Magnum XL-200 First Rider Auction

I forgot about that, didn't it get cancelled because next to no one signed up? -
Chairswing falls on guests
YoshiFan replied to HEADCHEEZ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The weight limit for each row (2 seats) is 275 pounds. So weight had nothing do do with it. I don't trust carnival rides at all. They seem to have more accidents than rides in non traveling parks. I haven't been on any carnival rides in years and will probably never go on a carnival ride again. -

Interesting to hear the test seat is more forgiving than the actual ride seat. Sounds like that is just asking for trouble and angry guests. It is usually the opposite I thought. Like with Voodoo, the test seat belt is a couple of inches shorter where I couldn't get it buckled and was able to buckle the actual ride buckle myself with no help. -

I think because in other areas of the country, new rides don't get lines like that. For example I rode The Dark Knight on the 5th day it was open at Great Adventure, I waited 25 minutes. I rode Voodoo a few weeks after it opened, I had a 5 minute wait. Even Fahrenheit that I rode in August was an hour, which was a long wait by me. So when I hear people talking about only 2 or 3 hours for Diamondback or how it was a 6 hour wait, it just seems amazing to see that type of line and people are actually willing to wait that long. -

I can't tell but does the line go all the way to where the lift hill supports are at the top of the picture? If so that is crazy. -

That was a great update, I wish they would still run Rolling Thunder like that. Today it is rare for both sides to be running at the same time and dispatches take 5+ minutes. I also am shocked to see the park was open everyday starting in April and they were open until Midnight every day in the summer. -
How Often Do You Go To Your Local Park?
YoshiFan replied to sfmmrules!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Usually an average of 15 times per season to both Dorney and Great Adventure. I normally go a lot to Great Adventure in April, May and early June, September and October (Friday nights) when the park is less crowded and go to Dorney during the summer where lines aren't as bad. -
Six Flags Great Adventure 4/11

They closed yesterday and today at 2:00 because of the weather. I don't blame them, it has been in the low 40s all day with rain. I have been to parks in bad weather before but even that is too much for me plus they say the wind chill is 35. -

Are all the adult slides enclosed or are any open? I saw tickets at my local Costco for $25 and it looks like a cool place to visit next winter. -
I have never visited a park on my birthday. I have been to MGM at WDW a few times on Christmas most recently 2006. It was great, ToT was a walk on in the middle of the day! The other holiday park visit I can think of was when I went to Dorney on Labor Day 2006, the park was dead. I went in 2007 on Labor Day to Hershey. It wasn't nearly as good. Lots of closed rides, 1 train running on too many coasters and long lines.

What's with the people in bathing suits? It was way too cold for water rides and I thought none were open anyway. -
Six Flags Great Adventure 4/11

They closed the park 3 days in a row early in September last year. Friday was a SP holder only night, they closed 2 1/2 hours early (only a 5 hour event), the next day they closed at 4 instead of 10, the day after they closed a few hours early. I went to the SP holder event, I wasn't that upset because I got 23 rides in 2 1/4 hours but plenty of people were, who drove to the park after they called and were told the park would be open until 10 and didn't get on any rides because they got there too late(it was raining all day, the park was only open from 5 - 10 for SP holders but cleared up around 6). A little over 400 people were there that night. As much as I hate seeing the park closing early, I know that in April, May, September and possibly October and even the summer for that matter, I will not to go to the park if bad weather is forecasted. I'm not even sure what to do about tomorrow. It is going to be in the upper 40's with 15 - 20 mph winds. The park is closed for a buyout but open to SP holders as well. I don't think they will close early but I know it is possible so if I do go, I am getting there early. I just wish they would update the website when the park closes early. The day the park closed at 4 instead of 10, it still said the park was open until 10 at 6:00. If I was going to go to the park (it wasn't raining that much at that point) and checked the website I would have thought it was open. -
Hersheypark Springtime in the Park
YoshiFan replied to Jman0477's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Good luck, you will need it! If Midway America is closed (since they could still open it as they did in past years) and only 5 coasters are open, I don't even want to think about how bad the lines are going to be. Then there is the chance they won't be running multiple trains on everything. I hope I am wrong and lines won't be bad but I can see crazy lines for the few coasters open. -
The only issue is that if enough people don't show up, the park will close early. In September last year there was a Season Passholder night, it was raining all day but at 5 when the event started it was misting, and later cleared up. They still closed 2 1/2 hours early even after people called and were told the park was open from 5 - 10. Plenty of people showed up only to be turned away after they had called to make sure the park was open. 410 people were in the park that night. The same weekend, they closed early on Saturday and Sunday

Six Flags Parks on Easter?
YoshiFan replied to ahecht's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great Adventure is open for season pass holders on Easter as well. There is a buyout that day with a large Jewish group that always goes to the park on Easter. -

How many annual passes do you have?
YoshiFan replied to Electerik's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dorney Park, regular pass Six Flags Great Adventure Premium Pass (no extra cost, if you process by May you get Premium which entitles you to the passholder events). I don't travel much anymore so I didn't see any reason to go for the CF Platinum Pass since the closest CF park other than Dorney is King's Dominion which is around 5 hours away. I used to have a WDW Annual Pass but didn't renew. -
$1.00 per use, up to 2 hours. The thing is, if the waits aren't bad, you can leave it in 1 locker and go to other nearby rides. Since Batman, Nitro and The Dark Knight are within a few hundred feet of each other, what you can do is put your stuff say in the Nitro locker and leave it there while you ride Nitro, Batman and TDK rather than having to pay to put it in a locker each time. They are very strict with the locker policy, you can't take anything with you in line that won't fit in a pocket, not even the souvenir refill soda bottles and now this year every coaster except the kiddie coasters and Runaway Mine Train and Rolling Thunder have them.

I have seen the park emptier once, Family Fall Fun Night last year. Only 410 people supposedly were there. On the sky ride, I saw a total of 5 people (not counting the employees) walking around the park. Valleying is where the train gets stuck usually at a low point because it doesn't have enough speed to make it through the entire circuit.
