^ I would like his skills if he played for the Leafs, but I still wouldn't like "him". (Does that make any sense?)

Photo TR: Wild Adventures Media Day 4-17-10
dandaman replied to Erik Johnson's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Calvin and Hobbes 20 years down the road. Awesome TR. Still need to convince the parents to make a stop in Valdosta one of these times we're driving the long I-75 route. -
Likely so. Most I ever have running at one time usually consists of Skype, Firefox and a fullscreen game like Halo or Burnout. I dunno, Robb... to be honest I think you should switch back to XP. Seems like WAY too much effort to wait for 7 to crap itself every time something important needs to process.

Saw it again tonight with a different group of friends than last night; the one whom I'd expected to criticize all the inaccuracies was the one laughing his ass off the most. A great, fun film.

Why was there a coroner at your house? Are you dying? Can I have your stuff? Happy birthday, Nathan!

According to IMDB (grain of salt provided), he was modelling his speech after Adam West's Batman, since he hates the gravelly Christian Bale version. I too went in with minimal expectations; the trailers and the like don't do it nearly enough justice.

^ Why was the door so loose on the box? Either way, amazing clean hit.

Just got back from Kick-Ass. VERY intense movie, and I laughed almost the whole damn time. 10/10, you OWE it to yourself to see this!

I'm 99% sure there still exists in my basement every single Kidsongs VHS ever produced. Mad props.

I don't understand it, but I seem to be the only person on the planet who's had VERY minimal problems with Vista. That having been said, I missed out on the "free 7 upgrade" thing for Vista users by about a week of purchasing my laptop last June. (Thanks for informing me, Best Buy. ) For now, though, I'm sticking with Vista... at least until the OS goes all to hell as is apparently projected. Also, random Windows 7 video from College Humor.

Did you do that when I was there? I don't remember...

Official TPR Chat Saturday Night!
dandaman replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Normally I hate watching SyFy made-for-TV films because they're so bad... but TPR Chat helped show me that they're AWESOMELY bad. I couldn't stop laughing for a full two hours! -
Photo TR: Dan Smith's Universal Orlando Easter-Gras Weekend
dandaman replied to dandaman's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I was debating which ones to use, and for the most part, the sexual ones seemed to fit the TPR mindset. (And I'd never heard the house elf one before, LOL!) -
Helloooooooo, TPR! As I sit here wearing my awesome Club TPR lanyard (plausible) and writing this TR by hand with my new Club TPR pen (less plausible), I look back to about five years ago when I first signed up for this online madness and don't even know where to start to thank all the awesome, equal-minded (see: clinically insane) people I've met since then. Then, because I'm old, I immediately forget everything before 2008 and become very confused. Also, I yell at kids to get off my dorm room lawn, somehow. That having been said, here's some pictures -- I think -- of my recent Easter Saturday trip to Universal Orlando. Read it. Love it. Buy the home version. "So Easter's tomorrow. Wanna celebrate Mardi Gras with the Beach Boys tonight?" "Sure. Might as well work in some last bits of sin before church." Quota met. Thank you, and good night. So, as is clearly shown, the crowds were rather... crowded the day before Easter. Combined with the Beach Boys concert later that night, I was surprised the lines weren't even longer. Largest wait time I saw was 110 minutes for Rockit. Speaking of which, I might as well get these outta the way. The empty seats and the timestamp remind me that the party I was with entered the park around 11am, and Rockit was testing until just about 3pm. Was this taken outside of the park? YES! Do I not care in the slightest? YES! Stainless steel? YES! [/appliancedirect] So I heard that Freestyle Music Park is finally building that 500-footer everyone wants. "Welcome to a magical journey through my mouth." I actually prefer this over BTTF (yes, you heard that right) just because it's so damned hilarious. Even the non-Simpsons fans in the group were laughing the whole time. So between my summer visit to Chicago and my friend's love for Jake and Elwood, I've become a big fan of the Blues Brothers over the past year or so. Which was good, 'cause I'd totally forgotten they had the show here until I stumbled upon it. Go Aretha/Ray! "And we would especially like to welcome all the representatives of Illinois's law enforcement community that have chosen to join us here in the Palace Hotel Ballroom at this time..." All right. So the Bluesmobile is nice 'n all, but for certain people like myself, it fails to compare to... THIS. Cue the Delorean jokes; I still want one. Looks a little beaten up, though. It's still good, it's still good! "They see me rollin', they hatin'..." "If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits Happy Hour... you're gonna see some serious sh*t." Oh, also... bike with flux capacitor? Slightly less awesome as the car, but awesome all the same. Highly impractical, but still... well, you know. This high-quality upskirt pornography can only mean one thing... ...That my group only bought a one-park pass and that I went to take advantage of my free-Universal-Express-after-4-pm perk included in the Premium Pass over at IoA and take some pictures of Pottersville in the process. Yep. And again, while we're at it... Hulk ANGRY! Hulk SMASH! Hulk MONTAGE! SKLOOSH! (And yet, is still a Dan-approved water interaction.) Mess O' Track Half O' Loop Sunset O' Awesome TUNNEL O' TAKING JJ Intamin credit Sounds like he got seconds. Since you've seen these all before ad nauseam, the following Wizarding World captions will contain failed Harry Potter pickup lines. No. 1: Have you been using the Petrificus Totalus spell? Because you've made me stiff. No. 2: I may be a Gryffindor, but I'd sure love to Slytherin you. No. 3: Have you been using the Accio charm? 'Cause I've been coming to you every night. No. 4: I'm not wearing an invisibility cloak, but do you think I could still visit your restricted section tonight? No. 5: I must have had some Felix Felicis, because I think I'm about to get lucky. No. 6: Interested in making some magic together? My wand is at the ready. No. 7: This chimney should've taken advice from No. 1. ...OK, I'll end the alienating of the non-fans here, because a thought occurs: With Jurassic Park now adjacent to Hogwarts, this squares the great presence of John Williams within IoA. Time for a great and completely accurate lesson in Canabian history! Fun Fact: All houses in Canabia are painted blue, except the explosive ones. FREEBIRD! "I heartily endorse this event or product." Godspeed, Wimpy. Godspeed. It's time for DOOOOOOOM. Also, it's about 6:20. Ladies and gentlemen... the backside of Phallic Lighthouse. OK, so skipping ahead about an hour, we find ourselves after the surprisingly great Mardi Gras parade and about to watch the Beach Boys take the stage. Technically this was my first-ever live concert (which, considering the band, makes me feel even older, I guess). They did quite awesome, and featured John Stamos on drums, which was cool too, I guess. And, what the hell, some evening Rockit pics to round out the set. Special cameo appearance by the... well, I might as well just type it out, the ringy dingy ding-a-ling dings. And that's all from Universal Orlando, the place where dreams come true! Wait... crap. Once again, thanks for reading. You may now retrieve the sanity you left with a non-rider. Please exit all the way through the exit.

