  1. The parks are in very different situations so I try not to compare them, but Delgrosso's is definitely a very clean and active park. I would love to see them get something like Wooden Warrior. I do love Lakemont though for the rides you mentioned as well as their Toboggan coaster (everyone hates these but its a rare classic and I really enjoyed it) and sky diver flat. It was crazy how dead Lakemont was on "free day" while Delgrossos was charging and packed. I believe Lakemont is heavily funded by the government for Leap the Dips and because of the public activities on their property. I don't know the details but I'm thankful they are funded/tax exempt and wish Conneaut would see the same kinds of support.
  2. I took this same trip plus a few more parks last year. One suggestion... add Delgrosso's Amusement Park to your trip if you can squeeze in an hour or two! It is maybe 20 minutes away from Lakemont and even though it only has a wild mouse, it is a great beautiful park with some good flats and awesome pasta and pizza sauce! Lakemont never has any crowds and won't take long so it's easy to do unless you are pressed for time at Lakemont already. Also, I would consider Idlewild but that is harder just because it is much more expensive and not good for a quick pit stop. I did Lakemont (on free day too!), followed by Delgrosso's ($5), followed by more Lakemont, followed by about 5 hours at Kennywood so it can be done. It was a slightly fast paced day but not nearly as much as one might think. Also, traveling west from Harrisburg or whenever you are heading to/from Hershey, you can pass by Williams Grove Amusement Park and pay your respects to their classic 1933 woodie that is sitting there rotting if you have any interest in doing so.
  3. Love it! I'm still bummed I didn't get to see this park with the log flume and tree filled setting it had before but this coaster looks like it is going to be a really good one. Can't wait to make it to this park finally this summer.
  4. Tivoli is weird in that its rules shift between draconian (the loose items policy on the star flyer) and anarchy (the brakemen give no f**ks) from ride to ride. Probably because if a cell phone falls from a star flyer it could practically kill someone (I get nervous walking under them).
  5. ^Sadly this is true. The Larson ones are very hard to snap and if you get them to snap you are just barely getting there and it won't last long. They are still flyers though and still tons of fun!
  6. Same, we did it a ton during Smoky Mountain Christmas at night when we were the only people on the train. The ride ops even took a picture. lol Same here! Thats when I got all my rerides. I guess I just get the grumpy old people when I am there at night lol Last time I even went to guest services and was told that was the policy.. I was upset BC they literally ran an empty train and when I got back up it was another empty train with me and my GF on it lol Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk It is policy so any employee with enough sense to allow re-rides was technically breaking policy. It is a dumb policy though. Every time I am there and the coasters are nearly empty they insist we go around and actually encourage us to run, causing people to nearly trample each other going down staircases. It is dangerous and they should just allow re-rides. They even stuck to the policy during private ERT with just about 6 of us on the train.
  7. The one at CW is the only park model operating. All the other modals are for fairs and carnivals. I've ridden the fair versions which of course like any other fair ride, out out control, the carnies just have no regard for g-forces and I love everything about it. lol I've heard the CW ride is slightly intense but not as intense as how the carnies run them. I can confirm the one I went on at the Georgia National Fair was absolutely insane intense. It was a life changing experience and we were able to stay on for an hour and a half of rides. Eventually we had to stop because it was just too much for our bodies to handle. Totally awesome.
  8. 11 seconds is a huge difference. I assume that will even out but now I'm going to be trying for the blue train during my visit, even if both trains are running the same by then.
  9. ^I think DDD is a really solid ride although it may not be as intense as some would expect. It still has the beyond vertical drop, two inversions with heavy positive Gs and great hang time in the barrel roll. It's very smooth too. I think it would be a great fit for the park as long as the capacity issue is addressed. DDD suffers from a single loading dock. Mystery Mine has 3 loading docks and more blocks throughout the ride which makes its capacity much more respectable. If not a Eurofighter, maybe an Infinity Coaster is in the budget. It would definitely fill a good role in terms of the types of coasters the park offers.
