  1. "The roller coaster will be taller than the other two but with a short ride time" Hmmmmmm... Premier Skyrocket II?
  2. Interesting, but then again TC uses different trains from NTaG and IRat so that could be a factor as well.
  3. I have a few days off coming up in a week in a half, and since I don't have anything planned for those days I'm seriously considering travelling out east to get on 3 of my bucket list coasters Skyrush, I305, and Wicked Cyclone. I only have 4 days to do it, so I'm wondering which location is best to land in first (PA, MA, or VA/MD) and which direction to go from there. I already know car rental will be robbery, but I know plane tickets vary based on airport and day of departure etc; Any advice how I should go about this for you east coast people? Thanks in advance
  4. Yeah Goliath is smooth as butter, and it's been that way since opening year. I can't tell which ride is the smoothest between Yolo, TC, and Goliath.
  5. ^September 3rd is the announcement date, I can't wait. Last year I woke up at 4am to watch the videos lol
  6. Yeah, but if you take away some length and height after the first drop...you get more airrtime and a more intense ride overall. If the ride is too long, then it'll will start to meander due to loss of momentum. May I cite some of the longest coasters in the world (Voyage, MF, The Beast, Steel Dragon 2000, Steel Force, Black Mamba) as examples against your argument. Well the Beast has two lift hills, so we'll go ahead and eliminate that off the top. MF and Steel Dragon 2000 are Gigas so of course they maintain speed throughout a long track length because they are over 300ft tall and reaach 90+ mph. And while I haven't ridden Steel Force or Mamba, I don't hear many people talking about them as being intense from start to finish. They're also both over 200ft tall, so there is no comparison there against a 160ft tall wooden coaster with the same track length. The Voyage I'll give you as far as maintaining speed over a lengthy track, but I'll also note that there is a 50ft discrepancy between the highest part of the ride (the first drop) and the next highest point (the 2nd hill) which supports my argument of RMC lowering the structure of Mean Streak after the first drop. At the end of the day, RMC has shortened the track length of Colossus, Rattler, Texas Giant, and Cyclone and they've all gotten great reviews. So I stand by my argument of shortening Mean Streak for the optimum result.
  7. Yeah, but if you take away some length and height after the first drop...you get more airrtime and a more intense ride overall. If the ride is too long, then it'll will start to meander due to loss of momentum. I have never heard of an RMC coaster meandering due to loss of momentum. Texas Giant was pretty similar to Mean Streak before its makeover, and it doesn't meander through the course due to loss of momentum now. You get plenty of airtime, and the ride is over all pretty intense. And you do realize that almost 1,000ft of track length was removed from Texas Giant right? To add, many of the rides hills after the first drop were lowered about 20-30% if you look at before and after pictures.
  8. Maverick by far... Honorable mentions to TTD, Xcelerator, Full Throttle, and Superman: UF, and um *gulp* Backlot Stunt Coaster
  9. Yeah, but if you take away some length and height after the first drop...you get more airrtime and a more intense ride overall. If the ride is too long, then it'll will start to meander due to loss of momentum.
  10. I think i-box transformation is the only logical move for Mean Streak. Topper track might make the ride smoother, but it'll still have that long, drawn-out, boring layout. With i-box they could steepen the drop to about 80 degrees, shorten the track length about 1,000-1,400 feet, and chop down the height of the structure after the first drop about 30%-50%.
  11. Looking back, I think Goliath was kind of just thrown together to get a record-breaker without using a lot of space or footers. The layout is quite uninspired and its almost like maybe the original layout was bigger, but scaled down due to cost or time-constraints (as Millennium Force was due to open a few months later). I'm still trying to figure out why the ride cost $30 million (according to Wiki), I know earthquake proofing and all but even Superman wasn't that expensive and it's much taller.
  12. Interesting how I don't see "moderator" in your signature
  13. Six Flags isnt the best when it comes to on-board audio. X2's audio is very hit or miss as well.
  14. I love MM and try to defend the park at times but this is the ultimate ghetto. A trash bag covering the controls at TC cause of rain
  15. Knowing Cedar Fair, they won't get either one
  16. Yeah maybe they'd replace Flashback with an S&S free spin
  17. Interesting comments on Goliath, I think it's one of the better rides in the park. I'd rather ride Goliath than get banged around on rides like Scream, Apocalypse, Viper, and Revolution.
  18. 1.Raptor 2.Banshee 3.Batman 4.Flight Deck 5.Silver Bullet
  19. Well it's the park's 45th anniversary so I'm sure they'll get something. I remember before TC was announced, there was a rumor on Screamscape that said MM would iron horse Colossus but they weren't sure when because "the stars may align on another project first". I wonder what that other "project" was and if it's still on the agenda at some point.
  20. Terrible mistake? I'm pretty sure Six Flags knows what they're doing at this point. They've had FIVE highly successful i-box conversions all opening to rave reviews. An RMC can NEVER be a terrible mistake. Doubt it, again SF has had great success with the i-box treatments why stop now?
  21. SFMM has coasters by SIX different American companies (Premier, GCI, Miler, Arrow, Rocky Mountain, Bradley and Kaye)
  22. I've always wondered why the middle car on Bizarro only has two seats, anyone know?
  23. I think Six Flags just sees a better return on their investment at SFDK than SFA since the former has much higher attendance. Plus DK has that pesky little Goldstriker to compete with now, whereas SFA can't even TRY to compete with KD so they don't put much effort into major expansions.
