  1. I don't have a particular favorite coaster for airtime, but a few of my favorite airtime moments (in no particular order) are: -Millennium Force's first drop. -Maverick's first drop and ejector airhills. -Goliath's (SFGAm) first drop. -All of Diamondback's airtime hills. -Magnum's return run. -Raging Bull's first drop.
  2. Not so sure building a new amphitheater there is the best idea. Performers in the old amphitheater didn't like being right next to Wild Thing's loud brake run, so won't the new one have the same problem?
  3. I guess I was right in my prediction from last October, Millennium Force has my favorite drop on a steel coaster. The airtime on that drop is just pure bliss.
  4. Granted, they no longer have non-conference games at all. I wish for sleep.
  5. I probably will renew my season pass for next year. Even though I start to get a little bored with VF towards the end of the season, I'm always itching to get back to the park come springtime.
  6. Nickelodeon Universe is open every day year-round except for a few holidays. My personal favorite rides are Avatar Airbender, Spongebob Rock Bottom Plunge, Fairly Odd Coaster, Brain Surge, and TMNT Shell Shock. Log Chute is also pretty good.
  7. ^ I'm hearing that Excalibur will definitely be back in 2016, but if the permit for the parking lot gets approved, then next year will probably be its final season. Can't really comment on Arnolds Park since I haven't been there yet (hopefully next year), although their wooden coaster (Legend) looks like fun.
  8. See...I agree with you, but I think it's poor business logic for the park to take the stand of "come back to reality" and to accept "maybe next year" after a rather long drought of dry, high-thrill rides. Really, I'm not trying to come across as an expert here, but I do know that a significant amount of VF attendance each year comes from group sales. The MSP metro has a significant amount of large corporate offices. Having new, exciting additions to talk-up really helps with that process. I know VF is near the bottom of the CF milkshake, but maybe sometimes you gotta spend big(ger) to earn big. I'm not sure of the park's numbers back in the mid-90's, but perhaps the Wild Thing investment was seen as a risk at the time...and that investment arguably put VF on the proverbial map. Just some food for thought.
  9. Even though I'm okay with this announcement, I think a new coaster is becoming more of a need than an want because the social media reaction so far has been mostly negative.
  10. Personally, I'm satisfied with this announcement. No, it's not a huge addition, but it does bring back an old ride from the park's early years that's starting to become rather popular again, and I've never ridden Flying Scooters before, so I'm looking forward to trying them out for myself.
  11. You think they are going to move Shockwave to VF? If Cedar Fair is relocating Shockwave, they're sending it to Dorney.
  12. ...your computer's desktop background is coaster/park related. Here's mine:
  13. This thread will probably blow up regardless of how big or small the 2016 announcement is.
  14. 9/11 probably has nothing to do with it. They announced the waterpark expansion last year on 9/11.
  15. Announcement has been delayed. All I can say is: that was pretty anticlimactic.
  16. Sounds like we could be getting a Frisbee there after all.
  17. Excalibur always closes for the rest of the season around this time each year, this is nothing new. Plus, from what I've heard, Excalibur will most likely be back next year.
  18. ^ They didn't give a specific time, although last year the announcement was made in the morning (around 8 am). Interesting how this is the second year in a row the announcement taking is place on September 11th.
  19. Nice that they're announcing it a day early. My final prediction is Larson Flying Scooters and a Mondial Frisbee as rumored.
  20. This tbh. It's not fair, but it's probably the truth. And it lines up with Dinos leaving around then. I agree, even though VF is definitely due for new coaster, I don't see us getting one until at least 2019 or 2020. All of the other Cedar Fair parks that have received coasters recently have a modern feeling to them, while Valleyfair feels a little behind/outdated in several areas. They probably want to get the rest of the park up to par with other CF parks before making a huge coaster investment. Until then, we'll just have to be content with what the park already has.
  21. I personally prefer the old ones. I don't hate the new restraints, but they don't allow for as much freedom as the old ones. Even when I'm stapled in, the old restraints are still more comfortable to me.
  22. Funny... I had that same cool idea for Hurler.
