Well, I made it to the park yesterday. However there will be no photo TR as I was like a small child running from coaster to coaster. My fiancee snapped a few but she wasn't enjoying her self. As I said before she isn't really in to coasters and she is scared of heights to boost and the first thing I did when we got there was to take her on El Toro. I had an amazing day until the rain hit and closed all attractions for about an hour. They did however reopen so no biggie. I hadn't had time to eat all day so it was a welcome break. Well, as I said first of the day was El Toro. Holy s#!t that first drop! What an amazing ride. Easily the best woodie I've been on. After that it was off to Bizarro. I really liked that one. To make up for the girls near-death experience we got on the flume. A ride more to her taste. Then I believe we hopped on the mine train for a credit for me and high thrill for her. I could hardly fit in it. Next stops was Skull Mountain and Houdinis Great Escape I think until it was time for me to really enjoy myself again: Nitro! Damned that is one sweet coaster. If El Toro is the best woodie I have been on this is the best steel. Like everything this day (except for Superman) it was a walk-on to 5 min. wait so I kept running back on in circles all giggly. Then Batman was up for a ride. It was good and packed a punch in the back. After that another kiddie-ride in The Dark Knight. Green Lantern was OK but not what I remember most of the day seeing how many better rides the park has. I'll cut it short here for now as I need to get out to Coney Island to ride Cyclone in a few minutes.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

I don't know if it's always like this or has been mentioned before but Dunkin' Donuts in New York City has flyers giving you $10 off in May, June or July, $6 off in August and $10 off in September on the admission. The coupon also gives some discounts on a place named Dutch Wonderland ($3-$5 depending on month) and a 'Buy one, get one' for morning admission to Hershey's Great Chocolate Factory Mystery in 4D. -

Nice report. Looked like a nice day out. I liked those waiting-times. Also laughed out loud at the CSI caption. -
Great photo TR. I have to say that park looks beautiful. I'm not one much for theming but wow, what a setting. The Dark Forest part looks smashing. I really have to go there sometime. I'm in the UK at least two times a year so I need to squeeze in a visit next time or so.

Looks like a great day. Nice touch with those laminated cards by KD too. -
Yeah, I'm set for SFGAdv and Hersheypark. I also noticed that Victorian Gardens in Central Park has a Zamperla Wild Mouse. Bonus credit!

Only Adidas. Can't go wrong with the three stripes. The classic all white Stan Smith's are nice too even if they don't have the stripes.

Kudos to all of you who get in these Chinese deathtrap knock-offs. A China-tour is one that I will probably never make as it could be my last. -
Cedar Point Photo TR (2014 and 2015)

5D? If so, you are using full-frame. All of the 5D series bodies were full-frame sensors. The 1D series have been mixed, depending on model between full frame and 1.3x "crop" sensors. Thanks everyone! Glad you are all enjoying the photos. Whoops, I lost a zero. I meant to write 50D. -

As someone who doesn't just like coasters but also photography I have to complement you on the pictures. The Mark III is a geat house. I have yet to move up to full frame. I'm using an old 5D but have some pretty good glass on it. -
Looks like an awesome trip. I need to be on one of these sometime in the future. Problem is I would probably go spending more than I have on all those nice toys. Animal Crossing and Taiko no Tatsujin are great DS-games. If they had anything with Ouendan I'd go nuts and take the whole vending machine with me.

Thank you very much. I think it's off to Hersheypark then. As for Coney Island I forgot to mention we will make a stop there as well, and it wasn't even my idea. She wants to show it to me being an New York landmark. See you soon Cyclone!

Hello TPR members. In a few days I'm flying over the Atlantic to New York City. While a visit to SFGAdv is on my schedule I manage to talk my fiancée into spending one more day at another park. I scoped out a few but would like your input on my options. 1. Hersheypark. Looks like a big place with a good mix of rides. 2. Lake Compounce. Boulder Dash looks like a lovely woodie the way it snakes down the landscape, but together with The Wildcat it seems to be about it there. 3. Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom. Looks like they have a few rides worthy a visit. 4. Playland. Dragon Coaster but not much more? Am I missing a place? What do you think is my best option? I look forward to your input.

What rides have you ridden in their debut season?
Swede replied to Olsor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1988: Stand Up @ Skara Sommarland in Sweden. It was a Intamin stand-up roller coaster and almost gave me a concussion banging my head from side to side. It was re-located to Canada in 1994 and is still operational at La Ronde, Montreal under the name Cobra as I understand. -
Never plan a trip to the US to catch a ride right after the projected opening day, too many rides have unexpected delays. Lesson learned. The real objective of the trip isn't to hit a bunch of theme parks though. I am visiting my fiancées father who is living there. That's what she thinks the trip is all about anyway. I talked her into taking two days aside for me to go on rides. I scoped out a few other parks in the vicinity but haven't settled on what other one to visit. I was thinking of starting a thread to ask of other members opinions.

This is me today finding out that Kingda Ka is closed until "late spring" when I'm actually flying over to the U.S. for the first time in a few days. -
Never before has a forum-post made me so happy only to seconds later make me so disappointed. It started so good with an almost empty park and no waiting and then BAM!, Kingda Ka. Closed. To an indefinite date. After asking here I planned to go right after the Memorial Day weekend but I guess that won't help. Just my luck. I fly all the way to America and it's closed. I know they have other rides but that was one I was looking forward to in particular.
