  1. ^ That makes sense, although I am still very sad the Orbit is going. I'd rather Orbit stay and the East River Crawler goes than vice versa. I know I'm speaking already spoken words but it's really a shame they just closed Orbit like that with no warning regardless. Heck, they remove a good original ride from 1976 but they decide to keep a pirate ship ride that just travels in zigzags with waterguns and empty queue lines. (Buccaneer Battle, I'm looking at you...)

  3. Rainbow ones, 10/10, any other colour is a 9/10. Permanent markers
  4. I am well aware I am double posting but here is something interesting: I want the Orbit to stay personally so I contacted Six Flags Great America on their Contact Us page. I basically told them that I love the Orbit, it is one of my favourite rides, and I heard rumours that it could be closing and could you consider keeping it open? So Jason Carrel, the Operations Supervisor, contacted me: I underlined the parts where he specified "the rest of the season." So I am guessing that there is a possibility the Orbit could be staying, although Orbit, Jester's Wild Ride, and East River Crawler could still leave/change locations in the park. I am just wondering since Screamscape said that Orbit and Jester's Wild Ride are closing for good, while Carrel said they were closed for the season... If we want to honestly keep Orbit open, or Jester's Wild Ride, we should contact the park. Since they already have stuff preplanned they may still go on with demolition if they have planned it, but it's better than nothing and since Carrel worded his email as such they might stay after all. I do recall Whizzer was supposed to close back in 2001 or 2002 and with complaints the Whizzer remained open and is here today.
  5. Great trip report! Actually I think the riders on Goliath were all ejected from the seat . I'm surprised to hear Georgia Scorcher was actually re-rideable as none of the B&M standups I have ridden (Iron Wolf and Mantis) were more or less a one and done thing. I also hope that Dare Devil Dive gets rid of VR. A ride with capacity of 72 riders per hour should not even exist.
  6. Nevermind, it reopened during the day and had over an hour wait. Park must be busy today, even with most of the local kids back in school. When I went on Batman, I saw X-Flight got stuck on a lift hill, so maybe something with that. I did go to SFGAm today with a friend of mine and it was pretty crowded for a late August weekday. Goliath and Raging Bull both had 60 minute waits. We skipped Giant Drop since Raging Bull was also closed in the morning and as a result Giant Drop was mobbed with people. I rode Demon's Rage Of The Gargoyle for the first time today and I did like it but I feel Six Flags should not waste any more energy on it as I would rather prefer Demon instead of a permanent VR on it. It was cool in the sense that it actually felt like you were on a motion simulator instead of a coaster. Operations were a bit slow on Demon but as there was not that many people in line, my friend and I only waited a half hour. It is worth riding once but not often, unless lines for VR are next to empty. One ride that actually surprised me was the River Rocker. My friend loves that ride and convinced me to go on it and at first I was okay about it because I don't remember it being anything special, but we sat at the ends and actually got some floater at the top. I don't think River Rocker was the best ride ever and I don't know how it compares to other swinging ships but it was actually pretty fun, and I do recommend it if you never rode it.
  7. My Neighbour Totoro is by far my favourite movie. I love Studio Ghibli movies so much. I also loved Inside Out because it was a very emotional and real movie.
  8. No, it's one of my personal favourite entrances. I absolutely love it. Great trip report! Is Orbit still closed? I really am hoping they will at least give a few opportunities for last rides instead of closing it abruptly.
  9. My grandmother of 99 years just passed away today. She has been in critical health for 4 years so we knew this day was coming, but it hit very hard. I am very very sad as she was a wonderful and unique person.
  10. Below is KI's rendering of the Mystic Timbers. After the shed is track that is lower than the track entering the shed. I am not sure if something like this was already posted, but I'm 99% sure it's a drop track in the shed.
  11. A roller coaster running one train that has only one car per train. (Indiana Beach, I'm looking at you...)
  12. I would love to ride Disaster Transport, Wildcat (CP), and Shockwave (KD) one last time as I loved all three of those rides when I rode them. In regards to rides I have never ridden, I would ride Big Bad Wolf, Batman and Robin: The Chiller, Riverview Bobs, and Eagle's Fortress.
  13. SFGAm on Thursday!!!! I'll probably do their waterpark that day as well as Batman the Ride and/or Raging Bull and Goliath (but Batman for sure ).
  14. 9/23/2016 MCRX
  15. Wha??? Who is saying Storm Chaser is the worst RMC? I haven't seen anybody say that yet, while I have seen Goliath consistently in that position. Storm Chaser is absolutely nuts, and a Top 5 coaster for me! If that's really the worst (or even second-worst) RMC, then once I get on all of the RMC's my Top 10 is going to look almost entirely different! No one said it was a bad coaster but compared to New Texas Giant and Lightning Rod apparently it isn't as good. These comments were mostly through Youtube videos. Personally I have only ridden Goliath so I can't say for sure.
