Yeah that was the one I was thinking of, I don't believe anything was ever confirmed but another concept art in that article clearly shows a B&M Dive machine, so maybe that was what threw people onto this also potentially being B&M. *Also, if you just removed the mountains and the gondolas from that art and moved it to Sea World it would totally look like it belongs there.

Wasn't a "surf coaster" from B&M reported as being part of the expansion for Ocean park Hong Kong a a little while back? Seems like I remember seeing some concept art somewhere that looked like traditional B&M sit down trains just with 2 people across instead of 4, and a bunch of wave like turns. It's just concept art so take it with a grain of salt, but exciting project nonetheless. SeaWorld may get 2 new for 2021 coasters!

The Occulus building is really cool, don't know if anyone else has ever noticed it but between Tampa and Orlando off of the south side of I-4 there is a huge building at Florida Polytechnic University from the same architect. Very impressive, I saw it several years ago on that drive and had to look the building up, then the Oculus opened a few years later and I knew it had to be the same architect and sure enough it was. Check it out next time you're driving from I-4 from Orlando to Tampa.

I've thought a little bit about this and what other types of changes might be made. I really don't know how feasible it is because I don't work in the industry but I'd love to see seasonal parks offer some kind of separately ticketed event like Disney does with their Halloween and Christmas party. If I could pay double the ticket price for a limited capacity night at Cedar Point where even only the major coasters are open from 8pm to 1 am or something I'd do it in a heartbeat. Or an adder for a couple hours of early admission with limited capacity. Maybe a ticket for a shorter window of admission with limited capacity on certain days, like 9am-1pm 1pm-5pm and 5pm-9pm? I really don't have any idea of how or when if ever park get back to what we considered normal before but I think there will be something different about operations when they re-open initially at least.

I didn't go to the beach this weekend but my parents and some friends did and honestly it looked fine from the pictures I saw, some people out but plenty of space for the amount of people that were there. That tower cam pic is from the most crowded and accessible beach in the area and was taken around 5:30 or so the first day beaches reopened at 5 pm but most other places throughout the weekend were fine. There's a lot of coastline out there and plenty of places that don't get crowded during normal times without a pandemic, so imo with the restrictions in place this really isn't that big of a deal.

Yeah they are but it's really limited in what's being allowed. All counties are a bit different but here they're only open from 6am to noon for "physical activities" walking running biking surfing etc. Some counties are also open in the evenings but only from 5pm to 8pm and under the same restriction. Seems reasonable if people follow the rules, but we'll see how that goes. I know in our county police will be patrolling like crazy so hopefully that helps a bit.

Chuck's TPR Shameless Nostalgia Trip Thread
Hilltopper39 replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow, I've never officially traveled with TPR outside of a few bash days several years ago but I think I've been following along with their trips from just around the very beginning so this was a trip down memory lane for sure. Also what level of Inception is this where I'm reading of a trip report of a trip report that I read 14 years ago? I'm gonna wake up and the world is going to be under quarantine or something...... -
The trip was over a year ago and the missus booked the hotel so I don't remember specifics. I don't think it was a specific package, it was just included. I do know we had to stop at the hotel concierge in the morning to grab a voucher for our quick queues which we used to redeem the actual card at the park, luckily able to use the kiosks at the entrance to do this so we didn't have to wait in a line at guest services. It was only skip once per ride per day but since she didn't use hers much of the weekend (foreshadowing) I was able to double-up. We also had to "book" the shuttles over to the park just by calling down to the desk, but we couldn't figure out why since the shuttles were almost always mostly empty and they were always able to accommodate us on the next available shuttle. To book to the complimentary animal encounters we had to book those the night before, either by stopping at the concierge or calling down from our room. Hope that helps. I still really enjoyed the Wyndham we stayed at in 2017 but now reminiscing about this trip is making me realize how much I enjoyed this hotel as well. Thanks man, I'm going to have to look into that for our next trip. Sometimes we just go down and back same day with the kids but if I can get those perks with a reasonable room rate well have to make a weekend of it.

Thanks for making me miss SeaWorld during this time, really needed that right now. I'm gonna wear out my AP the rest of this year whenever the parks re-open. And yes that Shark bar is amazing, I stop there for a drink every trip, even been known to abandon the family in Sesame Street area for about half an hour and bolt it over there for a lap on Mako and a quick drink. Quick question about that Residence by Marriott you stayed at, you mentioned free quick que since it's a SeaWorld partner hotel, was that a special package you had to book or does every room rate include that? Also how did you redeem the quick que, have to take a voucher to the park or did you room key cover it or something? I never knew SeaWorld offered that through their partner hotels but we stay in the area all the time so might have to check it out next time, again whenever that may be.

