  1. ^Third troll post of the day!... For cryin out loud, bann this guy!!! Anyway, back on topic, what coaster is that in the pic? That looks awesome !
  2. ^^^ That actually makes a lot of sense.?
  3. Unpleasant: Would have to say any flats like looping starships, Larson fireballs... pretty much any of those rides with tons of hangtime that face you straight at the ground, against the restraints. I don't know what I hate about it, as on coasters, a lot of the hangtime moments don't freak me out at all. On a lot of flats though, I hate it. Pleasant: Would have to say, hands down, my first SLC. I, like almost everyone else on here, had heard the horror stories about these rides, but when I rode Flight Deck at Canada's Wonderland (an older one, and a notoriously bad one at that), it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. There was barely any headbanging, and in terms of intensity, I'd rank it right up there with the BTR clones. I'd actually say, if it weren't for the few rough patches (or, as I've heard with some SLCs, the entire rough ride), then B&M and Intamin would definitely have some competition on their hands! Actually, my experience with most Vekomas, and even TOGO stnadups (yes, you heard that right, TOGO standups) has proven that they're really not as bad as people say... they just seem to be rides with great potential, but not always executed well. I don't know, maybe it's just the fact that up until recently, we didn't have the greatest rides up here in Canada, and we needed to appreciate what we had, or maybe I'm crazy, but a lot of these so called "bad" rides seem to be more hype, or a running joke on the TPR forums than anything else. Hell, they even have an emoticon for it!
  4. ^You completely forget about Christmas because of how ecstatic you are about the awesome new RMC topper track scaled up LR giga-woodie that is getting built at SFMM, not just because it will be awesome, but because Cali will finally get a ride with airtime... that was announced at IAAPA, and forget to buy gifts for everyone because of it. If you understand all the coaster nerd stuff in that last sentence.
  5. I'm not sure what parks have "hands up" rules, but I do know that manufacturers take it into account. This could also be the reason for some rides having maximum height limits. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9QU83UPs4eU
  6. I will be going sometime in the next two weeks, on my anuale Montreal trip. I've been there before, but often get stuck in HUGE lines for the B&Ms, and wind up not getting to ride half the stuff lol.. It took me 3 visits to get to finally ride Vampire and Orbite simply because that front section was just PACKED on the days I went. So, any ideas on what rides to hit first, or when to go in they two weeks to avoid long lines? Also, as I've only really gotten to ride many of the rides once, do you have any idea as to which seats are the best for the star attractions like the B&Ms, Monstre, Cobra, Demon etc.? Finally, as I want to try and get as many *good* rides for my time there, do you have any suggestions on what rides to do, what I' need to skip? For example, My home park's CW in Toronto (Even though I live like 5 hours from TO lol), so it'd be cool to compare the bat/flight deck to Boomerang/Ednor, but I I'm not missing much, I'd just skip and get another lap on Le Vampire (the best ride in Canada IMO ).
  7. That's Awesome to hear! La ronde is close enough to me, and Vampire is probably my favourite coaster... Was also sl what I was gonna pick for this thread. Just out of curiosity, what row would you say is morecintense, front or back? Due to lines, I've only been able to ride in the middle up to this point, and I'm going back there in a week or so. Also, is Cobra worth waiting for?.. One of the only ones I haven't done at that park. EDIT: Sorry for posting twice... My internet's acting up, and wasn't sure if my post went thru lol.
  8. Would have to say, Le Vampire, La Ronde (BTR clone)... One of the best rides in Canada .
  9. ^ it was strange. From the videos, with the new Polly wheels, the ride almost sounds like the wood coasters from RCT3 lol Overall the ride looks amazing! Hope I can ride this someday, or hopefully a park closer to me gets one.
  10. I interpreted this differently. I interpreted it as the ride is massive or intimidating, so the riders are doubting their decision to ride. This seems more likely to me, especially because all along we've been assuming "the children" are us enthusiasts, and it doesn't say the children are having doubts. Plus, remember when she talked about having trouble staying upright, she also said "The children laugh and clap their hands." We will not be disappointed by this announcement. I agree that this whole site is mainly for the sake of enthusiasts and there's no way they'd bother going to all this trouble if it wasn't something big. Also think the reference to the children could mean an RMC. Remember people saying how the RMCs were bothe very intense, however, families and *kids* could still ride them. They'd also fit perfectly with HW, as they already have some great woodie a, but an RMC would definitely be a step up. First Woodie with a splashdown maybe ? Might also break the inversion record, seeing as they have a reference to "trouble staying upright". Finally, Maybe this will be the first launch woodie?. could the Mack truck mean that maybe this is a collaboration between manufacturers? RMC makes the track, and Mack helps with the launch?... Wouldn't surprise me, as RMC have partnered with other companies like Gherstlaur on previous projects like NTAG and I believe IRAT, until they got their own trains ready to go for OLR Goliath and Medusa. Maybe they'll tackle launches in a similar way?
  11. So, what'd you say is the most intense? I don't really care about the view lol.
  12. I've only ronde one BTR clone (Vampire, La Ronde) once, in the exact middle. This year, I'll be goin back, but I may only get a chance tor ride once depending on lines. Any idea on what seat you think's the best?... Front, back, inside or outer seats?
