  1. I want to thank you for your reply to my plan. Very detailed advice from a local is much appreciated. New issue though...I was planning on visiting Saturday but I could possibly go Friday instead. The weather for Saturday is 60 percent chance of rain and average temperature high 40s. This El NiƱo weather was enough to close the park entirely yesterday and today. So I'm thinking if the park even opens Saturday with those Temps and the low crowd levels is going to be hell on the operations side. I should switch to Friday (high of 59 and no rain) shouldn't I? And make Disney Saturday and Sunday then Knotts Monday.
  2. SeaWorld almost always produces their own music for their newest attractions and shows. Antarctica and Turtle Trek have their own songs. Each shamu version and blue horizons have original music, and many other things in the park have original background music. I would say it's highly likely Mako has a song that you will hear either in the station or on the ride, or both.
  3. I've never had a problem with Stand Up Coasters...but Wild Eagle was probably the most boring multi-looper I've ever been on. So lame for looking so impressive, and a ton of unused speed at the end of the ride.
  4. Is anything at MM experiencing regular downtime this week other than the closed Revolution? I am visiting on Saturday, first time ever and hope to do all the majors. My thought on a plan of attack is YOLO first, then TC, Green Lantern, then allllllll the way backtracking (i'm athletic and going to the park solo so the hope even with the heavy travel is to hit all of these with 0 wait) to X2 and Viper if X2 opens an hour after the park does. Then just do a big loop clockwise around the park. If X2 doesn't get heavy wait times like it used to though, I'd just do a big counterclockwise loop instead.
  5. That boat ride is totally awesome. The houses are really nice and varying, and the canals are really small and surprising that the boats can even fit through them. Very different than driving in that area. On I-Drive Hanamizuki Japanese Restaurant is a very solid Ramen Shop. I also go to the Ichiban Chinese Buffet across from Fun Spot if I have a hankering, it's the only one in the tourism area that is any good (and if you like buffets). In Winter Park there are some amazing restaurants. Toasted, Ravenous Pig, Tibby's, Ethos, Prato, Italio (literally an Italian version of Chipotle) just to name a small handful. It's a better selection than than this side of town...but one thing about Orlando that people don't know is that we have so many good restaurants in all parts of town that you can't even go to them all even if you live here. Food is not lacking in this city, especially Asian, Latin, or Pizza/Italian.
  6. All I see is the capital and market to build more new rides. And I'll visit those rides the other 11 months as well.
  7. Went to the park yesterday, the 27th and a Sunday. Park was absolutely slammed with shows in the afternoon filling up 20 minutes in advance and the entire extra parking lot full. But got a little quieter surprisingly for the Christmas shows. Have to say again, for the 4th year running that I've been to the event SeaWorld's Christmas is once of the most magical things I've ever done and is absolutely better than the offerings from Disney or Universal. It is so freaking romantic and wonderful. Every show is cheesy and amazing.
  8. So my roommate who works there found out today some fun info about this scenario on the sky tower. They have an emergency port a potty on both levels of the cabin and they also keep some games and reading material in a closet. Also, when they got everyone down (after about 3 hours) everybody got some nice park merchandise as compensation. Even with the heat I think it sounds kind of fun!
  9. That sounds like a ton of fun. I always wish I could stay up there longer. An hour sounds perfect.
  10. If the coasters at Busch and Seaworld Florida for next year were swapped, it would make a bit more sense in my head for what each park needs. Seaworld really needs more family rides when Manta and Kraken have the shortest waits of anything in the park and neither JTA or Shamu Express is an ideal all-around family coaster. Busch has a rounded collection as it is, Cobra's Curse really solidifies that. They could really use an major indoor experience there next, the whole park shuts down in the rain. Not complaining though! Mako should be endlessly re-rideable with the 10 minute wait times it will command and fun floater airtime and it does add more to do for the thrills and teens crowd who probably aren't enamored with shows and cute sea animals.
  11. Forget CC and Mako, Cobra's Curse has the exact same color scheme as Kumba across the park. And I agree it is adorable.
  12. I seem to suddenly be going to MM, Disneyland/DCA, and Knott's for the first time ever Jan 8th to 11th...and I was wondering about a few attraction closures at that time. 1. Magic Mountain won't have Revolution, but is there anything else that is known? I'm expecting a pretty dead park, 1 train ops and maybe 3 coasters down for Six Flags reasons. Twisted Collossus being down would total deal-breaker on going there versus a sightseeing day at Getty Museum/Hollywood/or Pacific Pier. I also want to make sure I get on Viper/Goldrusher//Ninja/Green Lantern if SFMM were to remove any those in the next few years. 2. Disneyland is closing half the park practically for long refurbs starting the 11th, hence the reason for the visit. Haunted Mansion Holiday/Jingle Cruise should be running through the 10th if the Disney site says they close on the 11th right? I only see Soarin' being down which is totally fine since Orlando has the clone. 3. Knott's will have Ghostrider down but nothing else is listed, so it should be all clear and a pretty slow day at the park on a January Monday?
