Most Anticipated Coasters For 2016
Superbatboy replied to I305forever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah I'm thinking Gradv might just have a surprise up their sleeves. Because even a bigger version of the free spin 4d wouldnt require such a huge land clearing, they could plop that down essentially anywhere in that huge park. My guess is something big, maybe a B&M or possibly a 4D like X2 since S&S owns the technology to that. -
The I-Box track is nothing more than a steel coaster made from two I-beams. The Topper Track, especially on a new coaster like Outlaw Run, is similar to the Intamin track because it's prefabricated. Well for one I was referring to the ibox track when I asked how they were similar to a plug n play. Second even if you factor in the topper track, RMC is still doing things with it that previously weren't done before. We're seeing zero g stalls, dive loops, zero g rolls, etc; I don't see any other wooden coaster manufacturers pushing the limits in this manner. As far as the i-box track, yes RMC is using steel track but what other coasters have used this type of track before? Not trying to be sarcastic, I'm actually curious because Alan Schilke and Ride Centerline take credit for coming up with this particular track design. RMC is also the first manufactuer to take old rickety wooden coasters and turn them into smooth, popular, steel coasters. If that's not innovating then I guess the theme park industry is just stagnant, because I don't see any other companies (especially not the European ones) pushing the limit as much as RMC is currently.

Welp...the latter part of the definition qualifies innovating as making changes to something established. Like take Premier Sky Rocket II coasters. It's a cross between a Maurer Shone Sky Loop and an Intamin Impulse. They took both those concepts to the next level. Now you have S&S who is taking Premier's concept and expounding on that. How would you explain RMCs ibox track as similar to a plug and play?? If anything they are more like Arrow's hybrid coasters from the 80's (ie Gemini) Sally corp and Triotech are taking dark rides to new levels we havent seen in the past as well. Then you have Gravity Group and the wooden shuttle coaster, also never done before.

Last-minute Line Advice?
Superbatboy replied to certifiedcoastergeek's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Like Robb said, I recommend just forking over the $$$ for FastLane. CP is a truly amazing park, might as well experience to the maximum degree. And trust, you'll want multiple re-rides on Millie and Maverick and the lines for those two are generally lonnnnnnnng. And from what I remember, a good portion of MF's queue is in the sun, dont do that to yourself lol. -

That's really a shame because with better restraints (ala Banshee, Gatekeeper) the ride would've been really solid. I loved the layout of Mantis when I rode, just couldn't take the roughness and headbaning. I'm sure the new trains fixed the roughness but to no avail if it still smashes your head. -
Anyone else notice that the music, graphics, and sound effects in the annimation video are very Six Flag-ish? I'm sure logic would just say the same graphics firm used for previous Six Flags annimations was used for this. However there is a rumored 2nd launched El Loco allegedly headed for a U.S. park for 2016. With Six Flags filing a trade mark for "Gale Force 7" and the eerie similarities in this video and previous Six Flags animations, can't help but wonder if the 2nd version of this ride will end up in a smaller Six Flags park. I know it's a wild predicition, but something just struck me about this video. UNLESS this project was previously planned for a Six Flags park and cancelled last minute. Again just a wild guess on my part and pure speculation, not stating this as fact or anything.

I just look at the last few years and what RMC, Premier, S&S, Chance, Sally Corp, Gravity Group, and Triotech have done vs. what B&M, Intamin, Mack, Gerstlauer, Vekoma etc have done and I find myself much more excited about what the American companies are doing. Seems like they're taking more risks and it's been highly successful as of late.

I like your thinking lol -
I see pros and cons to that scenario... Pros: 1.Cleaned up park 2.Probably a new entrance by now 3.Attendance back up to the 3.5 million range 4.Better food options 5.Better ride operations 6.Landscaping 7.Probably a Giga coaster Cons: 1.Probably removal of several coasters (X2, Viper, Superman) 2.Twisted Colossus, Yolo, Green Lantern, and Lex wouldnt exist 3.More expensive season passes 4.Removal of all DC theming 5.Scream (tho i hate it) sent to a smaller CF park 6.Major attractions only every 5 years or so

I'm probably in the minority here, but I'm hoping the ride has 8 across seating rather than 10. Sheikra to me is much more aesthetically pleasing than Griffon, Griffon's trains just look overly big and awkward. That being said, I was watching a Sheikra pov and I've never noticed before that Sheikra can have one train going up the lift and another on the holding brake of first drop simultaneously. No wonder CP wants one of these, looks like it could really produce some serious PPH throughput. Still not that excited about the idea of a dive machine at CP, I dont see myself returning to the park again until they RMC Mean Streak or do something Intamin again or other. -
Maverick vs Millennium Force

MF to me is a really solid steak and potatoes meal, while Maverick is steak, potatoes, caesar salad, appetizer, and dessert. -

I wonder how much Sky Rocket at Kennywood was, it's a compact coaster that has gotten decent reviews. It's probably no Lightning Run, but since MIA has a soured relationship with chance maybe a ride like SR would be a nice alternative. I think if they got a new ride, visitors and employees might have a boost of morale.

Wow didnt know Magnum had a theoretical 2,000pph potential capacity. Arrow really wrote the book on coaster capacity, they gobble people up. I guess working for Disney all those years trained them well in that regard. They also seem to have the least down time among coasters in their respective parks (well minus a few like X2).
