The "Say Something Random" Thread

I saw what looked like a crack in my windshield and my sphincter tightened a little bit as I can't really afford to get it taken care of right now. When I inspected it further, it was a mosquito splattered on my windshield. -
It was also a little slow paced to start off. And as it is only the 1st half of the story, I don't necessarily agree with where it ended. Never read the books, but can those who have say if this was the best place to end part 1? Oh and, everyone should see it so part 2 can get made.

A couple recent reviews No Time to Die: Full Disclosure: I've only ever really sat down to watch the Daniel Craig Bond films thus far. The film is long and it feels long. Rami Malek's main antagonist character felt weak compared to what he accomplishes in the film--and was even outwitted by a child. But at least it does feel final in terms of Craig's Bond tenure. The Last Duel: An extremely well-made film, though not necessarily one I can say that I enjoyed. Nor was it really made to be enjoyed. But at the same time, I think more people should see it. Because in actuality, the film is all about the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but lies. Halloween Kills: At least it lives up to the title. I loved how smart the original and 2018 films were. All of that is undone by a lack of communication between characters and the instability of mob mentality. Which reminds me of a line from Men In Black, "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals, and you know it." And then the ending veers dangerously into Curse of Michael Myers territory that strains credibility. I was predicting that the Cult of Thorn would reenter the franchise, but as a group that idolized Michael and other such psychotics [predicted that the podcasters and Dr. Sartain from the 2018 film were members (Say Something)]. The crowd I saw the film was fun as well.

A decent enough song on its own, but I love the inclusion of the "Blasphemy, before what god" speech from Bride of Re-Animator as the intro.

At work, my coworker used the toilet. And the toilet would not stop flushing. As in, it was in a constant state of flush. How badly do you have to shit where even the toilet needs to wash its mouth out? -

I was making note to myself that I hadn't heard a particular song in a while. As I was driving into work today, I had the radio on and that song came on. Weird how that works out sometimes.

Alzheimer's can go fuck itself over, sideways, and under. My father, who's barely 60, was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. It's gotten to the point where he can no longer drive. We took away his keys about a month ago to give you an idea of how far along he is. So last night, my parents went out to a movie with a couple of their friends. About 2/3 of the way, dad went out to use the toilet and didn't come back. Mom sent one of their friends out to look for Dad--make sure he didn't get lost on the way back from the bathroom. They were still looking by the time their movie ended. Theater staff got involved with the search. Turns out, Dad went into a different screen, which was showing a different movie, sat down, and watched that until the end.

A couple reviews of recent horror movies: Till Death: picked it up from RedBox and it was a very fun cat and mouse thriller starring Megan Fox given something to do other than failing the sexy lamp test in Michael Bay films. The Night House: I loved the tone and atmosphere of this film. I appreciated the ambiguity of the ending and how psychologically horrifying it is. Of note: I watched Till Death the night before The Night House and both films have an inciting incident surrounding the main protagonist's husband committing suicide by gunshot to the head. Candyman (2021): Spoilers ahead. I love the original Candyman with Tony Todd and wanted to like this one more. I loved the craft of the film--especially Nia DaCosta's direction and the cinematography of John Guleserian. The plot felt directionless. The handling of some of the socio-political themes was too heavy-handed for my tastes. I was not a fan of the idea that Candyman could be any black man killed by racism--especially since the film's main character Anthony was a character in the original film (as a baby) with ties to Tony Todd's Daniel Robitaille/Candyman and how much that was referenced in this film. So when we finally got the Tony Todd cameo at the end I was just done with the film. Malignant: Hoo boy. I seriously enjoyed this film but I understand why it's a very divisive film. My biggest criticism is that it felt like it ended a beat too early because it ended on the wrong tone. It ends like a happy ending, but it should be more somber. I wish the entity's abilities were explained a little better. But now I want to know how the entity was brought to life both the physical portrayal and the makeup effects.

Hey, a couple questions now that I'm 2 weeks from my visit on Saturday 9/25 during Fright Fest. Previously visited back in 2009. -I pre bought Platinum Flash Pass. The email I received about this talks about using it on my phone. Will I be able to get a physical band? -Any rides with mandatory fluffy, fluffy bunnies filled with medicine and goo? Might have a bag/personal water bottle with me depending on this. -Does the park have bottle fillers? Are they active? -Recommendations for late-night eats within five miles of the park? Bonus points if Chicago-style deep dish. -X-Flight is the only ride I really need seat recommendations on -While it's currently not forecasted to rain, I'll ask anyway: does the park have an asinine rain policy? -Does Whizzer have a "no single riders" policy? -Any night rides I should prioritize? -Anything else I should know?

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

The Timber Twister alpine coaster at Spirit Mountain in Duluth, MN on Friday. I wish I got a sunset ride as there's a point where it looks out over Lake Superior. -

Twisted Timbers at Kings Dominion a little over a week ago in light rain. Wow, that stings. -
Way too early planning a trip out to the park on Saturday September 25. Primary concern is new credits since last visit in 2009. All questions assume pre-Covid standards. Does Fright Fest usually start by this time? No dates currently set, but auditions are scheduled for FF. Is FF a separate-ticket event? Read: do they kick out the day guests and re-open an hour later for FF? Are any major coasters excluded during the event? Which Flash Pass level is recommended? I'm assuming Platinum.

I realized we haven't had a Ju(i)cy Lucy in this thread yet. For those unaware, this burger is a Minneapolis creation that puts cheese on the INSIDE of the burger patty. The exterior of the one I had tonight. And since I forgot to take a cross-section when I first got it like a total idiot, here it is nearly gone, the interior cheese still visible.

I bought a car with a 72 month lease in October 2019. Due to COVID, my federal student loans were placed in forbearance. I used the money that would have gone into my student loans towards my car payments. I submitted the last payment today. On my birthday.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

I'm getting ready for my first visit to the park next week and I think my biggest question at this point is: Twisted Timber's loose article policy. AKA, if I have a phone/keys/wallet in a zippered pocket, will I still need to get a fluffy, fluffy bunny filled with medicine and goo? Will I be able to sit on/attach a hat to my belt? -
It might not be the most recent, but I love it enough to share. 13 horror-themed Funko pocket POP! figures.
