Best Drops....

Someone who is bored should tally up all the picks in this thread and make it a real poll. Pretty sure El Toro will win though. -
Moreys Piers Discussion Thread
boldikus replied to LcHg5265's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
OK so I think I've stated on here before my mom works for the city of Wildwood so I have her asking around always. (THE FOLLOWING IS ALL HEAR-SAY so take it for what its worth) Over the weekend she told me she recently overheard an inspector she works with saying that the coaster is totally back on track with construction expected to start very soon AND that Morey's is now working with a European company on the rides design. I kind of freaked when she told me this since I knew it was originally to be built by GCI ("Are you sure?? Can you find out more from him!?!? Can you find out the company name?!?!") so she is going to let me know what she can dig up. Again, ALL HEAR-SAY. -

Nothing particularly newsworthy, just a nice article here about the piers. I'll have a photo trip report from when I was down this last weekend up in a day or two. Haven't had a chance to go through the few photos I got. http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/life/screams-of-summer/article_2555dac2-abd2-520f-8871-9968c106bfad.html -
Curious to know if anyone on here is into Drum & Bass (aka dnb, D&B, drum 'n bass, etc) music? Its not hugely popular in the United States, but I've been DJing drum n bass (along with all sorts of other music - from disco to punk) for almost 20 years and in addition to playing clubs around the city, I do a weekly (internet) radio show. edit: I shouldn't assume everyone on here is in the U.S. I'm sure there are people on here from the U.K. that know very well what I speak of! Seems most folks here are into rock, etc but thought I'd throw this out there. (Coaster enthusiast+drum n bass fan = hit me up!!!) Ive always been obsessed with music and I listen to everything (except for most classical and country), you can check out my last.fm profile to see what I'm feeling or listening to at the moment (if anyone else is on there, add me!)

2nd to last row on El Toro. Best, best, best. -
Another tip, this puts more pressure on your legs during the ride but if you ride with the bicycle seat a little low so it isn't pushing into your crotch, it's way better in my opinion. Exactly, many people don't realize the bicycle seat (even though it is called a seat) is not meant to be sat upon. The coaster is a stand-up coaster and you need to stand-up straight the whole ride. That's also my pet peeve. If you learn how to correctly ride standup coasters, they can actually be quite fun. As I said Ive tried the coaster standing in different positions, both while directly on the seat w/ legs straight, and also with it lower and legs bent so I wasnt really touching it at all, also kind of in between. Ive also tried it all over the train, left side, right, back front, etc. The ride sucks no matter what I try. I know they wont get floorless trains, I personally just think it would make it better.

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
boldikus replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great White @ Moreys in Wildwood Saturday night. 3xs, including one of the last trains of the night @ 12:20am. Was running great and me and the missus had a blast (she dragged me on for our 3rd and final ride, its usually the other way around!) -

After my many attempts this year on GL there is no good seat or better way to ride. I've tried all over the train and both with my legs bent a bit before the seats lock and also standing straight. The drop and first loop are awesome and then I get knocked in the head the rest of the ride. It sucks. I really wish they'd consider seated/floorless trains for this, it would make the ride so much better. I really need to just avoid it like I do Dark Knight from now on but I seem to always go with someone who has never ridden, sees it from the lot and wont shut up about it, and therefore wind up on it with them (complaining the entire time that its going to hurt lol)

Same. Skull Mountain was running one train and, to add insult to injury, one car was blocked off just for Flash Pass. Yea which is superlame, even for me as I was using FP and wanted to sit in the back and they wouldnt let me :/ Seems SM had both trains running most of April and May. Don't know what happened since.

Bizarro always seems to have all 3 running too, and the last few times Ive been that ride has been dead with no reason for all three, but yet they were all running, and of course stacking. The only major "why are they not running all trains" moment I've had out of all my trips this year was the last two times I did Skull Mountain they had only one train running.

