  1. ^^It will really only be a "mini island" off to the side of the Jurassic Park stuff. Think of how the Peter Jackson King Kong movie related to Dinosaurs and you'll get it thematically. ^American schools are all going back into session around then or are already back. Early Access will be pretty dead but if you want to sleep just a bit more you should be fine. As always, my recommendation is that Minion Mayhem and Rip Ride Rockit are the two highest priority early morning attractions at the resort. They will always have long lines by midday and the rest of the day. Also, I'm on the arriving Early train for HHN. In Fact, I don't think there is a single regular park event in the entire world that necessitates early arrival as much as HHN, save maybe Tokyo Disney parks. HHN is legitimately NOT WORTH THE MONEY if you show up at 8 pm or later, because you will maybe only do 4 houses, and wait dearly for all of them. This is how HHN house lines work: 6:30-5 minute wait to walk through the line or some early guests coming in from Stay-and Scream 7 PM-most houses 10 minutes, Most popular 30 minutes 7:30PM-Most houses 15-20 minutes, Most popular 1 hour+ 8:PM-Most houses 30-45 minutes, Most popular 1.5hours+ 8:30PM-1030PM Most houses 30-1 hour, Most Popular 2 hours up to 3 hours 11PM-12:30 Follow the 8PM wait times backwards Whatever Remains until Close: Wait times for 4 or 5 houses dissipate to 10 minutes or less, the most popular down to 30-45 or less So you can see how incredibly Important it is to arrive early and stay late at this event. If you get there at 8, after waiting in a huge parking line you will enter and probably wait 1 hour for your first house, another hour for another house and a bathroom break, then if you want to do one of the most popular houses you are basically screwed into another 1.5 hour wait, for a 3-5 minute experience. If you want to see a show as well or eat or see any of the scarezones you aren't going to do more than 5 houses. Whereas if you arrive early, you can do 3-4 houses an hour in, maybe have 6 done by the second hour (Remember that's just after our 8PM arrival time), and then have 4-5 hours left to do any remaining houses and see a show or two or ride Mummy, MIB, whatever. Or possibly REST and eat and drink. It's night and day.
  2. I can see someone getting lost there, Busch Gardens has a horrible park layout. Rides that are physical neighbors are literally a ten minute walk from each other. It's one huge loop with Montu and Kumba off on dead ends. Not to mention the parking that is across the street being awkward. Doesn't mean it's not my favorite park in Florida, but the layout is very poor compared to most parks.
  3. The only thing I have to say about this one is...it could have been more. There's not quite enough new or -Est to this one for me. The extra 10 feet is not an extra 60 or 100 feet. Having Sheikra nearby and having ridden Griffon recently...well it's basically Griffon with a wingrider-roll off of the helix instead of a splashdown (not a huge reason for me personally to fly back to the park or write gushing blog posts) Especially coming only a day off of Lightning Rod's announcement, a coaster with 5 or 6 never-before-seen elements this one is basically just a little bit safe. Should be a little bit better than previous Dives but not a leap of imagination. One more closer to running out of B&M designs.
  4. That makes no sense at all. If it's good in one location, it's good in any location. Just because Studio parks have a lot of greatly-themed rides doesn't mean that other parks can't have rides that are on par with those. Even Orlando has really lame ones like Stitch Encounter, Shrek 4D, The Seas with Nemo, and Antarctica:Empire of the Penguin that would be terrible in any park. In fact, when I first visited Magic Kingdom 3 years ago I was shocked at the number of rides that really didn't do anything greater than those in Regional parks. As a whole they are a great collection, but stuff like Buzz Lightyear, Winnie the Pooh, Jungle Cruise, Small World, COP, Tiki Room etc. are very average rides, only a few rides are really on a different level like Haunted Mansion and Splash Mountain. But any of those could be recreated in a regional park. Some of my favorite dark rides are at regional parks: Monster Plantation SFOG, Ocean City Haunted House, Geisterschloss at Europa Park, Darkastle at BGW.
  5. Yesssssss. I needed a good reason to make a third trip to the Wildwood beach ultimate tournament next summer, this and playing a few of those boardwalk mini golf courses are a great one.
  6. Flitzers are really underrated. They are very very compact, relatively cheap if you can buy one, and a hundred times more fun than most kiddie coasters. I wish someone would start making knock off versions of them rather than wacky worms and rollerskaters. They are about that height and not intimidating but much more fun.
  7. ^Another big reason is that they are both tucked away at far ends of the park and Sheikra is smack on the midway in the middle. Montu's lines will go up next year probably with Cobra Curse attracting more flow into the area.
  8. Wow. WOW. Just consider this design in relation to something like an old John Allen Wooden, or a small GCI or CCI...or on the steel side it really is comparable in size to Zierer, Pinfari, and mid-2000s Gerstalauer rides. And they got THAT layout out of 100 feet of height. RMC is like the exact opposite of that thread "Which element could the designers have done better." RMC and Intamin continue to be leaps and bounds over everyone in creating "enthusiast" coasters. They know how to build forceful and innovative.
