Top Roller Coaster Myths & Rumors!
VF15 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A common rumor in Minnesota is that High Roller at Valleyfair is actually the relocated Cyclone from the now defunct Excelsior Amusement Park, but this is not true. High Roller was a brand new ride when it was built, and Cyclone was demolished when Excelsior closed. -

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
VF15 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Was just watching some old episodes of Insane Coaster Wars, and during the segment about X-Flight at Six Flags Great America, the narrator called it an "airtime machine" . I really like X-Flight, but there's no airtime to be found anywhere on that ride. -
Both have Zierer Tivoli coasters. Wild Adventures and Carowinds.

Granted, but it's because Cartoon Network goes off-air permanently. I wish for a trimless ride on Raging Bull. -

Exodus: Gods and Kings was just "meh". Not really a bad movie, but there just wasn't anything about it that stood out. It was also a bit too long for my tastes.

Granted, but just for a day, then they switch back to their old avatars. I wish TPR was more active on weekends. -

^ I've seen Valleyfair's parking lot get almost completely full on a few Saturdays in July. They could probably use the amphitheater, the grassy areas near Route 76, and probably relocate a few rides to make room for expansion within the park and not use the parking lot. I think that they will use some of the lot as expansion room soon since valleyfairfanatic said there was a rumor going around about that. However, Dinosaurs Alive is between the parking lot and the park midways, so I'm not sure how they would create a way to get to whatever would be new there, but I'm sure they could figure it out. Also, does anyone know when they will release the 2015 operating calendar? -
When I'm in a queue line at a park, I normally use my phone a lot. I'll check the TPR forums every now and then along with Facebook and Twitter, and sometimes I'll play the TPR trivia game. Besides those things, if possible, I enjoy just looking at the ride and watching it move. If I'm doing a trip report, I use queueing time to take plenty of pictures. If there is a TV in the queue line, I'll watch that too as long as it's not playing crappy content. I'll also talk with whoever is with me. If I'm not with anyone, I try to listen for funny GP comments because they happen all the time.

Theme parks and coasters in the snow

Found this picture of Michigan's Adventure in the snow from the top of Shivering Timbers on the park's Facebook page. Looks nice. -

Saw this on Dave Frazier's Twitter. He was apparently just at Cedar Point. I wonder if that means anything. -

Granted, but you don't get any more presents. I wish that theme park guests would stop acting so entitled. -

Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread
VF15 replied to the_rock401's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think it would be interesting, and I'm sure it would look amazing (I'm imagining Corkscrew's corkscrews being decked out in lights). I would definitely go check it out, but I'm not sure if it would be popular enough to warrant the cost of all the lights/employees/electricity. However, if Bentleyville (That light walkthrough in Duluth) can do it, VF *MIGHT* be able to pull it off, but I doubt that it will happen. It just doesn't seem like something VF would do. A Christmas event at Valleyfair would be interesting. Seeing the place decked out and lit up for Christmas would be nice, and it would be a way for the park to make some more money during the offseason. I'd be interested in seeing what they'd offer for a Christmas event. However, this time of year, the weather might be a pull factor because it gets very cold at night (even if you're bundled up, it would still get miserable after a while). Also, they wouldn't be able to run the rides because they can't operate at temps under 40 degrees (correct me if I'm wrong), and even if they could, it would probably be very uncomfortable to ride. Despite that, I'd still probably go for the sake of visiting VF in December. -

So, is Fury 325 supposed to be ready by Opening Day? If so, then they've got quite a bit of work to do in the next 3.5 months. I know they don't really have to battle severe winter weather down there, but still... -
Michigan's Adventure (MiA) Discussion Thread
VF15 replied to MagnumForce's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't think think Michigan's Adventure is a dying park. It's a smaller park that's doing quite well for the market it serves. I think a lot of the disappointment stems from having the Cedar Fair label on it, and being a CF park makes people instantly expect more. As much as a big new coaster like a B&M would be appreciated, I just don't think they're ready for one. Maybe they will be ready in another decade or so, but as for right now, I'm afraid it might not work out. That being said, I still think MiA should still add something small for 2015 because when the general public starts noticing that there haven't been any new attractions added for a while, people will lose interest and attendance could drop.
