  1. Was anyone there today and if so how were the crowds and queues? I might be going up early tomorrow for a few hours and weather looks similar to today.
  2. THIS^^^. Personally I don't really even like to ride it in any other seat since I discovered this (which can be annoying when taking newbies on it since its so intense back there).
  3. El Toro is the most appropriately named coaster I've ridden. And agreed about the turnaround being rough, but I havent noticed any other sections that are. If you ride it in the middle seat of the last car on either train the ride is smooth as butter. I second this. I'll be at the park tomorrow night and Sunday to get some re-rides, but I rode twice in two of the first five trains in opening day in the morning, well before the ride had warmed up or reached any sort of "mid-season form." That being said, as it was for those two rides, it destroyed Intimidator 305 as my number one overall coaster. I rode in the "magic seat," 6-2, both times. I didn't feel and ounce of roughness and it's ridiculous to say it's rough in any way, unless it has gotten rougher in two months (which is almost impossible). I'll be sure to get multiple rides this weekend to experience it warmed up, but I don't expect anything other than it was, other than Expect even more this time around. Compare these two videos. The first one is of a test run I filmed on opening day and the next one is how the ride runs normally when it isn't 40 degrees out. Just watch the difference in speed on the Rolling Thunder hill. http://instagram.com/p/mtCa5vOvsH/?modal=true Man that first video is the slowest I've very seen it run! The train is really sluggish and looks like it might rollback on the brakes. My rides on April 12 were much faster than that, but I doubt they were up to speed as I'm sure they are now in the afternoon. I've ridden it multiple times, but never at night, which is my plan Friday night. I love that freaking hill so much! Crazy how slow it goes over it on the first video there. As far as the speed difference between morning and later in the day, Id read that and never really noticed it until I was there earlier this month and rode it a few times right away after opening in the morning, then went back for a ride around 5pm and HOLY CRAP it felt SOOO much faster! Both rides were in the magic seat, but such a huge difference in speed and forces that much later in the day.

  5. I will say I do like the wobbly turnaround, the first drop, and the drop out of the MCBR on Lantern. Otherwise, the ride is PAIN.
  6. Well when you have nothing but B&M's it's bound to happen. LOL can't argue with that.
  7. Oh is this the weekly "whats the worst B&M in the park" debate?
  8. Technically its not a new coaster, but it is a new coaster for the park. That's all the GP cares about, only enthusiasts will know its an older coaster that was moved and re-themed. Every single person I've been to the park with this year (almost all non-enthusiasts) I had to explain this to. All of them thought of it as a new ride.
  9. The Walkmen - Dónde Está la Playa
  10. The last time I rode KK I noticed the floater air on the camelhump, I had never noticed it before. Very light floater air but I was up and out of my seat for a good couple of seconds.
  11. When it feels like EVERY OTHER COMMERCIAL on TV is for Dorney/Hershey/SFGAdv.
  12. LOL If a park were to enforce the no hands rule they'd have to kick at least half the coaster riders in the park out. It's just part of any parks "rules" to simply cover their asses if somehow someone does injure themselves from having their hands up. "Well, we told ya not to do it!" The irony is that its true that usually a drunk driver is more likely to survive an accident than a non-drunk driver because, as discussed, a drunk or sleeping person will not tense up. The same physics apply to coaster riding. I personally always seem to have a more pleasant physical experience while riding hands up and as all around loose as possible and you'll be more likely to injure yourself when tensed up/hanging on for dear life.
  13. This thing looks great, who even knows when I'll get to ride it. I have really been enjoying watching all the rider vids. That zero-g stall looks insane.
  14. Lana Del Rey - Cruel World
  15. Vetiver - It's Beyond Me
  16. ^^ If you like Wild Mouse coasters in the dark, it's probably great. Personally it was a huge let down and stands as my least favorite coaster in the entire park. Not worth the wait if there is one that's for sure. The pre-show was meh and only made the wait to ride feel longer. As far as indoor kiddie/junior coasters go, I think Skull Mountain DESTROYS Dark Knight.
  17. Looks like I'm finally getting my sister to join me at SFGAdv this coming Sunday. Hope we get some sort of break from the crowds now that the 'bring-a-friend-free Sundays' are over. Would be especially awesome if Ka and Zumanjaro are open so the crowds can go there and we'll have Toro and Nitro to ourselves lmao. I really need to get to new park soon. Any Philly area (driving) folks need a riding partner and want to drive down to SFA?
  18. You're not alone. Ive only done KK a handful of times now but I always say its a one trick pony. If it was what it is plus some sort of course after the drop it might be more interesting to me but I certainly wont wait for it most times. I have not however, done the front seat so based on what others have said my opinion might change.
  19. In town for the weekend and took a brief solo stroll up to the boardwalk yesterday afternoon for some amazing Macks Pizza, some Kohr Bros custard, and of course took a ride on the "big three" coasters we have here. Weather was gorgeous - very warm, upper 70s with a great sea breeze coming in off the ocean. The Great White (woodie) hasn't been opened the other few times Ive been in town this year so I did it two times yesterday, my first and last ride of the day. It was great! Both of my rides were in the back seat, both times were walk ons, and it ran super smooth and really fast and was the highlight of my day (beside the pizza and custard). Some nice airtime going over the drop in the backseat and a few nice pops on the bunny hops toward the end. Directly in front of me was a guy my age with his young son (maybe 6-8 yrs old?) who was riding for the first time. Its always fun to witness this, especially how scared the kid seemed during the ride but then how stoked he was after we pulled back into the station. I continued down the boardwalk and felt up to a bit of torture in the back seat of the Sea Serpent (boomerang) after which I officially denounced all boomerangs from now on and forever. It's been real, but that's where this relationship ends! Then down further to the Great Nor'easter (SLC) which was running insanely rough in the back row to the point I actually was a little worried the train was going to tear apart mid-ride. Note: I was once again "wanded" while boarding this ride, but not on either of the other two coasters. After a stop for some of my favorite pizza I did the Great White again followed by a delicious custard and headed back home. The Great White is a great little coaster and a great way to end the day.
  20. The Great White @ Morey's Piers / Wildwood yesterday afternoon. First time since last summer in back seat both times and it ran great, much better than I remembered.
  21. Lines are most definitely going to be insane for a little while once Zumanjaro opens and Ka opens back up full time. At least thats what I'm hoping as I could care less about either and hope it takes some of the heat off Nitro and Toro lol.
  22. The Walkmen - Woe Is Me
  23. On a September Saturday last year and on opening day this year waited for El Toro with full queue and two trains and it was 30-40 minutes both times. Every other time I've been recently I'd say its 20 minutes or less. Most times I go right for it in the morning to get it in a few times before lines. A few Sundays ago I waited an hour for Lantern with a completely full queue and two trains (don't ask me why I did this). That same day waited for Nitro with an almost full queue and it was 30 minutes. Think it was only two trains tho. Nitro is a people eater. If they are running all three trains the line moves very quickly.