  16. ^Thank you! I don't think they will be too bad but do beware of Justice League, like I said I waited an hour but it's worth it or you can get Flash Pass or go single rider and take care of the wait. And, what do you mean by "managing realistic expectations" at SFGAm?
  17. I went to Six Flags Great America yesterday and here is a trip report: Overall, the park was not too crowded. Lines were pretty short with the exception of Justice League: Battle For Metropolis, which was about an hour. It was also fun because I decided to ride a few rides I don't normally ride when I go, such as East River Crawler and King Chaos as well as a few others. Here is the full list of rides I rode: King Chaos (1x, walk-on) It is a fun top spin that goes upside 5 times. Not the best but it is very fun! Vertical Velocity (1x, less than 5 minute wait) I do love Vertical Velocity a lot, even without the holding brake. The launch still scares me to this day. East River Crawler (1x, less than 5 minute wait) I haven't been on this ride in years, and it was a very fun ride. It is an Anton Schwarzkopf Polyp-style ride (correct me if I'm wrong). Batman-the Ride (2x, both about 15 minute waits) One of the best rides in the park in my opinion. I rode it in the front both times because the wait was very short. It is VERY intense, and even though the entire ride is intense the two corkscrews at the end are the highlight for me. Goliath (1x, about 30 minute wait) Lots of people say it Goliath is the worst RMC or second worse to Storm Chaser (which I have not ridden), and it probably isn't as good as let's say N-tag or Lightning Rod, but it is still a fantastic ride with a great drop, great airtime, and your body gets flung all over the place. The inverted zero-g stall blew my mind when it was announced, and it still blows my mind to this day. Goliath is still better than all the wooden coasters I have ridden except for Holiday World's Voyage (Goliath is the only RMC I have ridden as of this post). Lunch: Angelo's Pizza and Pasta. I ordered pasta with meatballs and a bread roll of some kind. The roll was very good as well as the butter, but the pasta was horrific, and the meatballs were atrocious and did not taste like real meat. However, I did not come here for the food aha. Superman: Ultimate Flight (1x, about 15 minute wait) I do like Superman a lot, and the pretzal loop is still one of my favourite inversions. However among locals I feel Superman is very overrated. Most people I know say that Superman is one of the best coasters ever and that Batman: the Ride is just okay, and for me that definitely is not the case as Batman: the Ride is miles better than Superman. The Dark Knight (1x, suprisingly about a 30 minute wait) I haven't ridden The Dark Knight in about 5-6 years so I decided to ride it. I was really surprised that the wait was a half hour and Superman was only about 15 minutes. I do like The Dark Knight, but I don't love it. I do like the scenery and theme of the ride, and it is very well done, but not amazing. X-Flight (1x, about 15 minutes) X-Flight is a nice ride, and the inline twist into the tower is an amazing moment. The helix for some reason had a bit of a rattle to it, but the rest of the ride was very fun. Justice League: Battle For Metropolis (1x, 1 hour wait) I did not like the hour wait, but I did get to see the themed queue line and get to know the storyline better. The ride itself was very fun and very well-done. I knew it would be better than the typical Ghost Blasters dark ride but I did not expect it to be that good. Raging Bull (1x, 20 minutes) Raging Bull is one of the best rides in the park in my opinion. In particular the airtime off the brake run and the hill following it is very very good. Giant Drop (1x, 10 minutes) I personally love drop towers, and it isn't nearly as terrifying as StratosFear at Knoebel's but it was very fun nonetheless. Viper (1x, 10 minutes) Viper is a very good wooden coaster, especially in the back row. Dinner: Primo's Pizza. I ordered a pizza slice with fries. Pizza was okay, but the fries were surprisingly pretty good. Six Below Frozen Yogurt: I ordered a medium NY Cheesecake flavour with M&Ms and maraschino cherries. It did not taste much like cheesecake, it tasted more like vanilla; however it was very very good. The selection of toppings however were not too good in my opinion, which included selections such as granola, peaches, pineapples, and raisins or cranberries; I'm sure lots of people like them but I personally did not like the selection. Triple Play (1x, 5 minute wait) A Huss Troika. It was very fun. Whizzer (1x, 15 minute wait) Whizzer is a classic. I love the spiral lift, its location in the woods, and the part where it flies over a pond. Whizzer is a very fun ride. Demon (2x, walk on) Demon was a bit on the rough side, but it wasn't too rough. I did enjoy it, and since there was very few people in line the operator let me ride again. From past experiences the front for me was the roughest part so I sit in the middle-back where it isn't as bad. Overall, I had a very good day at Six Flags Great America. Now for some pictures: Raging Bull Big Easy Balloons Vertical Velocity King Chaos Look at all those people on the ride. Batman - The Ride More Vertical Velocity! Goliath, the most original name for a roller coaster Demon. I bet absolutely no one has taken a photo like this before X-Flight Justice League: Battle For Metropolis. Once again, I am very happy SFGAm got one of these. Raging Bull American Eagle. I didn't ride it today as I don't really like it. Demon and Ricochet The animatronic talking Cyborg inside Justice League. I really liked the queue line for Justice League. Giant Drop Columbia Carousel Superman - Ultimate Flight This concludes my Six Flags Great America report! I hope you liked it

