  1. Sounds like it could be great. Hopefully that isn't that next coaster related Cedar Point does, though. America's Rockin' Roller Coast needs an epic NEW coaster. You don't think an Iron Horsed Mean Streak would be epic?? I honestly don't see what else CP could put in that would top the prospect of an RMC conversion of Mean Streak. They already have pretty much everything, except a 4D which I highly doubt they'd ever put in.
  2. Trust me, you don't want Viper backwards. I rode Batman backwards twice and then said never again. Batman is a smooth coaster (arguably the smoothest of SFMM's B&Ms), but while riding backwards I experienced more headbanging than I ever have on Scream and the ride was very nauseating. Viper is not too bad by Arrow standards, but it cannot be called a smooth coaster, and I have a feeling it would feel like a Vekoma Boomerang if run in reverse. Based on how much I disliked Batman backwards (I personally thought it was the worst major coaster in the park, except possibly Revolution) I will definitely be passing on any other backwards gimmicks for more intense coasters. In any case, I would be willing to bet it will never happen. No Arrow looper has been turned around backwards before and as Arrow is no longer in business it would be tricky to work it out. Backwards works for shuttle coasters because they are designed for it. Backwards works for coasters designed for it because...well, they are designed for it. Backwards works for out-and-back woodies because while they aren't designed for it, there are no sudden forces on the ride that require bracing (mainly lateral forces). Intense coasters don't work so well when you can't see where you're going, so turning them backwards is going to be detrimental for the ride experience. I can't imagine Viper being at all enjoyable going backwards, it's still a decent ride forward because you know to brace yourself for headbanging going into the turn after the first loop, during the batwing, and the turn right before the corkscrews. Going backwards you won't know when any of that is coming
  3. ^I know Millennium Force and i305 do not have MCBRs, not sure abt the B&M or Morgan gigas.
  4. I salivate at the prospect of RMC getting their hands on Mean Streak, that huge structure is like a giant canvas for them.
  5. The Beast Millennium Force California Screamin' Mean Streak Superman ROS Diamondback Magnum XL 200
  6. I think the commentary on this vid speaks for itself [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  7. I've always wondered this too... I don't trust anything Togo after riding Wind Jammer as a kid #PTS
  8. This implies that the loop will be one of the first elements. But you can place an inversion near the end of the ride, when the speed is much lower. And if you're still worried about costs, go for a barrel roll Not necessarily, take for instance a ride like Intimidator 305 which after 5,000 ft of track, still hits the brakes at a really high speed. It would take a significant amount of track in order to slow down enough to go through inversions that are low to the ground. Maybe you'd be able to add some low to the ground inversions towards the end of a ride the length of Millennium Force. But that ride is already 7,000 ft, how much more money would a park be willing to spend to add inversions to a ride that's already gigantic. You could however have a MCBR (ala Goliath at SFMM) that brings the train traveling at like 50-60 mph to a screeching halt mid-way through the ride, killing all momentum. Seems pointless though.. All this is just hypothesizing on my part though, only manufacturers and park management knows why there haven't been any gigas with inversions.
  9. Speaking of Colossus backwards, did anyone else think it was just so odd that the Psyclone trains were able to run on Colossus backwards? Not only that, but they tracked better on Colossus than they ever did on Psyclone.
  10. I agree with an earlier poster that said the cost would come into play. In terms of physics, elements like vertical loops, half loops, cobra rolls etc; would require a lot of height on a 300ft coaster. More height = more steel = more money
  11. Ghostrider was truly amazing, no brakes, no roughness... so sad that it's just a shadow of its former self. I hope RMC is on tap for the foreseeable future
  12. I'd love for B&M to try their hand at building rides without long and drawn out elements, seems like B&M did some of their best work when they had extreme height (Nemesis) or extreme space (original Batman) restrictions. I'd also love to see them try their hand at building a ride the size of Lightning Run, Alpina Blitz, the Mega-Lites etc; I guess it's safe to assume as long as parks are willing to pay >20 million for a single coaster we won't be seeing that anytime soon from them
  13. i think the construction guy said in a video roughly 2/3 of it would be chopped down. most of the ride seems fairly low to the ground after the high five. i also like how Alan Schilke said he didn't want to use "high five" cause it doesn't make sense. you don't high five going the same way. lol If you're walking next to someone you do The chopping down of the turns on Colossus has me excited for the debut of ejector air in So Cal
  14. As secretive as they've been about this project, can't help but wonder if this ride will have a soft opening
  15. ^True and ^^True but Busch seem to be a little secretive as of late with future expansions (see BGW)
  16. One thing I wonder, is why it seems as if people still consider B&M the bench mark for smooth coasters. I've ridden coasters from Premier, Giovanola, Intamin, and Mack that are all smoother than any B&M I've ridden.
  17. Well there's 5 Power Rangers, so only a quintuple tracked inverted racing coaster would suffice
  18. Does Six Flags still have a lock on Iron Horse treatment in 2015-2016?? This whole ride closure just screams RMC iron horse to me. Alan Schilke did say they had 3 projects lined up for '16, we already know about Wildfire could this be one of the other 2? I hope so. And with a ride the size of Gwazi, maybe they'd need a year to complete it since it's two seperate structures, unlike Colossus where it's two tracks on one big structure. We can dream cant we?
  19. WC is looking so amazing, I really hope I get a chance to get out to SFNE next year
  20. So actually what does an amusement park do with a scrapped wooden coaster?? I can imagine a ride like Son of Beast being able to provide firewood for all of Cincinnati for an entire winter.
