  1. Yeah, that is true, might as well just assume they'll be replacing the Log Jammer with a 100mph launched Aquatrax
  2. I'm not a huge fan of spinning coasters but a terrain spinner in that area might be kind of cool concept and be a type of coaster the magic Mountain doesn't have. It would also be another great family style ride that would be unique to their existing lineup.
  3. ^ I agree completely, but I do understand why parks have them for a Halloween event. I don't think Universal uses metal detectors during normal daily operation but they set up temporary ones for HHN. I guess a Halloween event attracts a certain type of crowd that is more prone to having incidents occur, the alcohol sold at the event probably contributes a bit too. I know at HHN and HOS not only do they have metal detectors but they have a lot of increased security throughout the park (tons of local police and extra park security), and I've seen plenty of people escorted out of the event for skipping line, smoking in line, drinking underage, fighting, harassing actors in the houses, and other things that seem idiotic but not surprising in a crowd of drunk 19-30 year old people.
  4. Also, I with Arrow kind of being out of business and BBW being one of only about 5 Arrow suspended coasters left in the World i would think that spare parts for routine and annual maintenance are hard to find and fairly expensive. I know S&S still provides spare parts for most old Arrow models but that doesn't mean that are still selling those parts at old Arrow prices.
  5. Blue Fire at Europa got great reviews (I know the stats and style for each ride are completely different), and reviews of Jet Rescue at Sea World Australia from the TPR trip were overwhelmingly positive. Manta West looks like somewhat of a combination of those two rides (mack launched with great trains, and a low quick jet rescue esqu layout) with some seriously impressive themeing, I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be a surprise hit of the 2012 coaster season.
  6. That transition reminds me of the nasty transition in the middle of Outer Limits at Kings Island/Kings Dominion which is awesome. Outer Limits isn't traveling that fast at that point of the circuit and it is still awesome, so I have a lot of hope for Verbolten.
  7. That port in Falmouth looks really nice, much nicer than the one in Ocho Rios. I rode that mountain coaster during my Honeymoon in March and it was crazy! Very unexpected. DO you guys do the ropes course at Mystic Mountain too or just the chairlift and the mountain coaster?
  8. I hope that this park gets developed in some shape or form because I still think that if done right it could possibly succeed.
  9. Happy Halloween!!! Beware of Hitchhiking Ghosts!
  10. Seems like a very reasonable price for a decent little water park. Nice pictures, I've driven by that place hundreds of times and always wondered what it was like inside. I'm may consider it for my next Orlando weekend trip. How late were the slides open?
  11. Can anyone who attended both HHN events (East and West Coast) comment on the differences in the Bill and Ted Show at each event? Same, different, better, worse? Universal should offer some type of discount or incentive for the HHN fans who attend the event on each coast in the same year. Kinda like the Disneyworld/land Marathon Challenge.
  12. Yeah I agree, but it seemed like at HOS this year Vampire Casino and Nevermore were kind of the houses that everyone thought were the best. Timing does have a lot to do with it though, but at HOS this year I went through each house twice and for whatever reason it seemed like the experience was very consistent both times.
  13. ^^Nice report, it is interesting to read the report of an HHN first timer who is fairly impartial. I've mentioned this before but again I find it interesting that the reviews of HHN specifically the houses every year seem to be so varied. One review's favorite house might be another's least favorite. This year really liked the In between and Winter's Night, and thought the Forsaken and Nightingales kinda sucked, which was completely opposite of your views. I don't know if that means Universal does a great job of of appealing to everyone by creating 8 unique houses every year or if it means that the timing can make or break each house's experience.
  14. Does Swarm have the same Layout as X-Flight at SFGAM? Even though Wild Eagle is on top of a freakin mountain, I think the layout and interactive themeing elements of Swarm are much more impressive. That dive drop looks awesome.
  15. Skeeball of any form is my all time favorite amusement park game. At parks in Orlando I like to play "Spot the Brits".
  16. I have actually seen people do this at BGT on Gwazi. Some "locals" were standing by the exit ramp throwing ice at oncoming trains, it was pretty pathetic.
  17. PETA is a worthless organization.
  18. I thought the Thing maze was okay, the costumes were really cool but I don't know anything about the Thing movie franchise so the plot line of the house was kinda absent. It didn't have that many scares in but none of the houses this year really had that many scares. It wasn't my favorite but it wasn't my least favorite either. I was pretty disappointed with the event overall this year, next year if some of the early reviews don't reflect a drastic improvement in the overall event then I may skip HHN altogether and just do HOS (which was awesome this year).
  19. For me it completely depends on the ride, manufacturer, time of day, a lot of different variables. GCI's always seem better in the front, where as most woodies are generally better in the back. Arrow Suspendeds are great in the back. B&M inverts have great forces in the back but awful views, so I prefer the front. B&M Flyers, back row all day.
  20. American Coasters: El Toro Superman SFNE X2 New Texas Giant Prowler I305 Everything at Silverwood Powder Keg Worldwide: Expedition GeForce T-Express Balder Lisbergbannen Any Intamin Megalite Nemesis Katun Ispeed Furious Baco That crazy GCI in China
  21. just got the newest Mastodon album yesterday, pretty decent
  22. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the train at Dollywood one of the few (if not only) actualy coal fired steam engine trains left in operation at a park in America?
  23. I would think that a ride is no different than any other type of equipment, if you operate it outside the manufacturer's recommended procedures it probably voids any type of warranty and makes you solely responsible legally in the case of an accident. I know in the business I work in there are accidents from time to time because of a malfunction with our equipment, but the accidents are almost always a result of the operators doing something outside of the manufacturer's recommended operating procedures in which case we are not responsible. I would think rides are the same way.
  24. I have purchased Florida resident tickets online for Universal before for myself (a FL resident) and several friends (non FL residents) and have never been asked to show ID at the gate. However Disney and Busch Gardens might be completely different and I would bet that if they are giving away a free Safari then they will verify your residency somehow.
  25. Thanks to everyone who put this event on, I had a great time! Cheetah Hunt really started to grow on me after a few more rides. Really fun little coaster, it might not crack any top 10's but it is a great addition to the park. Kumba still kicks all kinds of @ss, still my favorite coaster in the park. Howloscreams was amazing this year, I had more fun at HOS than HHN this year without question! Can't say enough great things about the entire event. The Midnight Hour show was a huge surprise, not as good as some of the better years of Bill and Ted but I enjoyed it a lot more than the past couple of years. The cast was talented and did a great job. All of the houses were good, Vampire Casino was a surprise favorite. I went through it after the fright feast before the event was open to the GP and was seriously the only guest in the house and it terrifying, like a free version of Alone! The Poe house and Zombie Mortuary looked really good and were almost HHN quality. The roaming Zombie Hoards were a lot of fun, some of those groups really worked well together to scare people. All of the actors in the mazes were great too, they seemed to put a lot of effort into their character and scare tactics which is something I don't feel the cast at HHN does very well anymore. My only complaint was that attending the event every year for the past 4 years I'm kinda tired of Deconstruction, Death Row Vengeance and Nightshade even though it is in a new location but I'm sure those houses might be in their last years. Other than overall visual quality in some of the houses, everything at HOS was better than HHN this year in my opinion, better scares, better shows, better atmosphere, better price for admission and express passes, better cast, better coasters open at night. If you haven't been to HOS this year CHECK IT OUT!!!!
