Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread
Jaykethekid replied to OzCatter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I emailed the park, they did say that they are looking into new family additions, but the new additions opening for 2016 are the ones being built at planet snoopy. They didn't confirm nor deny there will be more new rides. I think it's highly plausible that they will open later. -

I've never head that boomerang was used. I could've sworn it was new. I doubt it will be removed anytime soon, sadly -
Frontier City Offseason Photo Tour
Jaykethekid replied to Jaykethekid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
During the offseason, Frontier City uses various buildings and attractions for maintenance. They had ride parts practically everywhere across the park. I know their director of operations well, so he took me around the park. -

Well, if thunderhawk did get removed like rumors last said, the condor could go there. -

I wonder when the park will announce it if they do. This is quite exciting news! -

Frontier City Offseason Photo Tour
Jaykethekid replied to Jaykethekid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It was pretty simple. Frontier City is definitely doing the best it ever has. This summer was the only time I have seen constant full trains on silver bullet. It's nice to see the amount of people coming into the park. I agree, all those things would be great for the park. The thing is they do not make enough for new rides on that scale. They would have to go a really long time without new smaller additions to afford a larger ride. Personally, I don't go to the park and feel like they are lacking anything. I go and feel greatly satisfied. -

Family coaster could come if that is what he said. If the park likes feedback from the guests, they would be installing a thrilling coaster instead. I read comments on their Facebook page, and the majority of wants for new rides involve high thrill. There is one or two people wanting new family rides each post, but that's like a ratio of 1 to 10 thrill wanting people. It has been discussed before, but I do see a larger thrill coaster coming. -
Last weekend, I was given the chance to tour Frontier City while the park was closed for the offseason. I was shown around the park, interesting spots on a few rides, and a peek at the construction site for the parks new for 2016, Zamperla Power Surge, Gunslinger. I will go into more detail with the pictures when we get there. Many thanks to Michael Schwitek for showing me around this great park! Let's get into the photos! Ever wondered what the underside of a classic rotor ride looks like? Well this is what it looks like on the restored tumbleweed. Pretty simple design. Casino, disassembled and getting some love. Bottom of a car for the Tilt-a-Whirl ride, Tornado. Tornado structure This area over by the Ferris wheel is normally extremely wooded and dark. I was told these trees are trimmed every year but grow back really fast. Kind of interesting! One half of Brain Drain's train. Brain Drain wheels and parts The other half of Brain Drain's train. Diamondback chassis I can't remember exactly what ride these are for, but they look like they are also for Diamondback. Wild Kitty getting some paint and reupholstered. Log flume all drained out. Construction site for Gunslinger. It is being built where Rodeo Roundup was. Sidewinder disassembled for inspection. Interesting shots of Wildcat viewed from the old site of Eruption. Wildcat lift motor. This thing is huge! You never realize the scale of it until you are right next to it. Like I said, it's pretty big. Anyways, thanks again to Michael Schwitek for this fun afternoon. Somethings that didn't get pictured are a few buildings in the entrance plaza area are getting worked on and updated, and a few smaller disassembled rides. My expectations are quite high for the 2016 season and it looks like they will be well exceeded. This park is really starting to shine!

No dedicated airtime rides? I'm sorry but doesn't almost all major coasters at the park have airtime? Outlaw Run and Powder keg are 90% airtime Anyways, I think I got what you are saying. Your talking about rides like B&M hyper coasters which are just straight out and back and serious if airtime hills.

Yeah, Dollywood could get away with a wing coaster because they really didn't have a major multi-looper (Tennessee Tornado is a little obscure and not typical of a B&M looper like Wildfire, Kumba, etc). If Silver Dollar City were building a B&M they'd probably have to make it pretty different, like a dive coaster, inverted coaster or flying coaster. A wing coaster would probably still fit but it would need to set itself apart - either with a launch like Thunderbird (but that's stepping on Powder Keg's toes) or with wing coaster specific elements like keyholes and a dive drop. That makes me think. What does the park seem to have a gap in? I think an inverted coaster would work great as well. If it is an invert, wouldn't that probably mean it would be something along the lines of banshee size wise? That could work well for the park.

Frontier City 2016
Jaykethekid replied to CoasterWrangler's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I got in touch with the park and they told me it is not a trailer model. It is a new park model. That's a good thing to hear. I just wonder how they will theme it to fit in with the parks theme. The colors aren't the best fitting for the park. Anyways, I personally am very excited for this ride! -

It did seem that the smaller cedar fair parks where lacking in social media. Many of the accounts were not very active. I thought I saw in a previous post a page or two back that work has already started on Timberwolf. For anything me that knows, is it going to be the section from the end of the first phase to the helix or what? -

It's cool they are keeping us updated on the construction this offseason. Does anyone know when construction will start? I'm assuming it's soon. -

That does make a lot of sense. I never knew that happened. Hopefully there will be some improvement this season. Speaking of that, does anyone know when the park opens for the season? -
Coasters at Night
Jaykethekid replied to Erik Johnson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It seems to me that any missouri wooden coaster at night is amazing. I am mainly speaking of Outlaw Run and Prowler, but Timberwolf at night is still very cool!
