I too rode Mako on Sunday. It's exactly like the other 7 B&M hyper coasters I've done, though the first few hills before the trim have pretty powerful floater air. All the turns after the mcbr really drag, though their location is really nice and has great views. It's definitely probably the best pure coaster in Orlando though and I can't wait to ride this 40 times in a row at night sometime this fall. I like Nitro the most of those I've ridden based on the nice views and length, followed by Goliath SFOG, then probably Mako in 3rd. If it didn't have the really obvious trim it would definitely be better though.

Kinda makes me wonder how many groups put people in line for both Frozen and RSR FP's in the morning, keep in contact with each other, then have someone send the entire group's tickets to whoever gets through their line first, and then quickly back to the other line before that person makes it to the machines. This is why FP+ so very badly needs to come to Disneyland. NOOOOOOOOOOOO. On my visit in January I held 6 fast passes at once at one point (RSR, Alladin, Hyperspace Mt, Buzz Lightyear, Indiana, and World of Color) and used about 14 over the course of two days for the most popular attractions. I miss regular fastpass in Orlando so so badly. Regular Fastpass is my favorite queue system ever because it's included, you can abuse it well if you know what you're doing (and I'm fine with that!), you don't have to solidify plans multiple days to a month in advance, it makes every attraction accessible without waiting or much commitment, and it keeps all the non-fastpass lines constantly moving. Please Disneyland keep it!

Seaworld's Christmas event is the tops in the area. It is so cheesy and romantic. I've always preferred Seaworld and Busch dramatically over Animal Kingdom, so I'm really happy DAK is getting a bunch of upgrades to make it more than a 4 hour morning experience. But with Mako I still know which park I'll have the annual pass to and powerride the coasters.

Moreys Piers Discussion Thread
BlahBlahson replied to LcHg5265's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just bought tickets for my 3rd consecutive year at the Wildwood Beach Ultimate tournament last weekend of July! Going to explore Ocean City pier and see the new Playland but might take a ride on the Great White and definitely hit up Fascination on the boardwalk while at Morey's. -
^^October is good, but late September is even better. Practically Any date for HHN will be less crowded in September than October, plus all the parks in the area are dead during that month and all Halloween events are running. Universal day-time is good for either though, they are only packed during school holidays.

I've thought this since the instant the two coasters were announced. Each coaster fits perfectly into the other park's lineup. Cheetah hunt was too expensive for essentially a mild thrill coaster and odd use of such powerful tech. Antarctica was a massive waste of expensive trackless vehicles. Tempesto is a clone and out of character for BGW (and I think it looks ugly as sin). Blackfish and its fallout was weak-handled in terms of PR. Viking raider is a very small and poor addition to this park, GCIs have zero airtime, and it does not increase my likelihood to visit in any capacity. The decision to close gwazi and do nothing with it was noticed...by everybody. Axing the creative guys behind howl o scream, the mime at Clyde and seymour, canceling allure have all decreased my overall enjoyment of the entertainment at those parks. ^Just some other opinions I hold of a brand that is really head-scratching this decade.

Just being a nerd, I am really underwhelmed by BGW's last two coasters, and I don't have many positives to say other than vikings are cool and I really hope that something signature in the level of Pompei, darkastle, Griffon, loch ness, etc. is still in this world-class park's DNA. I really hoped for more and I don't think I'm crazy for that. Both are positive additions...but this one better be very family friendly like others are saying because it certainly isn't as thrilling as this park is capable of.

Favorite attraction never made?
BlahBlahson replied to Themonerd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I feel like either Disney's Animal Kingdom Mine Cart Coaster or IOA's Raptor Dueler would have been absolutely awful and probably both torn down and gone at this point. The turn of the Millenium was a very mixed bag for wooden coaster design, and with the unprecedented operational requirements that would have been placed on those coasters, yeah, they would have been hopelessly rough. I mean, Hulk just got an entire rebuild due to track wear. Very glad neither was built. Beastly Kingdom or Discovery Bay are probably the two biggest losses out there. But because they weren't built we got Paris Discoveryland, Dueling Dragons, and Big Thunder Mountain (and developing parts of Disneysea's Volcano, and the space for Star Wars land at DL), so maybe that's a wash. I would say all in all, my number 1 attraction would be the Shwartzkopf figure eight loop. Someone should build one. -
Another suggestion...why not just fit in the Florida Parks/Kennywood on some off-day when you're regularly at school? You could do a Six Flags Over Georgia>Dollywood>Carowinds>KD>Busch Williamsburg>Six Flags America>Hershey>Knoebels in the same time span. Or swap Great Adventure for Hershey and triple-dip on a Six Flags pass.

Being from Orlando and having Universal Orlando in my backyard, i just find it odd how very little interest I have in going to USH ever. It's a great park I'm sure, but the amount that is copied between the two coasts/resorts now is basically unparalleled in the industry, even amongst the global "Disneyland" parks. Good for business but meh to me. I'd love to go to Universal Japan or Singapore, but I would seriously add another Disneyland day before I'd be interested in going to USH (even for free), other than HHN.

