Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

The slides are going in the spot where Hydroblaster is in this picture, and they obviously going to be a bit taller than Hydroblaster, but I think that this portion of Highway 101 that's close to the waterpark is really the only place outside of the park where you'll be able to see the slide tower. We certainly won't be able to see it from the parking lot or from 169. -

Michigan's Adventure (MiA) Discussion Thread
VF15 replied to MagnumForce's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I don't think Cedar Fair is worried about Michigan's Adventure competing with Cedar Point because Kings Island is actually slightly closer to CP than MiA, but CF has invested quite a bit of money in KI over the past several years. I understand that, being the smallest park in the chain, they can't get major additions every year, but if they go two years in a row without anything new, that might be a sign of something bad. -
A few minutes ago. When was the last time you rode an RMC?

I'd imagine the announcement will be sometime in the late November/December time frame like it has in the past. A little birdie told me there are not getting anything major what so ever. We would be lucky for a small flat ride. Six flags and super loops are looking good right about now So MiA really won't be getting anything in 2015? That must really stink for MiA locals. Under most circumstances, I'd say Cedar Fair is going smaller with this park to avoid Geauga Lake-ing it, but when you go two straight years with nothing new, I find that a bit concerning. -
No. Do you like B&M wing coasters?

Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

If the games are popular, then I guess I'm never in the right place at the right time to see them that way. I should have said this earlier, but I don't think games will completely disappear from Valleyfair and other amusement parks, they just aren't as popular as they were in the past. I forgot about the games stall taken out for the waterpark expansion getting relocated within the park. Do you (or anyone else) happen to know exactly where it's moving to? -

^ Yep, as long as they stay on pace with the construction, the new additions should be open with the rest of the waterpark on Memorial Day Weekend. -

Granted, but when you ride coasters in extremely cold temperatures, your face will get frostbitten. I wish more parks had Chance Hyper GT-X coasters. -

Even though that's just a rumor, if it has any validity to it, that could be good news . That would be the perfect location for part of a Gatekeeper/Fury 325-like layout (having a part of it go over the park entrance). If it was to be a new coaster coming in 2016, we'd probably have to see land clearing/new lot paving in that area by early to mid-summer because that's when that stuff normally happens. Like others have said, I rarely seen anyone playing the games at Valleyfair, even on busier days. I guess it's probably because people just don't come to amusement parks to play games anymore. Games might have been a bigger thing back in the day, but nowadays, they just aren't. Since they removed the games island near Planet Snoopy and Mad Mouse to make way for the Soak City expansion, it could be a sign that they might remove the other ones later. Removing the game stalls in that area from Depot Refreshments to RipTide could leave some room for a few new rides (probably not enough space for a coaster, but I could be wrong). Relocating SuperCat would not be a problem. They could probably move it over to Route 76, or maybe put it in the old Tilter spot near Wild Thing's queue. As for RipTide, I think it will either stay put, or just get removed altogther. I've never seen longer than a two-cycle wait for RipTide (even on hot days), and unlike it's neighbor thrill rides Power Tower and Xtreme Swing, it is not on the Fast Lane pass, but it will only be 10 years old in 2015, so I don't see it going just yet. -
Nickelodeon Universe (MOA) Discussion Thread
VF15 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'd love to see any of those types of coasters at Nickelodeon Universe, but considering how the park is so stripped for space, I can't see how you can put one in without taking something else out. Maybe if they were able to take over some of the space that some other stores occupy, it could work, but I don't think that's likely. -

I heard that the newer SLC trains really aren't much better than the old ones, so either way, I don't think it would be a great move. Flight Deck wouldn't help VF's lineup at all because their lineup is very average for that of a corporate park, and getting a low quality coaster like an SLC might actually hurt their overall coaster quality. Also, Flight Deck will be 20 years old in 2015, and Cedar Fair isn't the type of park chain that relocates 20+ year-old rides (Demon Drop is the only one I can think of; please correct me if there are more), so I think Flight Deck will probably stay put at CW. -
