  1. Vekoma came in an did track work. They didn't re profile but they did repairs where it was needed. I was at the park when Vekoma was working on the third inversion and it appeared they were doing welding and changing the shape of the track rails and possibly raising or lowering the rails in relation to the track spine. The areas they worked on were raw steel. They didn't actually move the track spine or supports of course and the layout is exactly the same as before but the work on the rails and whatever you call the part that connects the rails to the spine was noticeable. It sounds like it helped a lot!
  2. Thanks for the reviews everyone! Can't wait to try it out whenever I decide to head over to the park. It's too bad the two biggest jerking moments on the ride are still there. Luckily with the new restraints it isn't a huge issue. I have a feeling they didn't do much reprofiling to either of those portions of the track. I do know they did extensive work to the third inversion so it doesn't surprise me that it is smooth. That one used to be possibly the roughest part of the ride. I've always loved Ninja and would marathon it all the time without a problem but this should only increase the enjoyment of the ride!
  3. Thanks for the update Dan! I've been visiting this park for over a decade and it has been through a lot. I am just grateful that Rampage has been saved and is running better than I thought was even possible. Amazing ride. Looking forward to the park filling in the empty spaces and expanding a bit going forward now that many infrastructure updates have been made! HWFan, I'm looking forward to your update as well! I love extensive detailed reports.
  4. Did anyone here attend the grand opening of Ninja (sorry I just can't use the new name) today at noon? I wish I was there but being an adult and having to work ruins everything. I am curious how it is riding.
  5. I prefer to use my desktop. I use mobile when I don't have my laptop on me, but I much prefer desktop/laptop to mobile in terms of quality of browsing experience. 70% Desktop 30% Mobile
  6. Since the closure was obviously planned in advance and it's arguably their best ride it would have been nice if they had announced it on their website like any other park in any other chain would have. Oh well... I was considering making a mini New England coaster trip just to ride this before the VR and I am really glad I didn't. That would've been the biggest disappointment...
  7. I would love to have a mountain home and if I were rich I would buy this property for that and just happen to have an entire amusement park to go with it! Seriously how awesome would that be?! Some enthusiast with money please do this and reopen Cliffhanger/Red Devil. This is sad though. I visited the park during its last big revival as an amusement park with rides back in 2009(?) and it was a great experience with a few great rides (the placement of the swing ride and drop tower were amazing).
  8. The ninja statues were removed a few weeks ago I believe. If they are being thrown out, I would really like to have one or both of them. The entire entrance sign would make a nice Japanese garden pergola.
  9. ^I think many people agree that this entire concept would've made more sense. VR definitely is fun on DDD but the capacity is just too awful. They need to stop. Honestly all VR could stop and I would be ok with it. It's fun, but its going to be so lame at SFNE when I visit and want to re-ride Superman frequently. I'm so glad Over Georgia didn't put it on Goliath or Mind Bender.
  10. This is a very good choice (southern boy here but my dad's side is all from Pittsburgh and all still live there so I've spent a good chunk of life there). I would just suggest visiting downtown Pittsburgh (because it is a cool city) and checking out the Duquesne or Monongahela Incline and also going to the Primanti Bros in the Strip District. It's a cool area and that's the original location. If you just want the one closest to the park, I believe there is one a few miles from the park, but the experience isn't as good and I'm pretty sure that area isn't the most scenic part of Pittsburgh. Edit: Here is the link to that location. They are all over Pittsburgh though so there my be one closer to your route in and out from the park. https://www.primantibros.com/locations/north-versailles/
  11. Better than more DC comics themeing. But is it really? Considering we have "Joker Chaos Coaster" and "Joker Funhouse Coaster", boldikus may be right.
  12. Mind Bender had two trains on Sunday... From all the reports I have heard, it is jumping back and forth from one to two on an almost daily basis. I wonder why...
  13. Did we really need a second coaster with a fighter jet theme? Anyways, I was at the park Sunday and the ride looks good but hopefully they do at least a decent half ass job with theme because as of right now, the Ninja statues were better than anything I anticipate going in their place. Still can't wait to ride whenever I head back to the park.
  14. ^Yeah considering Ninja's trains were basically free from Great Adventure I think it was just a temporary fix until they could put together a more solid plan which they have now. In regards to Scorcher, it's the best B&M stand up by far. I've been on almost all the others and they are painful while Scorcher is actually pretty awesome. Sure floorless may ride a bit better but I would hate to see a world without any stand up coasters and Scorcher is the best one so it should be left alone and kept as a stand up.
  15. I'm waiting to hear it goes into full operation. I wanted to go this weekend but not if its still doing "technical rehearsal"
  16. You can still turn your head to the side. It may not be pleasant for the rider behind you though.
  17. Thunderhead for me at the moment is my #1 wooden coaster beating El Toro and Lightning Racer for me. Incredible intense ride. agreed agreed agreed. i'll have to see about lightning racer this summer I feel like Thunderhead is significantly more intense than Lightning Racer (which is still a solid ride but I don't find it to be in the top tier GCIs personally). Thunderhead, American Thunder, and White Lightning are my favorite GCIs. They never let up!
  18. I don't think they should ever dump Looney Tunes. It is comparable to the original Disney characters. Essentially timeless. Children will always enjoy meeting giant animal characters and honestly there are many parents who love Looney Tunes and expose their kids to the brand. I am all for keeping Looney Tunes forever, keeping DC forever, and applying other brands for a few years as they are popular.
  19. Those hills are the best part and some of the most awesome ejector air on any coaster! Quite possibly my favorite moment (or stretch of moments really) on any coaster. I also don't see how a flat lap bar crushes man parts. Maybe if it was a T bar.
  20. Honestly they do taste really good but this does surprise me because there is a reason barely any food uses this ingredient and the ones who had it replaced it with something safer. I mean it's illegal in so many countries so that isn't a good sign. I am not crazy picky with what is in highly processed foods as I know they generally just aren't good for you in excess, but I still found this interesting/concerning. Takis make my stomach hurt afterwards anyways so no more Takis for me (even though they taste good).
  21. I'm thinking that may have done it depending on how extensively they marketed it and if they offered special deals for staying longer. I'm thinking they had more people stay a day longer than normal. Then again Cedar Point is a big regional destination park and with the increase in theme park tourism Cedar Point is pulling from a larger audience of people who are on the fence in terms of distance for making a yearly visit.
  22. I find the North American water park attendance list interesting. I had to look up a few of the parks I wasn't as aware of. I was also surprised Six Flags White Water still ranks so highly and had the biggest increase in the top 10.
  23. Great layout and visually it is so realistic. I hope they can fix the issue with smoothing out the track a bit because while the coaster looks just about perfect, but the POV reveals issues. I mean it's still way better than having only preset track pieces to work with or something, but I hope they can smooth it out. Excellent invert though!
