  1. Skara Sommarland is the only park in Sweden to ever have had a Stand Up coaster.
  2. I'm going with gimmick too, but would I ride it when given the chance? Of course.
  3. Superman at SFGAdv. When I made it to the stairs in the scorching sun the ride also decided to break down. After waiting an aditional 15 minutes I left. To add insult to injury (sunburn) 10 minutes later I could see it running again. Green Lantern felt like an insane walk in a maze to. It was a walk-on more or less but it took forever to reach the ride.
  4. I can't wait for my next visit to SFGAdv but I'm sure it won't be until 2015 unfortunately. I missed out on Ka and Superman when I was there but I'll be sure to give Zumanjaro a go as well. It looks great in the new video. Oh, and about the park looking run down I think it depends on where you are coming from. As a first time visitor I think it was fine and didn't really give it a thought. If you have visited the park over several years however you might have a different perspective on it. My only annoyances was the lack of shade while standing in line for some rides. Mesh nets doesn't do a propper job and some parts didn't even have that. I burn easily in the sun and look like a boiled lobster after 5 minutes in it.
  5. I love Nitro but even if the helix pulls some G's I didn't even greyout.
  6. Everyone keeps saying how great Helix is. I'm going to hit Liseberg for that credit later this year when school has started again. Hopefully the lines won't be to bad on a weekday then.
  7. What a great vacation and tripreport. I was thinking about hitting a few parks in Germany in July/August but all of a sudden I'm starting to think about England instead.
  8. What do you mean "uses the whole body weight to check the restriants"... do you mean stapling? That's the way I read it. On another note I wonder why Liseberg stopped offering deals to coaster-clubs after what, 2010? Anyone know?
  9. So, can I book a spot on the next Scandi-tour already?
  10. Balder at Liseberg was aprox. $12,6 million.
  11. My fiancée has been on about wanting to go to Alaska for a long time. This TR made me want to go to.
  12. I haven't heard about a date for Zumanjaro but Ka is running on the weekends until the dropride opens.
  13. The POV should not be far away seeing that people are riding it now.
  14. What a start! I'm so going on the 2016 tour. When you live in "Scandi" there is really no excuse not to.
  15. Haha, I loved that video. The girl is screaming all the way, the boy throws a victory sign up in the air and the father is just laughing. Cant wait until I'm in N.Y. again and get to go on this little thing.
  16. I don't mind going alone but it is nice to have someone with you. Next year I hope to go on a TPR-trip somewhere in the world. I think that will be the best company.
  17. It's well hidden on the back of Rutschebanen. It feels like there is something hidden in every nook and cranny of this park. Thank you.
  18. Oh, one last thing. This funhouse would never be allowed in the United States. It would be a lawsuit waiting to happen. There are lots of fun ways to get hurt in here. Enter at your own risk.
  19. Here are some more photos from the park and other attractions. When you are outside you think that the park can't be very big but once you get in you are surprised of how much they fit in there. Plane on a stick. I met up with another TPR member today and as soon as the turbo-button lit up he pushed it. The others in the plane were not amused. The Demon, pagoda and gondolas. I think this is a hotel. It is really nice and you have a switch so you can listen in both Danish and English. Excellent. A new ride for 2015. Start your speculating engines. What's this? The parks H.C. Andersen themed dark-ride. I know some of you like maps. A 4D-ride-booth-thingy. I didn't try it. You can go on a tram if you like. This swingamajig was as insane as it looks. The theming of it is just greats and fits well. The Odin Express. This is not credit-whoring. This is. And you go like 10 laps on it. A boatride-shooter. I lost like 40 to 1250 or something. My gun must have been broken. Ferris-wheel. B&M twistyness. More maps. It was a little rough but not bad and for it's size it is a great ride.
  20. Yes, they have done an amazing job. It really is and I hope the coming generations will get to go on this ride in another 100 years.
  21. Thank you. It is absolutely gorgeous. A real oasis in the center of the town. I'll upload a part two of the park and the other rides later tonight.
  22. Hello TPR. I just got back after a great birthday party in Copenhagen, Denmark. I'll start you off with some photos from today and add some more text here later tonight as I'm absolutely beat, but I would like to thank everyone at Tivoli for making this special day happen and also Robb for forwarding the information from the park right away. This is the first thing you see in Copenhagen when exiting the central train station. Entrance. Happy birthday Rutschebanen! 100 years old to the day today. The very first Rutschebanen was these two hills/slopes. Apparently the restraint was a blanket to put over your legs when riding down in it. The workshop where they tinker with the cars. This is the engine that pulls the 7 ton cars up the hill. So small but does the job great. Specs. of the engine for you motorheads. It was built in 1935. Every year they refurbish a part of the track. That helps it hold up and actually provide a rather smooth ride for a hundred year-old roller coaster. The first drop as seen from up in the mountains. Jacob was our guide for the day and if he doesn't know something about this ride it's not worth knowing. Just ask him about the German terror-group that planted bombs on it during World War 2. The cables that pull you up. Up in the Alps of Copenhagen. I wasn't the only one taking photos this day. Scary tunnel. I managed to sneak a look under the rails as well. If your name is here you went to fast and derailed the train. The station looks lovely. How many brakemen can you fit in a car? 8 if two are on the brakes and 6 squeeze together in two seats.
  23. According to Wikipedia (which isn't a serious source but still), yes. Balder in Sweden was close to $15M (100M Swedish kroner) and after being on both Liseberg either got ripped off or SFGAdv got one heck of a deal. There were rumors SFGadv and Intamin had a package deal with Ka and El Toro, so there may not be an exact price, or El Toro was a few million cheaper. Quite plausible. Back to topic. Is Cedar Point considered the best park in the U.S. by American enthusiasts? By best I mean all aspects and not just the quality of the rides. Of course there will always be a few who has another favorite, but in general. I have noticed quite a lot of "anti Six Flags" feelings here (perhaps those folks just make more noise?) but my first visit to the U.S of A the last week and SFGAdv was really good. Only bad thing I can think of was that mesh roof don't protect you from the sun in the cues and part of the line (Superman I noticed it since it wasn't walk-on) doesn't have protection from the sun at all. I can't wait till 2015 when I will get the chance to visit Cedar Point.