Great reports, loved reading these! Always interesting to see an outsiders perspective of my great city. Ive said it on the board before and I'll say it again - I love my city! Also huge LOL @the Dunkin comment, and the woman offering her munchkins. It's so true, Philadelphia would crumble to the ground if folks did not have their Dunkin every morning. I live about a 10 minute walk north of where you were in Old City @ BR House & Elfreths Alley and take the EL to work right underneath Market Street where you were every day, twice a day. Ive done the historical stuff so many times in my life its easy to forget its even there til I happen to make my way through the area on foot on a weekday and its overflowing with tourists/school trips. Also, the Franklin Institute is great! They used to do awesome trippy lazer light shows in the Planetarium to music like Pink Floyd and Beastie Boys. So rad, and the walk-through heart is always silly and fun. In fact most of the museum is great. RE: Love Park - there are ALWAYS homeless people in there (gotta love the tags all over the LOVE sign in your photos, smh). The park used to be overrun by young skateboarders all the time and actually became an infamous skating spot within that culture, til the city cracked down and now the skaters go elsewhere (mainly to a skate park underneath 95 in South Philly - far, far away from tourists). Now its all bums sleeping all over the park all the time and the city does nothing. Personally, I'd rather have the skaters. Glad you guys enjoyed Philly, and great detailed reports.

Six Flags America (SFA) Discussion Thread

Thank you, thats nice to hear. -
Obviously its very much disliked generally in the enthusiast community but I'll never understand why the GP eats up Green Lantern @ SFGAdv. It always has one of the longest lines in the park and it is nothing but pain. I can only assume the stand-up factor and the fact that it is one of the first rides people see upon entering the lot. To me it has a nearly identical layout as Bizarro (yeah not quite but almost), but BIZ has effects like fire and mist and lighting and doesn't try to knock me out at all. And BIZ is almost always a walk on. I guess I shouldn't complain, but that's my addition to this thread.

Six Flags America (SFA) Discussion Thread

Can anyone offer insight into SFA's rain policy? Our day trip down to the park is getting closer and of course I'm starting to hawk the weather. I'm pretty spoiled with SFGAdv's lax attitude about running everything except for KK in the rain. -
Crowds on weekdays after 5 are usually light. By that time most of the camps and people who got there at opening are gone. Being there last Wednesday I'll agree with this. We had Flash Pass and it definitely felt that after 6PMish that we did not need it as most rides were walk-ons (save for KK and Zum, which FP came in quite handy for).

Moreys Piers Discussion Thread

ACE members right? ^ I'll be back in town this weekend to visit my folks as its my Mom's b-day. Stoked to get some more rides in on the Great White, it is a fantastic coaster! Last time I was there I got two rides in on the back and they were two of my best rides ever on it. I also officially denounced the boomerang last time I was in town. While I have serious nostalgia for it (my first ever looping coaster), it has killed me too many times. And with the metal detector "wanding" on the SLC, and the fact that it felt like train was about to rip apart last time I rode, that leaves the kiddie coasters. So maybe, even though I have all the credits, I'll run around and ride those and do a little report come Monday on Wildwoods smaller coasters. Excited to get back down. I visit WW quite a bit every year, just not usually in the summer, so I'm itching right now. Just wish they get going on that new woodie they've been hinting at for a decade now. -
What is your next park?
boldikus replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's Mom's b-day this weekend so it looks like I'll be back @ Morey's! The Great White was running fantastic last month when I was there so very much looking forward to getting back on for a few spins. Wish it wasn't PPR but I have tickets left from last time I was there so I'll just have to use those up. -
Kind of off topic but a funny moment that happened Wednesday that I forgot to write about til my buddy reminded me today. Upon boarding the Runaway Mine Train: Art: Wow, this ride smells really clean! Me: Like fresh Lysol clean? Art (confused): Um... yeah, I guess! Me (laughing): Like someone puked and they wiped down the train with Lysol? Art (horrified/disappointed): Awwwwww maaaaan, yeah. Me (hysterical): At least you know its clean!!

We rode Nitro twice, once earlier in the day on Train C in the 2nd to last row. I just happened to get it when it was our turn and thought let's see what the hype is about and I noticed it right after the drop and into the first turned hill and on and off through the rest of the course. There was a noticeable rattle for sure. BUT it didn't make it a bad ride. We went back for a night ride and I don't know if we were on B or A but C was right before us and this ride (in back row) was noticeably smoother. I sat on the green train of KK in the very back and thought for sure I was going to die during the launch. I am sore and have red marks on my shoulders two days later and my buddy who was with me does not and KK is the only ride that I did but he didn't. edit: I'm also a lot taller than him (6'2 vs 5'8), so could have been one of the others with OTSRs but I'm going with KK.
