Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

^ 1) A Fast Lane on a weekday would not be necessary unless you're seriously pressed for time (2-3 hours). If you were to get it, you can bypass the regular line on 13 rides an unlimited amount of times. 2) Soak City does not have Fast Lane or a line-skipping system. 3) The waterpark is usually never very busy unless it is a swelteringly hot day. Although, the new slide package looks like it will be a crowd-grabber, so go ride those first thing in the morning when Soak City opens. 4) The must-ride coasters are Renegade (GCI woodie), Wild Thing (Morgan hyper), and Steel Venom (Intamin Impulse). Xtreme Swing and Power Tower (Space Shot) are the must-ride flat rides. Enterprise is a personal favorite flat of mine. Northern Lights is a pretty fun family ride. Corkscrew is a smooth ride for a 34-year-old Arrow. High Roller is an old school wooden coaster that's a fun ride but trimmed to death . I'd ride Mad Mouse and Excalibur just once to get the credit. Renegade is VF's best coaster, ride it in the last row to get a really awesome ride. Wild Thing also has some good air if you sit in the front car. 5) Arnold's Park looks like a nice little park, but it's in the middle of nowhere in Northern Iowa, and it's a 3-hour drive from the Twin Cities. Their old-school woodie was just retracked by GCI, but all things considered, I'm not sure that it would be worth going out of your way that much. As for other stuff to do in state, I haven't lived here for very long, but Minnesota has a lot of lovely nature and great state parks. Rochester, St. Cloud, and Mankato have some interesting things to do, but the best stuff will be in MSP. Sorry for the long post, but I hope that helped. Have a nice trip next year. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I love how everyone is making a big deal out of this one trim brake. There's no trim brake in the animated POV or flyover, so that makes me lean towards saying there will be no trim. Even if there is one, it can't take away from the ride that much, can it? I mean, it's only one trim. No trim. No trim here either. -
Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

I have to agree. Running one train and having slow operations when there is a full queue line on a busy Haunt night is completely unacceptable. If the other two trains were having mechanical issues, then I could understand it, but they were running two trains earlier in the day, so that was definitely not the case. I encountered something similar at Valleyfair back in July. Renegade had a nearly full queue line, but they were running one train. That just isn't acceptable at all. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
VF15 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So are there any rumors about what Kings Island could be getting for 2015? I know that they just got Banshee, but a park of this size should at least get something for next year, even if it's small. -

^ Good to know that the old dining patio is officially leaving. With the new Picnic Point by Route 76, the old one serves no purpose anymore. $6+ million isn't a bad investment at all. In comparison, Renegade cost $6.5 million, so this isn't the cheapest of investments made in this park. Based on what Mr. Frazier said, it also sounds like another SC expansion will be coming along in a few years, which is definitely needed because while I'm happy with this expansion, the waterpark still needs more. -

^ That's confusing. They were running two trains this afternoon when I was there. Considering that Haunt is a lot more crowded than Planet Spooky, you think it would be the other way around. Valleyfair can be a strange animal sometimes... -

I went to ride Wild Thing at about 11:30 today, and an employee told me "There's nothing wrong with the ride, but we need to clear the area." I really don't know what that meant. Whatever it was, it couldn't have been too serious because it reopened an hour later. Although, it might have been for the best because about half of the mid-course trims were turned off, so I got some better-than-normal airtime on the last 4 hills . On another note, I think that Corkscrew might discontinue on-ride photos altogether soon because the photo booth is almost always closed (including today). However, I still don't think Corkscrew will be going anywhere anytime soon. Corkscrew is probably here to stay for at least another decade. -

I'm at VF right now, and everything is running great today (except High Roller ). A few of Wild Thing's trims are turned off, making for a better than average second half. Renegade is running great as always. I thought I'd see some waterpark demolition/construction, but there is still none. I just heard a really dumb GP comment: "They're taking out Renegade." (big facepalm) If Valleyfair removed Renegade, I'd probably discontinue my season pass. -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
VF15 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is off-topic, and it has probably been brought up before, but I think that Kings Dominion should get a GCI woodie one of these days. I haven't been to Kings Dominion, and I probably won't make it there for a while, but looking at their lineup, it seems that one thing that they're lacking is a top-notch woodie. Rebel Yell looks like a pretty good woodie, but I don't think it looks top-notch (correct me if I'm wrong). The GCIs at VF, WOF, and CGA have all been successful, so KD receiving something similar would be great. I think that an RMC would also be a good fit for KD, but until Cedar Fair starts doing business with RMC, I don't see it happening. -

Whats your favorite Vekoma?
VF15 replied to Neogreeneyez's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So far, my favorite Vekoma is Space Mountain at Disneyland. I'm actually pretty surprised that it's Vekoma that manufactured the track. While the ride itself isn't that forceful/intense, it's still a fun ride, and the fact that it takes place in the dark adds to the fun. (Yay, my 1000th post!) -

New B&M trains on Steel Dragon
VF15 replied to Trevor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Never been on SD2000, but those B&M trains really look like they make the ride quite comfortable. The normal Morgan trains aren't uncomfortable, but they're very big, and they don't give you a lot of freedom. I wish Cedar Fair would get these trains for Wild Thing, Steel Force, and Mamba. -

Granted, but it's only 10 seconds long from drop to brake run. I wish that Six Flags employees would take some pride in their job. -
RCCA making clones of Son of Beast that are as popular as Boomerangs and SLCs. What's worse than being forced to marathon Mean Streak for 24 hours.