Official TPR Chat Saturday Night!
dandaman replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A very entertaining and freaky movie if you ask me. I saw it in the 70's during my formative theme park years. It was written by Michael Crichton. I just loved the fact that they got Yul Brynner to practically reprise his role in The Magnificent Seven... but as a murderous robot. Also, Dave... thank you so much for posting tomorrow's movie schedule. I was almost about to be productive, but screw that, because DINOSHARK! -

I want to ask this since it might get lost in the discussion tomorrow night... Has anyone here seen the glorious Yul Brynner sci-fi film that is "Westworld"? I saw it last night and it was seriously Red Dawn awesome. -
I still think all the other people in the world should go out last-minute Christmas shopping on December 21st for some sweet apocalyptic deals.

VTR: Space Shuttle Discovery Launch April 5, 2010
dandaman replied to Speeddeamon128's topic in Random, Random, Random
Most of my college friends are literally rocket scientists, so a few of them and I drove a few minutes over to Melbourne Beach since we didn't want to brave the Titusville traffic. Not quite as visually stunning compared to seeing the August midnight launch at Cocoa Beach Pier (naturally) but beautiful all the same. -

Ohhh, I've been there, man... Awesome TR of a place I never knew existed! Mind you, 95% of my UK park awareness is thanks to TPR, and based on the above, that explains things a little. -
Was there the whole day with friends; sure it was crowded, but I've seen a lot worse at other parks on Easter. (Rockit was the biggest wait with 105 minutes.) Friends only had 1-day 1-park so I went Island-hopping with my Universal Express-infused Premier Pass after 4; was there for 3 hours, saved about 8 in line. The area around the concert from about 8 onwards was insanely packed, but I didn't mind that much. Heck, if that's the worst the actual park gets, that ain't half bad at all!
-
^Surprised I didn't see you in passing; ate at the Café right about the time they started letting people into the concert. So, in that same vein... happened to catch the Beach Boys feat. John Stamos for the Mardi Gras concert series. Technically it was my first-ever concert, too.