  10. Preach I got it to play but it is sideways and that just drives me crazy. I'll take it over nothing though!
  11. ^I agree! This thing is hauling now! I'm so anxious to ride!
  12. I think that is the issue. I was actually really expecting Holiday World to get one before announcing Thunderbird, or for Knoebels to consider one before announcing Impulse. I feel like those are the kinds of parks that could benefit from one, but they both have full size steel coasters now.
  13. Mine is the Wildcat at the North Georgia State Fairgrounds. 20 miles away. It's a permanent installation so I count it. I love having another awesome Schwarzkopf in the Atlanta area.
  14. I was wondering if this was going to happen! Glad they added it. Even if it was safe before, this should help the structure and smoothness long term (I'm just assuming here).
  15. Ah I did not know they were made from the same company.. but isn't that a bit of stretch to shut down the while buying of Eurofighters? Wasn't the accident human error? Yes it was and considering Eurofighters have completely different restraint types and basically a flawless safety record, I don't think the NTAG incident is the reason they chain hasn't invested in more. DDD is a quality ride at a low cost and I have always thought one would make sense at SFStL. Capacity is a MAJOR issue though. At a park like SFOG, it really needs to have at least two MCBR blocks and probably three loading docks. DDD has one MCBR block and a single platform loading station which isn't realistic capacity for a park like SFOG or even one like SFStL. I still think it would be a really great choice of addition but I would hope the capacity would be better. I think the reason Six Flags hasn't invested in more is because of capacity and reliability. DDD is frequently down and having issues throughout the day, everyday. It's time consuming for maintenance and probably more costly than other rides.
  16. It looks really good! I can't wait to try it out along with the flyers. Really good large sized additions for a kid's area!
  17. I tried this but I am not seeing it. I was hoping to find it on the SFOG site as well because if this is being rolled out chain wide I would love to consider getting one for my local park. I wish they had one that worked for all the parks without any restrictions. If it worked at every park on every Flash Pass ride unlimited every day, I would definitely pay a premium price.
  18. It looks like they are applying a trim in the MCBR now because that looks much slower than the POV (unless the perspective is tricking me). Still excited.
  19. I would love it if Skyrush and El Toro had comfortable clamshell restraints and honestly I would feel more secure with those bulky clamshells.
  20. I have never understood this because I see the best reaction from all ages on coasters that are very intense. Many people argue that a park "doesn't want a coaster that intense because it won't appeal to as many people" but at most parks, their most intense coaster is often the most popular with the GP. I don't see why notable airtime would make this more or less family friendly. At the end of the day it is very tall and fast, and most people will decide to ride it or not ride it based on that, not on the negative G calculation. I think this is very true. Silver Dollar City's most intense ride is easily Outlaw Run, and you see more smiles and laughter on that break run than on any other ride I've seen. There are also tons of kids in the 7-10 year old age group that will ride and then get right back in line, and that's how I was at that age, too. A 200-foot coaster is going to scare people away because of the height, not because of the g-forces. In addition to this point, regardless of how family oriented SeaWorld is, they are adding Mako to attract more thrill seekers and expand their target market. The park isn't adding a hyper coaster so mothers and children will come to the park. The fact that it is a family oriented park has nothing to do with this coaster. A 54" height requirement is far from family friendly anyways and you'll see that restriction on all their major coasters.
  21. This would probably be my plan of attack if I'm ever making a trip for a new coaster. It would have saved a lot of people a lot of grief. I'm 3 hours away with a season pass and love going to ride grand openings (even if it is basically soft open) so no huge risk and I'll be back a few more times before the end of the year anyways. 3 hours is reasonable- I was thinking along the lines of those needing more than a day trip to accommodate a visit. I usually go for the weekend just because I never want to leave. Dollywood, Gatlinburg, and the Smoky Mountains are so wonderful I would stay for much longer if I could! I do agree if I was further from the park I would be much more cautious about my visit.
  22. I didn't realize the other new coaster was also custom (at least I have never seen that model). It looks pretty awesome for its size. I really need to finally do my east coast ocean side park trip that I keep putting off in favor of other trips.
  23. I think I may have experienced this on Skyrush.