  13. La ronde... So pumped for their BTR clone & new Mondual flat!
  14. Yeah, totally forgot what the topper track can do lol How'd I forget abou Goliath or Outlaw?!? Just wondering, for those who've been on both outlaw run and an ibox ride, is there any noticeable differences between the two?
  15. I think that you're confusing Ride Centerline with Rocky Mountain Construction. Kind of like how a lot of roller coasters have been designed by Stengel Engineering. Sure, the two companies share some of the same people but I'm pretty sure Rocky Mountain provides the track system, train system, support structure and other systems. Think of it this way - Ride Centerline makes the coasters crazy, and Rocky Mountain Construction (or in Lightning Run's case, Chance) makes sure that they're smooth, safe and that they last. Usual "I could be wrong, this is based off of prior knowledge and deductive reasoning" disclaimer... Thanks for the info. I knew it wasn't RMC exactly (that's why I said "some of the DESIGNERS from RMC"), but wasn't quite sure what to put lol. Anyway, looks like both Chance and RMC have a bright future ahead of them regardless! Still wondering about the full steel coaster though. Wonder if RMC will ever attempt it, or be more like B&M (sorry to compare the two so much), and stick with perfecting what they know?
  16. I can understand that the "hybrid record" may not be worth going for, but when you think about it, parks put all sorts of crazy marketing campaigns, and make all sorts of claims. Half the time, someone who doesn't know anything about parks says that the biggest oaster in every park. or advertised on every TV commercial is the tallest and fastest in the nation/world. Hell, it even gets confusing for us enthusiasts sometimes!... For example, the goliath records... I know it's not the tallest (Colossus in Germany is), but what about the height and speed records??. It's all been pretty confusing. Maybe with cedar fair seeming to be a little more reliable than SF with their claims, they wouldn't try to purposefully confuse people with the hybrid thing, but you never know... something tells me if they advertise the most of something (whether it be hybrid coasters, or coasters in general), and bill the Mean streak as the MEANER strek, or some marketing ploy like that, It might work. I'm not a marketing/business expert by any means (mean... oh crap, no pun intended lol). I'm just going off of GP's reactions that I've seen, and my vague knowledge of how parks market their products. I could be completely wrong, just thought I'd put my thoughts out there though.
  17. The beautiful thing about opinions is that everyone is entitled to one. Lets not turn this thread into a B&M debate. In my opinion, being compared to B&M is a great thing for RMC. They were the undisputed kings of the coaster world for a long time before other manufacturers were able to catch up (hence the reason many feel their later coasters are weaker---other manufacturers pushed the limits while they didn't). They can also still be counted on to provide a guaranteed crowd pleaser that is easy to maintain. I'd love for nothing more than RMC to be the next B&M---I don't care if there isn't anything unique if the rides they keep churning out kick A$$! Totally agree with you there!... When I made my origonal "modern B&M" comment, I was pretty much trying to sum up what you said right here... I don't want RMC to become what B&M has become; coaster gods who got lazy and let the competition overtake them. If anything, I'd want them to be more like Schwarzkopf (hope I spelt that right ), designers who made kick@$$ rides right up until the end, that everyone still loves, and a company that still lives on in Maure Sonnet. As a side note, I love how other companies like chance & S&S are partnering with designers from RMC... We've already seen the 4d freespij prototype, & of course LR @ KK, & I'm sure more epic new hotness is to come!
  18. RMC it!... This is one of CF's big chances to step into the RMC game! We've seen what RMC can do with a somewhat similar ride (NTAG)', and I bet CF/CP's been thinking the same thing... Remember hearing on a coaster podcast (I believe it was In the Loop), where they interviewed CP. They asked if there were any big plans in the years after gatekeeper, and the PR person from CP said that there would be some stuff enthusiasts would love... I believe this (RMCing mean streak) is what they meant. In addition, with CPs love of breaking records, and their recent loss of a few coasters, this could allow them to take back their coaster capital title. They could break a lot of hybrid records with the new mean streak, and also claim the record for most hybrids in a park (Gemini).
  19. Wonder if this means we'll see their first full steel coaster built soon?
  20. Ya, I'm all up for more RMCs, as long as they don't go all modern B&M on us!
  21. Personally think the Monster at La Ronde is deserving of an RMC redo. It would be similar the iron colossus idea, but I personally think the layout seems better for such a conversion. It would be the first double tracked RMC (beating cedar fair in the process.. Gemini), could provide some cool head choppers with RMC's co supports, and be Canada's first hybrid coaster (Again beating cedar fair, as they've failed to RMC anything yet and I don't see "Rocky Mountain Mindbuster" happening until SF does something in Canada with RMC). monster%20la%20ronde
  22. ^Personally hoping the monster at la ronde might work for an RMC Makeover as well... It's double tracked, a first for RMC, & with RMC's cool supports, could allow for some nice head choppers... RMC version of the "hi five" anyone??? As for getting this topic back onto Medusa, is there a thread on who should get the next RMC?... If not, I'm off to start one. Oh, & did I mention, PRAISE THE RMC COASTER GODS!... ALL HAIL MEDUSA!
  23. Holy crap (I wish they let you say more curse words on this form)... That ride looks like El toro, NTAG & the smiler had an epic 3som, & out came this masterpiece! If the nect RMC is iron colossus, Maybe they could pull a bigger, duelling version of this baby off?... Just a thought.
  24. Can agree with others who've said these are awsome. Like someone else said on here, it's like a mini intamin 2nd gen tower
