Weird Coaster Facts
KingRCT3 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
- Coaster designers use Excel to design their rides (at least TGG and GCI do). - The turn out of the station on Tornado at Särkänniemi uses square rails. Any idea why? There're also tires on the train. I'm not sure why, but I think it's for the anti-roll back. -
KingRCT3's NoLimits creations

Hi there! Long time no see. Here is a coaster I made for a French contest, meant to be the last one on NL1. We got a cool template with a nice cliff, and had to make a coaster out of it. [the EDGE] (awesome name, I know) The station is a block and the pre-launch is not really interesting. Here we go! The launch shoots you under the ropeway's upper station. Inside the tunnel, lies a small surprising pop of airtime. Then comes the top-hat, with a cool amount of airtime and a breathtaking view of the valley. You can see that its standing above a huge gap, thanks to the special support structure. Here's a view from below. Vertiginous... Comes the first inversion of the ride, a corkscrew/zero-g. Then the coaster twists aroung the ropeway's tower. It's an overbanked turn and, once again, it's quite high up in the air. Artistic shot of that unique combinaison between a coaster and a ropeway's tower. The first set of MCBR comes right here. But, uh oh, that quiet-looking turn ends not so well... Twiiiistyy! This is a Smiler-inspired drop, but with a S-turn at the top, thus some airtime. That drop leads into a Norwegian Loop. Here it is, right in front of the famous cliff. After a second set of MCBR, the coaster has a last element to offer. Isn't that what we call a twist ending? It's an upward heartline roll, followed by a half non-inverted loop. The coaster part is over, but not the ride. Thanks to this transfer track, the train will be able to board into a gondola. Let's get back up here. During the trip, enjoy the scenery and take a rest after the wild ride you've been through. If the coaster is a Gerstlauer Eurofighter, the ropeway is a Doppelmayr 3S. 3S stands for 3 seils, which means 3 cables. Two of them are still and support the gondolas, and the third one moves and pulls them to the top. Here we are, back to the station. I hope you enjoyed the ride! I'll leave you with this overall shot. -

^ Awesome post, thank you! I know that for ropeways (chairlifts, gondolas...), you have the choice to put the motor either at the top or at the bottom. And the best choice, if possible, is the top, because you have more grip on the cable, due to the natural tension the cable gives you with its weight. So you use less power. I don't know for coasters but I think it's the same. -
Nigloland! New Coaster for 2014

More pieces in place. The beginning does look like an Intamin megalite, with the first airtime hill crossing the lift. [/center] Source -
What's your most hated coaster company?

Wow. -
Some rides you don't see in parks (unless I'm mistaking) and which could be awesome: Mission Space - KMG It's like a big Star Flyer. Ejection Seat - Technical Park The Ejection Seat is not the same as a Slingshot, as it uses elastic ropes instead of springs. It's more powerful and you do more flips. I never seen an Ejection Seat at a park (always Slingshots), but I could be wrong. Mistral - Mondial Park have their pendulum rides (ie. Giant Frisbee), but the Mistral is not one of them. Capriolo - Mondial I'm too scared to ride one of those due to the upside down hedgehopping maneuver and the quick gondola rotations that hurt your head. But I guess you could get some awesome dive effects.

That would be cool to see. Anyone have any pictures? From RCDB: I know that it is at least featured on Sierra Sidewinder, Pegasus and it's clones, Twist and Dwervelwind. -

The panoramics trains (for me at least), the first drop in last row that give some nice ejector, the tunnel (always good a tunnel on a coaster), the ampersand (very nice from the park and two head-choppers on ride), the speed air bump, the splash that you can touch onride (though I find a real splash more pretty) and the overall airtime. And not a single bit of vibration. Not. A. Single. From my ~ten rides that day (2012), I can tell that it's the smoothest coaster I've ever rode. -

Rock'n'Roller coaster (DLP) has an high-speed mode as well. You can actually have a ride in high-speed, because when a soundtracker (a train) is taken out of the garage, it has to do five laps in high-speed. This mode is like 110 km/h instead of 96. -

Doesn't hydra also do this? It doesn't have any drive tires on the bottom of the lift. Aw my bad. Yes Hydra does that too. Good eye. -
What's New for 2014? Rides and Attractions

I am as surprised as you (that would indeed be the first familly B&M), but HZ is usually a reliable source, and he said that was confirmed: -

^ They planned a to build Togo at a time as well: Source Other random facts: - Flight of Fear was designed with a totally flat MCBR, making the train to stall in case of an e-stop. (don't know if they did something) - Nemesis Inferno is the only B&M that hit the lift using its natural speed. All other B&M have tires to synchronize the grip and makes it smoother. - Oblivion and Diving Machine G5 are slighly different. The english ride has flat turns at the top and after the brakes, and thus uses a sideway chain lift to pull the train (I think it's the only coaster in the world to feature that). G5 however, has slightly slanted turns, and so doesn't need any mechanisms. - Casey Jr. - Le Petit Train du Cirque is the first coaster using an onboard audio. It's also the first and only Vekoma e-powered. - B&M Inverted coasters are said to be inspired by chairlifts. (Damn I should have asked that at the EAS..! Ropeways are my passion as well.) - Speaking of ropeways; Giovanola, Doppelmayr, Swiss Rides (BMF), Soquet, Compagnie des Alpes (Parc Astérix, Walibi...) and some other companies have a business both in the amusement industry and in the ropeway industry. -
Flat-tracked inversions look so irritating.
KingRCT3 replied to mrlego611's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Pages 70-71, last paragraph It's not a rip-off, sadly (for the look of it). It's a mirrored clone of Freischütz minus the first corkscrew. The good news is that it going to feature the new X-Train. -

I usually don't have problems with two tubes track, but the new Maurer Sohne (sorry mrlego611!) looks terrible. The yellow color on everything doesn't help, for sure. Source -

Amazing water slides
KingRCT3 replied to FLIPDUDE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Here is an article about those slides, by Polin : http://blog.polin.com.tr/2011/11/polin-introduces-magic-spheres/ Sadly the images and schemas don't work anymore, but there's a description: Oh, and there's another funny slide at the same park as above : -
IMAscore. Period. I can't help but listening to their CD they gave me at the EAS (as long as a cool energy drink can with their logo ). They also did the ones for Krake, BlueFire, The Smiler and a few other. I also like the soundtracks from Efteling (Raveleijn, De Vliegende Hollander, Villa Volta). Check the dance remixes Efteling post on their , haha, this park is awesome!I enjoy Disney's musics as well, the classics like POTC or Phantom Manor, but also the new ones like Mystic Manor. Europa Park got some nice tunes, Euromir is awesome! Check this . Fluch der Kassandra, as long as Mystére (from the old laser show) are among my favorites as well.

The park posted a first teaser: Confirmed facts: - Lift - 800m/2600ft long - 33m/108ft high - 100 km/h/62mph (doubt it, more like 90 km/h) - 9 moments of airtime - 4g - No inversion -

^^ It ain't The Smiler! To fix those kind of things, though, the only solution is to hit that with a hammer... That's what they did in England.
