  1. The one and only Cyclone at Coney Island in New York. I am so happy I finally got to go on this iconic roller coaster.
  2. I have not been on MF but went on El Toro last week and let me tell you: Not only did it scar my fiancée for life but I am still in awe. When I first reached the top going around I said "holy s#!t that steep" out loud and when the drop happened it was like it tried to buck me off the ride in a violent fashion I have never experienced before. Then it just yanked me down with it and took me on a ride never letting go. Craziest for me ever.
  3. Do you have a link to the web-cam in question? The ones on Cedars homepage just gives me stills of the parking lot et.c
  4. I've never been on TTD but when I eventually make it to Cedar Point I much better like the chance of getting a rollback if it doesn't fly like a greased lightning over the top. And a rollback is what we all want, right?
  5. Kingda-Ka is the only one that would shut down in the rain but until Zumanjaro is ready it is closed anyway. However, if there is electrical activity in the clouds all tall rides will shut down. As long as the forecast is rain but no risk of thunderstorms you should be good.
  6. Well, the trains don't run from Malmoe to Copenhagen over the bridge now and the other way around. When I got back from the U.S. on Thursday I had to take a bus from the airport. However I THINK it only affects the Swedish leg of train tracks and that you can take the train from Kastrup in to Copenhagen. EDIT: Just checked it for you and the train does go from the airport to Copenhagen. Just not to Sweden.
  7. Does the coaster turn 100 on June 12th??? Wow, I wish I could be there for that, but that is my arrival day, and there are other plans for the evening. A steak dinner at the Tivoli Steakhouse, lol. For a number of us. And the group won't really be visiting the park until the weekend. But stillit wont Yes! Most of us in the tour all know about this wonderful scenic railway's 100th Birthday, and the re-building they did, to re-create that mountain range in the original coaster! And we are ALL looking forward so much, to riding it, and for some of us, it will be a re-visit to one of everybody's favourite scenic railway coasters. Can't wait! It sure does! Here is the invitation from Tivoli that Robb posted. It appears it is from 10:00 AM but it won't hurt being there in good time. Especially if the train strike is still ongoing Thursday. Enjoy that steak and those scandi coasters!
  8. During my stay in the U.S. the last two weeks I started my days watching Maury.
  9. I think the picture posted from the video of the man wiping tears out of his eyes is answer enough.
  10. Nice photos. Thursday can't come quick enough!
  11. Woho! Lucky, lucky them. I like that they opted for the back and not front.
  12. Nice collection Nrthwnd and welcome to Scandinavia next week! I picked up an orange "drink all you want" mug at SFGAdv last Tuesday when I was in your country. If you are not to tired or arrive to late in Copenhagen on Thursday you should make an early start of the Scandi-Tour and sneak in to Tivoli and say happy birthday to Rutschebanen who turns 100 years old then. I'll be there from 09:00 'till it closes.
  13. On the announcement last year it was said it would run two trains and be a "high capacity ride". Look 8:43 in to this video.
  14. Yes, the TPR videos are the best POV's on Youtube hands down. Or up might be more appropriate seeing it's roller coasters.
  15. I found this video that offers a nice "then and now" comparison of Coney Island filmed back in 1940. It has some great shots of the old attractions and even some POV on the Cyclone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syQIDXjGX9E
  16. Nice video. Looks like a late break. Can't wait until I get to ride it next year when I'm back in the States. Had a great time in your park this Tuesday. PS. You have a namesake working a smaller coaster.
  17. November was when I was there too. I don't think they will be similar at all. This one is about the making of the films and Orlando will be a more interactive experience as I understand. As for the level of detail I think it will be every bit as good.
  18. I've been there with my fiancee as she is obsessed Harry Potter. I take it these photos are a few months old as there is snow on the Hogwarts models and the christmastree is in the lobby. They called it Christmas on Hogwarts and the model was apparently a 'special surprise' at the end of the tour. Nice photos and it's pretty cool if you like to know how the movies were made. I myself is looking forward to the park in Orlando with the ride and the girl already said she wanted to fly over for that (not the coaster but the other stuff).
  19. There is a video of Thunderbolt doing a testrun with people on it uploaded today on Youtube.
  20. I'm going to Arizona for a wedding in April next year. I take it there are no good themeparks near Phoenix? There is an amusement park called Castles and Coasters that has like 2 roller coasters and a flume ride and a drop tower. Nothing major. We do have a Wet n Wild in North Phoenix and there are a few other water parks in Mesa and Tempe. The closest thing to a GOOD coaster fix is Los Angeles. Thank you for the info. Looks like I'm flying out from L.A on the way home then.
  21. I'm off to Tivoli in Copenhagen on Thursday for the 100 year celebration of it's classic roller coaster Rutchebanen. One hour behind the scenes tour of it and a chitchat with the brakemen before the park opens to the public and then free rides all day. Yay!
  22. I'm going to Arizona for a wedding in April next year. I take it there are no good themeparks near Phoenix?
  23. I had such a great time and yes, those two are really stand-out coasters. I made an effort of avoiding the C-train on Nitro too so nothing would ruin the experience. I'm looking forward to the next visit. SFGAdv gets a huge thumbs up(sidedown). That's me doing it in the back row.
  24. Well I'm back in Sweden now after some awesome coasters in the U.S of A. Can't wait to go back. I have some unfinished business over there. This thing was mocking me just like Kingda-Ka all day by not being operational.
  25. I just got back from Coney and did a ride on Cyclone. I want to apologize to any coaster I called rough in the past. I thought Cyclone was going to derail in the chain-lift already.