  19. From "Audience Of One" - Rise Against "But we ran away Now all my friends have gone Maybe we've outgrown all the things that we once loved Runaway But what are we running from? A show of hands from those in this audience of one Where have they gone?" From "Let It Sleep" - Asking Alexandria "Life's too short for you to die Ignore the lows make sure you're high And don't you ever look back" From "Breathless" - Asking Alexandria "I spend my days looking through pages Trying to find a way to get away from me With love to give that leaves you breathless Now all I need to find a way back inside my mind" From "Suffer" - Get Scared "I felt the best side of me To hide away and retreat How will I last From all the hell in my past A battle out of my hands Call me disaster and feel my disdain So many moments that I can't erase" From "Kaleidoscope" - Blink-182 "Stop banging away on my kaleidoscope Stop draining the color out of my scene Just play me something I can dance to I can dance to anything You wanna sing So lock me up in a studio Fill it up with sound and scenarios Stop blocking the driveway with your car Put the butterfly in the bell jar"
  20. "I'm A Natural Blue" - Waterparks If you love pop punk or neon synth pop punk, please look them up, they are amazing!
  21. The Joker looks amazing! Now they just gotta redo Mean Streak and my life will be complete .
  22. So today I went to Six Flags Magic Mountain and every ride was open.
  23. While I love the Larson/ARM drop towers, my personal favourite are S&S Double Shots such as Liberty Launch at Holiday World and Double Shot at Indiana Bech. They are basically 80-100 foot Space Shots but provide LOTS of airtime and are crazy fun. In particular, IB's second shot provides really intense airtime.
  24. I think the order of it is good. I never went to SDC or Dollywood but I have been to the others so here is my input. If you go to Holiday World, the waterpark is a day in itself as there is a lot of stuff at Splashin Safari. If you must go on water slides either set aside a whole day for them or just do Wildebeest and Mammoth (if you have to choose one due to lines, then do Wildebeest). I recommend to ride in order, Thunderbird, Voyage, waterpark, Legend, Raven, along with sprinkling in other rides around the areas. As for Cedar Point, go for two days, and stay at a hotel they own because you get to enter an hour ahead of time and ride select rides. Ride the popular ones during this hour if you can. When park opens, be at the back of the park to ride Magnum, Maverick, et cetera as Magnum will be a walk-on. Work your way down. On Day 2, fill in what you did not ride. Also try to ride TTD when it is open or maybe early morning or late at night when the lines are shorter. If you have money for their Fast Pass, whatever they call it, buy it as it will save lots of time, although the Fast Pass lines could be 20-30 minutes, which is long but still beats a 1-2 hour line. Kings Island could be a two day park. I lucked out and went on a day it wasn't crowded in early June but lines could get very long. Beast is best at night as during the day it is just okay. I recommend going to Firehawk/Flight Of Fear first as they should not have as big of crowds in the early morning. Do Racer then as well. You could also go to Action Zone early and ride Invertigo first as that only runs one train, followed by The Bat, Banshee if the line is okay, and other rides (I recommend Drop Tower in particular as it is one of the tallest and best). Again if you want Fast Pass on a crowded day it will help. Also worth noting is that Kings Island is HUGE - it is MUCH bigger than the map makes it out to be - you will be walking quite a bit. I never went to Dollywood either but I would try maybe to ride Lightning Rod as much as possible, possibly late at night because it would be PHENOMENAL at night. Maybe try to hit up Tennessee Tornado in the morning as I'm not sure it is a popular ride. I don't know what else to say for that park or SDC as I never went there but I hope my other advice helped.
  25. It's really funny because I rode the one at Knoebels thinking it would not be that bad. Between the restraints, the fact you can't see the top, and the immediate drop without the pause, it is HORRIFYING. Other drop towers are scary as they are, StratosFear was downright terrifying.
