I am very hopeful for Volcano Bay, but I do have concerns with its location. Driving by the space, it's not a big area...yes bigger than wet n wild but wet n wild is also one of the smallest footprint Waterparks there is. I don't see the space for say...a river rapids or boat ride or many show buildings. If they go in that direction they will be capped on space immediately. Second, the plot is literally adjacent to the interstate, less than 40 feet from it. Noise is something can be dealt with but again it caps expansion and just like the walls next to turkey lake road they can't reduce all impact (example: all of the outside city you can see from dueling dragons). Thirdly, day-trippers are going to have to be bussed from the parking garage it would seem. That's certainly a relaxation drawback in comparison to something like typhoon lagoon with close free parking right at the gate. If they add parking for the Waterpark then that's even less space for the park itself. Should be good but they don't have gobs of space to work with, less even than some regional park's included water parks. OTOH, the architecture and space of Both Harry potter areas and a place like Lotte World prove you can do great things in small areas.

Sold! One SeaWorld parks premier pass for 2016 please. Cobras curse looks like everything the park needed after closing gwazi. Looks to have a dark section in that station photo and that huge cobra is another cool park landmark after the cheetah hunt tower and falcons fury. Egypt also only had Montu as a draw so this is a welcome spot in the park as well. Winner winner.

Yay! A new B&M 5 miles from me! And it's the floater airtime version. Seaworld will now have 3 insanely reridable B&Ms with very short lines and good theming. Curse whoever mentioned the Morgan Hyper-lite but this will be great too and I can already tell that Brian and his team are gonna make this fit in as well as Manta did. Honestly, my biggest hope for this ride is an attendance jump. Seaworld with a new B&M (and Sea Lion High) and Busch Gardens with a new Mack coaster should look mighty attractive to vacationers. With Universal opening Kong and Epcot opening Frozen, next year could be a marketing frenzy.

Kumdori Land being demolished

I rode a bus there in November 2011 hoping to ride the Horror Express. It was closed, but I did get 2 kiddie credits. I guess it may have been closed for good at that point! -
I missed that they replaced the Banzai Pipeline at Whitewater with a CannonBowl slide, but that is a GREAT call. Six Flags is killing it recently for me. So many good decisions in attractions. Especially adding two well-fitting flats into Gotham city at SFOG. Flat rides were very slim-pickings at the park between the year 1999 and until recently.

New theme park for Turkey, Ankapark.
BlahBlahson replied to _koppen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Whatever the hell that last coaster is, it looks like the olde loop-the-loops of Coney Island that would snap people's necks. -
Wild Arctic is pretty great for about two months, between Mid November and Early January, when it's not Wild Arctic and A capella carolers serenade you in line for the Polar Express. Otherwise it's very hokey with bare-minimum theming and all-around dated. Turtle Trek is just okay and the Antarctica ride experience is honestly poor, so Seaworld does have some real duds in the lineup with their family offerings. I'd probably rather see something in that area for the park experience but after Blackfish it looks like they really want to make a marketing splash especially with an early "tallest coaster in Florida with no other details" announcement. I'm very on-board with the Hyper GT-X. There is no airtime machine in all of Florida, even if Rip Ride Rockit has it's moments and Wild-Lightning got close. With the park having no problems with coaster capacities (Manta and Kraken are rarely above an hour wait, and most days 5-30 mins) any expensive B&M would be a true luxury, I would love to see a different model with more punch to it.

Mako is a great name, as is Cobra's Curse. I'm sure neither will be the final choice then lol. Antarctica the ride is very flawed, but the penguin exhibit at the end is Uhh-mazing. It's the best viewing in the whole park unless the dolphins are being playful underwater. I think it was all worth it just for the smelly, glassless encounter with those birds!

The effects of no frequent fear+higher ticket costs on Fridays and Saturdays fairly evens out the crowds on every event night in September more than it used to. I will say that it seems like express lines get longer on those weekend nights. It is variable on many things, but in general Fridays are the busiest night on a consistent basis. Some Thursdays are very busy but not all of them. Every Wednesday is the least crowded night, followed by Sundays. I recommend going earlier in the schedule rather than later. From the first day of the event every weekend gets a little more busy than the last up until the weekend prior to halloween. Going the 19th would be a good bet, and then the next weekend you can go back to HHN25 or go to the also excellent BGT Halloscream and do the fright feast package. Or both! And just to give you a heads up, even on those early evenings the event is relatively busy for a theme park. In the middle of the evening, around 9 pm, probably no house will be under 30 minutes and the most popular could be pushing 90 minutes or even (hopefully not) 2 hours. In contrast at 630pm all the houses will be somewhere between walk-in to 25 minutes...
-
Also, the Frequent Fear Passes are cheaper than buying for some single nights. It's also an option vs the Stay and Scream holding areas depending on price, but the holding areas definitely get you a leg up on getting 2-3 houses done immediately by being released just before the front gates and closer to the house entrances (plus...alcohol). The biggest tip to avoid NEEDING express passes is to be at the parks early and stay until the end of the event. The first and last hours of the event are maybe 25% as crowded as 9-10PM in the middle of the night. But with 9 rumored houses this year one night even with express would be tough to see it all and the scarezones and the shows. It's a busy event.