TPR 2019 Coaster Poll Results!
Hilltopper39 replied to A.J.'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm getting that same error as well. Can't see my full rankings but my top 5 were 1. Maverick 2. Steel Vengeance 3. Phoenix 4. Lightning Rod 5. Kumba Maverick is still my #1 but 2 through like 8 are all pretty interchangeable to me. -
TPR 2019 Coaster Poll Results!
Hilltopper39 replied to A.J.'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Seeing everyone rank Untamed so high really has me excited for Iron Gwazi whenever everything finally opens again, seems like it will have similar size and intensity to SV but a really punchy layout. I kind of agree about the length of Steel Vengeance to an extent, I mean yeah I still love the ride and ranked it second i believe, but if it didn't have the third lap around the structure and just did another wicked maneuver in lieu of the midcourse before hitting the brakes I'd probably still rank it just as high. My only disappointment with the poll results was that my decent ranking of Predator wasn't enough to bring it out of the bottom 10 hahaha. I thought surely throwing it up in my top 50ish would bring it out bottom but nope. -
Yeah they've already posted their policy which is why i see no reason to cancel at this point. Ride it out, worst case scenario reschedule a cruise for later in 2020 or 2021. Just was curious if anyone else here had evaluated the policy in depth and saw anything of concern that I didn't. Cruise With Confidence Policy
-
Does anyone have an active cruise booked that they've rescheduled or cancelled yet? We have one scheduled for June with Royal Caribbean and final payment is due soon, but seems like there's no reason to cancel now since they're offering full refunds or a 125% credit for rescheduling a future cruise anytime in 2020 or 2021 with 48 hours cancellation notice. I can't find any reason to cancel it now with this policy but curious if any of the more cruise savvy people on this forum are in a similar situation or have evaluated the policy in more detail than I have.

Right now it says you must visit before May 17th. That's a pretty tight window. Yeah it is, but again I feel like if they close the parks for 2 weeks they'd probably find a way to extend that deadline out, then again maybe not who knows at this point. I've been telling my friends here locally to grab some tickets since the window as is if you're close enough for a weekend or day trip is pretty doable, but yeah if you're coming from far away and don't have a trip already scheduled buyer beware I guess.

FYI if anyone is planning a trip to central Florida in the next few months, despite all the Coronavirus scare, BGT and SW both launched a pretty good flash sale on single day single park and two park tickets yesterday, and the sale runs through this Monday. Kind of odd timing to launch a ticket sale when everyone else in town is preparing to shut down but hey, get em while you can! And if they do end up closing then I'm sure they'd find a way to honor tickets past the expiration date.

The animation style is based off of the retrro-modern 2013 Mickey Mouse shorts, which have won and / or been nominated for a plethora of awards such as Annies and Emmys. They're very good, as a fan of old-school Disney / Looney Tunes slapstick, I enjoy them. They probably used this style of animation for the ride because it's based in Hollywood Studios (and eventually Toontown). If this were a Fantasyland dark ride in either park I could see how they would want to go with the "vanilla / inoffensive" Mickey Mouse design. That makes sense, I kind of forgot about those new Mickey Shorts but I do enjoy them as well.

I spoiled the ride for myself cause I have no idea when I'll get down there to ride it but I was amazed with how hard it is to tell what is a physical set and a projection and a screen and an animatronic, in the video atleast. Looks like an amazing attraction, which I figured it would be considering the announced one for Disneyland before Studios was even open, they knew it would be a hit. One question that may have been addressed during the media event, but does anyone know why they chose to go with this style of animation for the attraction? I like it a lot but it's pretty different than the "traditional" look for Mickey, just curious why that was the direction they chose to go. Knowing how Imagineering works I'm sure there was a very specific reason, just curious what it is.

New RMC coming to South Dakota proposed
Hilltopper39 replied to jlp94's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Man I've been wanting water parks to install amusement park rides forever, roller coasters, log flumes, rapids, drop tower, whatever, so this is awesome. I love a good water park but even the best ones in the world you can get a little bored with so a different experience thrown into the traditional mix is a very welcome addition, hope everything goes well and this ends up happening.
