  1. I've never thought that VF's parking lot is as bad/rough as most make it out to be, but that might just be me. If VF does do something with the parking lot in the next few years, they should build a new lot in the orange-sketched area I drew below and use the blue-sketched area for future park expansions because the park needs more expansion room, but I don't think they want to use the areas north and west of the park since they go deeper into the flood plain.
  2. The park closed and was demolished after only one season due to low attendance. Later on, VF15 bought the land that Six Flags Disappointment sat on and built a copy of Valleyfair there, but...
  3. Granted, people are allowed to actually drive through the park. I wish Wild Thing at Valleyfair had more airtime.
  4. At Valleyfair, most of the ride ops just say everything by the book, but the Corkscrew crew can be funny sometimes. Earlier this year, the main ride op said: "Once you are seated, please pull down your safety restraint, buckle your seat belt, and then help us out by pulling up on your seatbelt. That's right. For once, you can actually help us do our job." Also, at Six Flags Great America last summer, the V2 crew was being pretty creative with what they said right before they launched you.
  5. I found this on another coaster enthusiast website. Yep, this pretty much sounds like how a GP might describe a stuck Windseeker.
  6. ^ If you follow Dave Frazier (Valleyfair's General Manager) on Twitter, he has a lot of pictures of the demolition from early last week that he tweeted. Unfortunately no other ground pictures that I'm aware of. I might go to VF next weekend, and if I do, I'll be sure to take some pictures of the demolition/construction and post them here.
  7. I was just looking up the long-term forecast for closing weekend, and if this forecast stays true, then the weekend of Oct. 24-26 might be our last weekend for coasters at Valleyfair this year . They are predicting some possible snow and temperatures below 40 degrees on November 1st and 2nd, and I think park shuts down the coasters when temps get below 40 degrees (correct me if I'm wrong). Of course, this is still a while out, and it could change, but I don't want to get my hopes up. It's a bummer because I want to be able to say that I've ridden coasters at Valleyfair in November, but then again, this is MinneSnowta, so the forecast doesn't surprise me.
  8. Granted, but Valleyfair goes out of business due to lack of attendance because the GP doesn't like riding coasters in the cold and snow. I wish my city had an amusement park (not a kiddie park).
  9. Granted, but this means that you fail school and can't get a good job. I wish that the offseason wasn't almost here.
  10. Like others have said, pretty much all woodies can run differently depending on the weather conditions (wet, dry, hot, cold, etc.). This can also be true for steel coasters to some extent. If a coaster has trim brakes, depending on how hard they are at a time, they can change how fast and intense the coaster runs.
  11. I just saw the full Twisted Colossus POV on YouTube, and all I have to say is "wow". This POV looks amazing. I still think Wicked Cyclone looks better, but nonetheless, TC will still be an incredible RMC. Why do I have to live 2,000 miles away from it?
  12. They both have wooden coasters. Six Flags Great America and Dorney Park?
  13. I will likely be going to the park on Saturday, November 1st for my last Valleyfair trip of 2014. Just wondering, does the park stay open between Planet Spooky closing (6pm) and Haunt opening (7pm), or will I have to leave the park for an hour?
  14. Only ridden Wild Thing, so that would have to be my favorite Morgan hyper. I don't think it's as boring as most other enthusiasts say it is, but it still isn't the "OMG INSANE" ride the GP makes it out to be. It has some pretty good postive G's in several spots, and great airtime on the second hill . I just wish they would run it with light/no trims, but in true Valleyfair fashion, it is trimmed to the point where airtime on the second half of the ride is minimal. If I had to choose the best looking Morgan based on POVs, I'd say Phantom's Revenge, or if you're strictly talking 100% Morgans, probably Steel Eel, even though it technically isn't a hyper.
  15. According to a tweet from Dave Frazier, Soak City will not be getting a new entrance, and Subway will apparently be returning next year. I'm okay with them keeping the same SC entrance because it doesn't really matter where it is, but Subway coming back surprises me. I don't know where they would rebuild Subway. Besides, I never see that many people eating at Subway because of how overpriced that food is. Plus, there are three other Subways in Shakopee where you can get the same food at more reasonable prices. He also said that the Games island may or may not come back. I don't see it coming back because there really aren't any places where you could put it.
  16. A few weeks ago, I posted on here asking for advice on a mid-July Cedar Point trip for next year. My plans have changed slightly and I will likely be going in early or mid-June for 2 or 3 weekdays. How should I expect crowds and lines to be then? Not as bad as mid-July, I suppose?
  17. At SeaWorld Orlando, I rode Kraken in the front alone once. It was a pretty cool experience. I had several rides on Journey to Atlantis all to myself. At Valleyfair, I've ridden High Roller, Corkscrew, and Excalibur all by myself. I may have had Renegade to myself once, but I'm not completely sure.
  18. I think this is a great addition for Great America because they're the last major Cedar Fair park to get Planet Snoopy (MiA doesn't have one, but I don't think they have a legitimate kiddie area to begin with). The other Planet Snoopys are really nice areas that small children have lots of fun in, so I'd expect the same to happen here.
  19. Absolutely: Valleyfair Nickelodeon Universe Cedar Point Probably: Arnolds Park Maybe: Carowinds Worlds of Fun Six Flags Great America
  20. For some reason, your typical fair rides (Tilt-a-Whirl, Scrambler, Starship 2000, Zipper, etc.) will make nauseous after a while, but for some reason, I can ride most roller coasters and large flat rides at an amusement park continuously and not feel nauseous at all. I guess it's just rides that spin me around a lot that get to me after a while.
  21. The webcam has been adjusted a little higher so we can see more of the construction area and more of the park in general. Looks like they still have a bit of cleaning up to do before tomorrow night.
  22. Baron 1898? That has to be one of the oddest coaster names I've ever heard, but the concept art looks really nice, and I think it will be a very fun ride.
  23. Nice trip report. I always like reading TRs about my home park. Looks like you had a lot of fun.
  24. I hope that they could keep the current entrance if we do get a coaster that flies over it since I appreciate any charm that the park can retain, but considering that they have revamped CP's and Carowinds' entrances for Gatekeeper and Fury 325 respectively, the same would probably happen here. I don't think that the GP would think of Steel Venom and a B&M invert as the same thing because they would have enough differences that they'd look like unique rides.
  25. I like the idea, especially the color scheme but I would name it The Blizzard or Polar Vortex because Minnesota has no mountains. Of course if VF gets a coaster like that I really don't care what they call it. And if VF got a B&M invert along these lines, I'd love to see it go through a zero-g roll above the park entrance. Cedar Fair is starting to have a thing for coasters interacting with the front entrance (first Gatekeeper and now Fury 325). Any new coaster, B&M invert or not, would look great traveling over the park's entrance.