  9. Glad to see this pop up to the top of the board. I'm in Wildwood this weekend for the big beach ultimate frisbee tournament again. Really wish I could buy a cheaper unlimited rides pass just for the Great White, did everything else last year but that ride is a major highlight and so re-rideable. Besides Kohr brothers, pizza, and the beach, we have a free day on Monday, anything in south jersey that is worth seeing?
  10. ^Thirded. Minion Mayhem first, followed by HRRR second, and Transformers third is the best start you can have to a day at Universal Orlando. On a busy day, you can cut a midday combined wait time of 3.5 hours into a first-thing combined 15-25 minute wait.
  11. Mako really isn't what's missing in Seaworld's collection, it's much more of a push into thrill rides. When I worked there, it was hard to tell guests during rainstorm that they could either sit in a restaurant or do Turtle Trek or Wild Arctic and that's it (Antartica's queue is long and outdoors). Compare that to the options at Universal or Magic Kingdom. It's also difficult to tell families that the coaster's height requirements jump so dramatically from the Shamu kiddie to JTA (which is considered more of a wet water ride), then 54 inches for the next step. So really 38" to 54" and in-between kind of moot. I always thought that a mine-train like ride or another proper dark ride (or a shooter) would fit in seamlessly. Something like Firechaser/West Coast Manta or Justice League would be great. But then again I'm an adult and Mako absolutely sells me on an AP for next year!
  12. I enjoyed Shockwave's stand-up airtime, paint job, and general awkwardness more than any of the park's blah to awful wooden coaster collection, so I'd rather it had stayed. But maintenance is maintenance. Whatever, Dominion is worth the admission price just for the short lines on I-305. I don't see anything coming here that would attract me back more than that does.
  13. Does anyone from the Columbus Area want to meet up and go to Kings Island on Friday, the 10th of July ? I am arriving at the Cincinnati Airport at 8:50am that day and I was planning to spend the day downtown and then take a mega-bus to Columbus that night, but just throwing this option out there (I'm asking because public transportation and even Uber aren't feasible for getting from the airport to KI and then Columbus, and renting a car is like 80+ dollars split between...nobody else) if anyone wants to meet up and hang out that day at the park. I haven't been there in 12 years, I could help out with gas and parking!
  14. Hulk has been operating harder and more frequently than any coaster in the world for 16 years, every single day of the year outside of rehabs. In a seasonal park's timescale, it has accrued the wear and tear of probably 30-35 years' worth of operations. I'm sure new trains are within possibility for a ride that has seen so much use. Much like Big Thunder and Space Mountain getting mega-refurbs at the disney parks over the last decade.
  15. Does this mean RMC is now slated for FOUR projects in 2016? -Dollywood -Kentucky Kingdom -Unnamed California -Kolmarden Can they manufacture everything? I know they had started on Kolmarden and then halted production...I assume DW's is in full production.
  16. Same as any theme park. Go on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and you won't need quick queue. Buy it if the park is loaded with tour groups and the waits are longer than you would wish.
  17. There's a video on the frontpage of reddit from Youtube. The Holi Powder caught fire which was spread over a portion of the audience. It's pretty horrible.
  18. So Disney World has had enough issues that they have completely banned them from all of the parks at the resort. Thoughts? http://attractionsmagazine.com/selfie-sticks-longer-allowed-walt-disney-world/
  19. Twisted Twins is missing huge pieces of track and construction has started. RMC is already confirmed through job-posting services. This conversion's a done deal. Lightning Run, Thunder Run, Twisted Awesomeness and Deluge are a hell of a reason to put this park on the map, for me that top line is better than even KI's.
  20. Does anyone from the Columbus Area want to meet up and go to Kings Island on Friday, the 10th of July ? 21. Wet n Wild actually gets less credit than it deserves. It had a lot of innovative slides and I would recommend it to families with teens among Orlando waterparks. Their slide collection is the best in the area.
  22. That new slide is incredible. If any park here in Orlando got one of those it would instantly be my favorite waterpark in the area.
  23. For me the biggest thing that wasn't great about Maelstrom was that it was a super duper short log flume. Because of that it had no real story. So this ride will have the same ride track and length, and also won't really be telling a story but just showcasing the characters. I hope the effects are really cool, but color me more excited for Kong, Mako, and Cobra's curse...and the world's tallest rollercoaster, and maybe star wars and toy story attractions if they're actually happening...and that potential water-coaster at Volcano Bay...and even Avatar-land.
  24. ^Light up the night is my favorite of the various Shamu shows. The music is catchy, it's really cheesy good fun. A good concert followed by that show and then a late night ride on a coaster should satisfy just about anybody!
  25. Geauga Lake 1. Spend to add 20 freaking new rides to a park in 2 years. 2. Acquire another park and become the world's largest theme park, in a small suburb of Cleveland Ohio, with a very low-priced admission ticket and extreme debt. 3. Close all animal attractions, build a new waterpark there, close the old waterpark, send all of your coasters away, and then close down the entire rides side leaving only the new waterpark. I think this one wins.