I've heard a few plans for Seaworld, none of them involving a hyper-coaster. If anything, what the park really could use is another indoor family ride/area/aquarium. When it rains, you can do Turtle Trek, WIld Arctic, maybe do Antarctica (always a 40 minute queue or more, and 80 percent outdoors), Shark Encounter, Manta aquarium (maybe the stingray or dolphin viewing for 5-10 minutes), or try to eat at a sitdown restaurant. That's a limited number of options when compared to other Orlando parks, and includes none of the coasters and none of the shows. They could probably make something out of the Nautilus Theater, the old brewhouse (Garden Terrace), or the old Clydesdale building.

I've never had a remotely rough ride on any B&M I've ever ridden, including 200+ laps on hulk and another 50-100 on Kumba. I'm out of this loop. I will say, Hulk has been running every day (minus rehabs) since 1999, with constant 3 train operation. It has a ridiculous amount of wear on it for a coaster of the type I'm sure. There are strong rumors that the entire ride is getting a re-track very very soon.

It's grown on me, and it's a solid ride for what it is...my problem is just that I expect Busch Gardens Williamsburg to do so much better. This is the park that put in the Spider-Man Ride system, that somehow came up with a suitable high-themed replacement for Big Bad Wolf, that one-upped Sheikra in Tampa, that has one of the best chute the chute rides out there, several other amazing-looking and riding B&M's. It's gonna be a minorly-themed clone. Six Flags could have done this and has, any park could have done this. I expect more from the Busch Gardens brand. If this was the same ride type but with double the ride length, a dual-loading station, a proper announcement, a well-developed story, and didn't look so gangly and clashing next to Apollo (just some of what people have thrown out) I would be more excited. It is what it is, and at least it IS something cool as the company is having attendance, revenue, and PR issues. It especially looks a little down while seemingly every other park is putting in their "Yep the economy has recovered and here's our best effort" level of attraction this year.

They both open early every day to resort guests. The best thing to do at opening far and away are Despicable Me and Rip Ride Rockit. These two have very short-no waits at opening and very long waits later in the day. However, since armed with unlimited express for that other day, you could go straight to the HP lands in the mornings which don't have express available. Not a bad decision. Hulk, Spiderman, Water rides in the afternoon, and All three rides in Hogsmeade are the long waits in IOA. Transformers, Despicable, Rockit, Gringott's, and then Simpsons and possibly ET or Mummy are the long waits at Studios. Best places to eat: Mythos, Harry Potter Restaurants on either side, or in Citywalk. Simpsons area also has a decent variety (and the chicken and waffle sandwich) but service can be hit or very very miss. Best Show is Horror Make-Up, but Animal Actors and Fear Factor can be fun. Sindbad is absolutely awful. The Band Perry is also playing Saturday the Eleventh with the family-friendly Mardis Gras Parade. If you camp out for the parade near the Twister gift shop exit, you can usually get a great spot for the concert on the stage behind you after the floats go by. Enjoy your Vacay!

Kong has rock-work being built and going in all around the show building now, which is almost fully closed off and almost fully built. Don't know what's going on inside though. Volcano Bay has also taken shape, the big Volcano looks like a city dump where they've built up the land and keep adding to it.

And to clarify, no way do I think that wait is 5 hours long, it's a B&M Hyper with 3 trains, just that several people were absolutely positive the wait for the ride could never ever be over an hour. -

I'm not going to dig 20 pages back, but I really really really hope everyone claiming this ride would have a one hour wait on opening day "because Carowinds never gets busy" has their crow on the plate. LINK REMOVED - We do not support this group, sorry. -

I want to go back too! It's like if you built Epcot, added some Magic Kingdom rides, ran everything at Disney-level efficiency, then built 12 roller-coasters, then added something huge and new every single year. Such an amazing place. -

I love speed and I love longer coasters. When are there many opportunities in this world to travel 90+ MPH with only a lap-bar in the open air through curves and hills on a 100 percent safe course that's as smooth as glass? So happy to see this built. -

It's a slightly bigger Millennium Force. GP will love it, so will the large majority of enthusiasts. How exciting! -
Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach?
BlahBlahson replied to Iron Wolf 90-11's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^65 degrees would carry an outside risk of causing hypothermia, i don't think the water is quite that cold. The shark reef at typhoon might approach that temperature though, that one is probably between 65 and 70 degrees. -
^It's not. The great nor easter at moreys scanned me with a hand held metal detector and had free lockers for your items last summer. This is the exact same thing. People are going to HATE them though, i cannot see this going too smoothly with the amount of guests, the amount of guests who love their phones, and the extremely annoying queue videos and long lines of hrrr. I hope it works out though, will be safer and more efficient for everyone.