  13. Can we start construction tomorrow? I'll give them my annual pass money today if it helps. So proud of the wave of support the community gave to this obvious win of a project.
  14. Win or (likely) lose I'm gonna need ice cream and cake.
  15. That Mt. Olympus Deal is too good to be true...
  16. The Voyage: If it could always be smooth and not need the mid course to keep itself from breaking apart, that would help a lot. Or they could RMC it and make the lift hill launched and just melt enthusiast's brains entirely. T-Express: Not much...a single rider line perhaps or some other way to improve capacity. Millenium Force: If both large camelbacks produced big airtime moments and the small speed hill/turn at the end was actually two quick, twisting pops of ejector air, this would have been a nearly unanimous #1 for its first decade of operation. I 305: Any improvement to the vest restraints that hugged my neck and shoulders and made me sore there for 3 days afterwards. Also no brakes on that camelback near the end...because masochism. Lightning Run: (assuming it becomes my #1 wooden coaster in March): Turn the final brake run into two barrel rolls, then finish with a 1.5 downward helix into brakes and then straight track into station. Would literally be the perfect coaster in the perfect setting with perfect operations staff.
  17. The deal for individual tickets on Blue Friday is Buy one get one free. I have no clue if those tickets would then be valid when physically at the park for any second day admission deal. http://www.iloveseaworld.com/seaworld-orlando-blue-friday-deals-revealed/?jdfwkey=zbsuu2 Additionally, a Seaworld FUN Card (99 dollars+tax) includes unlimited 2015 calendar year visits to Seaworld, parking not included. It is the defacto buy one day get the second free and more deal now.
  18. The Polar Express is DRASTICALLY less intense than Wild Arctic. The latter takes the capabilities of the simulator to the extreme and tries to throw you out of your seat, with a choppy, potato-quality video. The former is a nice family ride with some moments of completely no motion and follows the general story of the movie. And during the polar express there are carolers outside singing to you and Santa taking pictures. It's way better all around. Seaworld has the best Christmas entertainment of any park in Central Florida. It's very cheesy and makes me nostalgic for when I was growing up and I love it.
  19. You can definitely have FUN at IAAPA too though, though it's kind of awkward not to be a serious buyer or media. There's a humongous arcade on freeplay with all of the best new games, a bunch of inflatables outside, some ice cream/pizza/funnel sticks/coke, several rides and VR experiences, and an insanely distracting amount of things to look at. And even many of the best personalities in the business if you want to meet your idol. It's as good as a day at any amusement park if you can go.
  20. ^^But also be aware the park is very very circular in layout, so If you want some re-rides tend towards doing them while you're already at the ride. Getting from Sheikra to Montu or whatever is a long trek even if the skyride is running.
  21. Did Seaworld Orlando have that Jet Rescue Rollercoaster or is it only for San Antonio? Various social media outlets are confusing me. I'd be extremely thankful for a family coaster. The theme looks like it would offer some great opportunities around the ride and in the queue to show off the rescued animals that are currently held backstage, and the ride is sorely needed for children who don't make the 54 inch height requirement of Seaworld's major coasters. Also, are we positive that this chain has nothing to do with Seaworld Australia?
  22. I guarantee you that daily, somewhere on Universal property, a guest will ask unironically "Where is the King Kong ride?" It was a pretty integral part of their marketing from when the park opened to when the ride closed and people still remember it. It's also probably as big in the lore of cinema history as most of universal's classic monsters. I think the ride will do fine drawing in people.
  23. All I see there is an awesome high-vantage-point turn into the huge first drop, massive airtime hills, and crazy fast speed and turns. It's Intamin and it will probably be the best coaster in all of Asia! Kick ass.
  24. Rockit is EXTREMELY temperamental compared to other coasters when it comes to trains. While I always try for the front row on it and avoid the back, sometimes it is perfectly smooth and sometimes it is Vekoma-death level roughness. Thank goodness for lapbars...and for Mako next year so we will finally have a really re-ridable airtime ride!
  25. ^I don't think I ever want a coaster as intense as the hulk (at least the old one) to also mess with my spatial vision. Freaking vomit Comet. I also think given the size and scale of Kong's building and the obvious theming work going in we'll be pleasantly surprised. Same with the large space for Fast and Furious and the interesting concept art for Volcano Bay. The Twister replacement...will probably be better than Twister! 4 major new additions in the next two years plus Sapphire falls and the Hulk complete replacement. That is so so so much more than most people's home parks receive and I have nothing to complain about.