CaptainUnknown, if you are moving to Tampa for school, just get an annual pass/Funcard. It's well worth it to ride coasters all the time. And yes the Pretzels always come with chips, it's required oddly enough. And if you're at USF you could even get a job there, It's an easy bike ride from that campus.

Buy or Build your own theme park???
BlahBlahson replied to Jodon's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not gonna lie, it would be pretty fun to purchase a 515 foot, 10,000+ foot long version of I305/Flying Aces/SROSSFNE for some park with 80 million of the winnings. Would be a life changing coaster. Maybe build it for Knoebels, Dollywood, or Holiday World. -
Visited the park back on January 11th, a monday, for the first time ever. Overall a pretty mediocre experience other than hitting #300 on the Sierra Sidewinder! Timber Mountain Log Flume, Calico Railroad, Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant, Ghostrider all closed, Voyage to the Iron Reef breaking down each time we got near it (thankfully we got 1 morning ride in), and all coasters other than Coast Rider running 1 train probably added an hour or more to our visit of waiting. Oh and we did try Chicken Dinner to go in the marketplace, it was literally my worst meal of 2016 so far. One of my chicken pieces was extremely salty, they used Smuckers for some reason as their jam choice (wtf Knott's?), and the "biscuits" were burned/bitter...maybe the worst I have ever eaten. Really did enjoy the ghost town area, Mystery Lodge, Montezuma's revenge and the Calico Mine Train, and overall survived the day, but after MM and 2 Disney days, and with so much closed, Knott's was mostly a throw-in.

1. Eff all yall, dueling dragons and its high capacity totally thrilling layouts should stay forever or at least a few decades more. 2. The park (along with some give from Rowling) needs to add some more immersive theming to the queue line. DC is one of the biggest theming downgrades of all time. They literally just ripped out 90 percent of the original amazing theming and both parties somehow thought that was okay. Honestly, both sides were responsible for a big goof on that one, and I miss the frozen knights and skulls everywhere. Combined with no dueling, DC turned one if the 20 best rides in the world into a decent six flags attraction. I'm not in favor of ripping them out, I am in favor of doing something to re-imagine the ride.

Just visited Disneyland Resort over the weekend for the first time both to experience the original rivers of America and to see the diamond celebration/seasonal overlays in full force. I can't say I would miss any part of the river remodel. I really enjoyed the sailing ship Columbia but if the ride was 2-3 minutes shorter I think that would increase my enjoyment and re-ride potential of it. Same with the Train, as that ride is best for transportation to more interesting things and the section being changed was the most bland of any on it. Aladdin and its fabulous genie being swapped out for a Third frozen stage show can go straight to Helheim, however. Amazing park though! Disneyland is more interesting than Magic Kingdom and having a park/off site hotels/downtown Disney in walking distance was a huge positive compared to the chore of getting around Disney world (parking, busses, trams, etc). And the surprise hit of the whole trip was Hyperspace Mountain. Had to be my favorite ride there overall, you literally are in an x wing /tie fighter battle. Crowd management was also fine even with the parks being busy, though the bigger walkways of WDW are appreciated.

So I did visit Magic Mountain for the first time ever after 2 decades of seeing it in pictures and video, so happy i finally made it! We made it on 15/19 coasters at MM, No Revolution (refurb), Green Lantern (thing's broke), Superman (annual Maintenance), and Magic Flyer (too adult). Park was thoroughly dead, Most everything was a walk-on for the day except Goliath, Tatsu, Yolo, and TC. Being picky here, but operations were about as painful as advertised. Someone vomited on Twisted Colossus and they cleaned the seat and cycled that train literally 5 times, with each cleaning/dispatch taking about 4 minutes each (seems like overkill to me). The TC crew did a great job of turning a 15 minute crowd into a 45 minute wait. X2, Goliath, Tatsu, Full Throttle and even Speedy Gonzales ALL broke down while we were in line for them (or on the ride!). Ninja didn't open until at least 2 pm, Full Throttle was down at least 60 percent of the day. Goliath dispatches were extremely slow, Throttle ran 1 train but basically everything else ran 2 so no worries there. The breakdowns were frustrating because we didn't know what was running or when things might be running again. As far as we could tell there were no shows or entertainment offered. Line jumping, even with the low crowds, was unreal. The employees not only didn't do anything about it happening in front of them, they at times assisted! people wishing to rejoin their party ahead of them or advanced their friends to the front of attractions. I saw line jumping at least 7 or 8 different times today, way more than any park I've done. Part of the culture??? But overall I was very happy. Magic Mountain is not way too huge to walk around for the amount of coasters offered, and it is an incredible collection with something for anyone. Tatsu and Riddler's were my big surprises, they both really are the best versions of their coaster type in the USA. X2 and Twisted Colossus were crazy and worth the flight.
