  1. Is Batman still running backwards as well? I keep meaning to go this year, I just haven't had the time yet. I still need to get my first ride on X-Flight, too.
  2. I'll only count the ones that got completely scrapped since I've been on a bunch that were relocated. Here we go: Python- BGA Shockwave- SFGAm- This also is the one I miss the most Great American Scream Machine- SFGAdv Wildcat- CP Disaster Transport- CP Big Dipper- Geauga Lake Double Loop- Geauga Lake Raging Wolf Bobs- Geauga Lake Villian- Geauga Lake Son of Beast- KI Steel Phantom- Kennywood (sorta cheating since it's sortakinda still there) High Speed Thrill Coaster- Knoebels Whirlwind- Knoebels
  3. I wonder exactly what a refurbished T2 would ride like? On second thought, I don't want to know! Seriously though, great news for the Louisville area! I really hope it does end up opening again.
  4. What in the world "ages" on a steel coaster that wouldn't be fixed as a safety hazard? If the track is getting screwed up, wouldn't it seem dangerous to run trains over it? And it isn't like it is running with opening day wheels on it. Especially on a B&M with the wheels on the outside of the track, please describe how this aging works. I don't get it. Also, you're claiming that the park adjusted the brakes to be harder on the ride. Remember, this is Great America - the park that didn't install trim brakes on either Superman or Shockwave even though both were made with spots for them. In particular, Shockwave was the only Arrow mega looper to not have the trims installed. I find it tough to believe that they just randomly decided to change their mind on Raging Bull. Finally, I rode Raging Bull on opening day. The trim brakes were there. They were tugging just as hard as they do now. From how I've had it described, they are there so that you get exactly what B&M intended out of the ride - floater air over the hills, not ejector air. In fact, it would follow that you are actually getting a better ride when the trims engage harder, as the ride is clearly moving faster at that point in time. Oh, and as for a lack of trims not saving the layout, I agree. The curvy hills really don't make for much in the way of any air, nor do they make for much in the way of laterals. I haven't been to the park in a couple years, but the last time went and rode Bull, there seemed to be a lot more B&M rattle than it used to have. I'm not saying there's anything about the ride structure that make it unsafe, but the freeze/thaw cycle every year for 13 years has to take its toll on the track a little bit. I didn't ride RB on opening day, but I did ride it about 6 weeks after. The trims came on then, too, but not as hard as they consistantly do now. Eagle's brakes come on HARD before the helix, not so much after they retracked it because it was adjusted, and V2's holding brake remains off to lessen the load on the rear spike. It's also a lot easier to reprogram existing trims than it is to install some that were never installed. Like I said at the end of my post, I think the biggest reason it feels much slower is that there are just faster coasters now than there were in '99. I don't find Nitro or even Diamondback really any faster than Raging Bull is. Comparing Raging Bull to, say, Skyrush, is like comparing a steel coaster to a wooden coaster, they were designed by different companies to do completely different things.
  5. 4 Boomerangs- Kentucky Kingdom, Darien Lake, Geauga Lake, Hersheypark 1 Invertigo- Kings Island 1 GIB- SF Great America
  6. I can live with parks and rides that have no theme to them, but a good theme REALLY enhances a ride/park. I understand SFMM didn't want to delay the opening of Full Throttle, but not having a covered station and temporary queues is pretty ridiculous. I wouldn't think it would cost that much more to at least put in permenant queue lines in time for the opening. I mean, come on, they had money and time to make sure the video of the guy skydiving worked in a queue line with no queues! Running it like this makes it feel "cheap." Oh well.
  7. The only Revenge of the Mummy I've been on is Orlando's, but it's definitely my favorite dark coaster. Flight of Fear at KI and Exterminator at Kennywood are way up there, too.
  8. Why do the mid course brakes and trims keep getting lumped together? Yes, Bull's MCBR does trim the train, but its REAL prupose is to allow for the 3 train operation. You can't just remove them. While it's true the trims are set to keep the train at a specific speed, they have been changed vs. when the ride was new, the set on the camelback used to allow the teain to run faster. SF maintenence changed it to offset the aging of the ride. I also believe that RB seems slower and worse now because there are just a lot better coasters now than there were when it was new. Those of you talking about a trimless RB not saving the layout are spot on, IMO. I still find a few other coasters at SFGAm better than Bull, but that's just me. To each their own.
  9. Nice pictures. Canobie looks like a really nice park!! I hope to do a bunch in the NE area in the next few years.
  10. Fascination for sure. I've played at Knoebels a bunch of time and always had a blast. I'd love to play it with fellow TPR members some day!
  11. Awesome!! It looks pretty similar to the now defunct High Speed Thrill Coaster at Knoebels. Definitely not the same layout, but not really too far off, either.
  12. Then all of Ohio would shut down in a light drizzle. What if Cedar Fair was bought out by Six Flags?
  13. Edit- Nevermind, I didn't read the rules properly. Carry on!
  14. I just returned home from my first ever Indiana Beach visit. What an awesome park!! Cornball Express was running great, with a lot of new track. Hoosier Hurricane was running great as well! Lost Coaster is definitely one of the oddest, yet coolest coasters I have ever done. They must've spent a lot of time on it, too, as not only did I find it to be a smooth- yet still crazy- experience, but I got 4 rides on it and didn't see it down once the entire day in the 9 hours I spent in the park! There were a few rides out of commission. The splash battle is still empty with the ride vehicles "hiding" backstage. The Falling Star is not running- it had some construction equipment near it- hopefully it will be running sometime this summer, as I love Falling Stars. There was another ride near the entrance to Cornball which was disassembled, I couldn't tell what it was. Here's a picture I took of it. The train was closed as well, but that may just have been due to the light crowd in the park today. Lost Coaster was only running one train and was the only coaster I really had to wait for- the queue was half to 3/4 full, though since it didn't break down at all it wasn't bad. Steel Hawg had 2 of its trains running, the same goes for Tig'rr. All other coasters were running one train as well, though they only had 1 to 2 train waits all day. The Lost Thieves dark ride was the only other ride with any real wait. It went down during the day for a bit but they quickly got it back open, although they only had 3 cars running, and one of the 3 cars was just getting sent through empty after the breakdown. Just a sidenote- Steel Hawg was my 100th steel coaster credit. Yay! Last, but certainly not least, we have the water swings!! They still had some lighting laying on the platform of the ride waiting to be installed on the swings, but I'm glad to see the park has them running back where they belong! I must say, I was blown away with how fun they are. Being over the water is just awesome, and it is by far the best swing ride I've ever ridden. I took a pic of them on their water platform so you can bask in their awesome-ness. Ooh, ahh! Sorry for the crappy framing. I got the lamp post right in the way. I'll do better next time! I had a fantastic time! It seems to me they really are investing in the park a bit to keep it going and get it back to where it once was. With it being under a 2 hour drive away from me, I'll definitely be going back!
  15. Big Air looks awesome!! Great TR so far- can't wait to see the rest!
  16. I agree with that 100%! I'm sure it will probably have reliability issues, too, and I'm ok with it!! Intamin's pushing the limits on this one. This thing is going to be insane, and it'll be well worth the wait for it, even if it takes a bit of time to work the "bugs" out.
  17. My favorite is the sound of the Intamin accelerator coasters during the launch- especially TTD and Kingda Ka. The whirring noise they make is awesome!! The "whoooooooooooooop" the 2nd gen Intamin drop towers make when they get to the brake run is cool as well. Last, but not least, would be the screams of pain on the Chinese knock-off coasters from those of you that did the China trip.
  18. I can't see the ride not having ankle restraints. Unless you're flipped back up a good distance above the ground, some taller people with their legs fully extended could touch the ground and get them crushed as it was coming to the ground, no? The more I think about this ride, the more happy I get. I can't remember the last time I was this excited for a ride. Yay Intamin!!! One of the most intense feelings on a ride to me is the first lift on a GIB and having all of your weight resting on that harness. Falcon's Fury is going to have that effect times a million!!
  19. I'm all for saving, too, but I'd never purchase something that clearly is not allowed to be re-sold. I have a better idea! Join Club TPR. You'll get legal discounts for parks all over the world, and you'll be supporting Robb and Elissa to keep the best forum on the interwebs running. /thread.
  20. As long as it doesn't have a B&M Wingrider type vest I'll be happy! I like the idea of having some non-tilt seats, too. I think both ways would be enjoyable.
  21. That looks terrifying!! It looks like a Florida trip will be in my future!
  22. The launches of TTD and KK are awesome, and both Skyrush and El Toro are INSANE!! I rode Skyrush a week after opening so the lift wasn't slowed down yet. Both are GREAT coasters! I haven't ridden I-305 yet- I'll hopefully make that trip in the next few years.
  23. Not if I'm wearing street clothes. Do you drive a hybrid?
  24. I've done Kings Island and Dollywood so far this year. I'll probably go to SFGAm, as I haven't been there in a couple years (despite the fact that it's my home park) so I can get credits for X Flight and namtaB, possibly CP later in the year, and I'm definitely going to Indiana Beach within the next few weeks!! Even though it's less than 2 hours away from me, I've never been there!! Pretty excited to check it out!
