  1. We ended up having a pretty decent (but cold) day at the park today for Physics day. In about 5 hours we managed to hit every major coaster with a few re-rides! Almost everything was running two trains pretty efficiently, with the exception being X Flight (it took 30 min to go up just the stairs, and the dispatch times were about 2 minutes per train). The Dark Knight also took surprisingly long at 25 min. American Eagle was still running only the red side, with no blue train in sight, so it'll be interesting to see if that changes. Around the park things are looking good with new paint jobs on some buildings/rides (to be expected) and the old igNight area is much more appealing and is cleaned up mostly. Some brief pictures.... The carousel looks very nice, it may be tough to tell from this angle though. A little closer look at the fresh paint. I'm assuming the flash pass area is freshly painted, but I'm not 100% positive. I didn't make it to the park last year, so I really don't know if this was there. Regardless, it's something kind of new. I was surprised at how nice this looks, I just wish there was something more to go in the middle. I'm not sure how much use it will get since there's no shade either, but its nice to have something there. Clearly it wasn't the best day in terms of weather. And you can see the open middle area as well. It may be hard to see in this picture, but Batman really does look good with its new paint. I also forgot how much kick this ride has. Even the Little Dipper and its area look great!
  2. As of now, Fire in the Hole at Silver Dollar City. But in 24 hours, hopefully it'll be Goliath at SFGAM.
  3. http://www.mtolympuspark.com/manticore Here goes Mt. Olympus again...my favorite line from this is "The Manticore can accommodate 24 guests and is themed" lol well I guess we'll have to see how well this gets operated and how well people respond to it. http://www.mtolympuspark.com/park-info/hours Also, I couldn't help but notice that they cut back their public hours to 10-7pm almost every day and have Night At the Park (for resort guests only) from 7-10pm most nights. Obviously they want us to stay in their hotels and pay more, which I'm not going to. It's not worth it IMO.
  4. SFGAM-I'm a huge fan of American Eagle. However, after I get on Goliath that weekend it may change though...who knows.
  5. I'll be at the park on Thursday for Physics Day, so it'll be interesting to see how the operations are. I'll hopefully post back with a few pictures to see how everything is shaping up for this season.
  6. Has anyone been to SFOT for Fright Fest recently? I went last Saturday and was a little disappointed afterwards. My home park is SFGAM, so I guess I was expecting more and better free scare zones? There were only a couple free scare zones, but each only had 2 or 3 actors it seemed. I didn't do anything extra because I didn't want to pay...but I just want to get the opinions of others here. I love the park and all, but it just wasn't as big as I was expecting.
  7. I can see what you're saying, but at the park today it looked really good to me. I'm excited to see it as it progresses.
  8. Just got back from physics day at the park today! I figure I should let you all know what's going on and how it was today, the first day for operations. Pros: almost all coasters (minus X-Flight and Am. Eagle) were running two trains with quick lines, the coasters felt normal, food tasted good, Goliath has good progress, Cons: Raging Bull and Am. Eagle both broke down around 1 and weren't open when we left at 3, some lines were slow because of new operators (to be expected), the IgNite stage was still set up (maybe for their new night parade?) which is an eyesore for that part of the park. I don't have much else to say, I really enjoyed the day at the park and was pretty impressed
  9. Here we go, here's a report as of a couple of hours ago. http://www.channel3000.com/news/faulty-lap-bar-being-blamed-for-man-falling-from-roller-coaster/25181978
  10. So it still doesn't look like any reports have been made? It wouldn't surprise me if they don't release anything about the accident publicly. Do we even know if the man is out of the hospital?
  11. Fire in the Hole at Silver Dollar City. I saw it on Coastercounter, so I had to get on it for the credit. We had no idea that it was a completely dark coaster, and then the splashdown at the end caught us all by surprise.
  12. I got on namtaB a couple times last summer at SFGAM and I found it a lot more forceful than it was when it was forward. It was almost uncomfortable at some points, but I still enjoyed it. Plus, it's a great way to add credits
  13. That's exactly right. The indoor waterpark is in a separate building next door, which is why it stayed open despite the incident
  14. I really hope he's alright, but it'll be interesting to see how this develops. And the fact that they use a picture of Hades in the article...
  15. We did something similar this summer. I would definitely recommend a day at Disney (I'm a Disney lover) and Magic Mountain. You'll get the magic of Disney, plus the thrills of Magic Mountain. We weren't too impressed with USH besides their studio tour and mummy, but if you like 3D attractions and shows then this might be for you. Unfortunately though, we haven't been to Knott's, so I can't say much about that. But Disney and SFMM, in my opinion, would be a great combination.
  16. Gotta go with airtime. 9/10 times a coaster without airtime isn't as enjoyable for me.
  17. I've only ridden X Flight but actually enjoyed it. I love how every seat provides a totally different experience, more than most "normal" coasters. I personally love the back because the forces are so much greater, but the front also gives a great feeling of flying and freedom. Could they be more intense? Maybe. But are they a good coaster for most parks? Totally.
  18. Whenever you drive you think to yourself "I could totally see a bunch of lift hills on top of that hill"
  19. I always loved them growing up, and supposedly I LOVED the wacky worms. But when I rode the Pepsi Ripsaw Coaster (now Orange Streak) at the Mall of America I became hooked! I found POVs and pictures online, and TPR was actually the first coaster site I found back in 2005. Ever since it's just gotten better. We go to parks whenever we can and love every second of it.
  20. California-Tatsu Florida-Montu Georgia-Goliath Illinois-American Eagle Missouri-Outlaw Run Minnesota-Renegade Ohio-Millenium Force Texas-New Texas Giant Wisconsin-Zippin Pippin
  21. So close, but I'd rather go to SoCal! There's just much more to do there outside of theme parks. However, if I could only do theme parks then it would be CF. SoCal has the beaches, mountains, and other cool places
  22. As a theme park lover, SF just doesn't work for me. But for the average person, six flags does a great job. The GP don't visit many parks to know different operating styles and atmosphere, so they think that SF is basically top of the line. For example, all my friends think that SFGam is an amazing park and is as good as coasters get because they haven't had the different exposure. However, I don't want to be too negative because without SF I couldn't get my coaster fill in!
  23. I'm a bit of a drop tower fanatic so I would like to see more with those. Maybe (if possible) a S&S Space Shot with a rotating tower? What if you could somehow be lying down and fall while staring straight at the ground? Yeah, these are all things that go through my head in school whether they're possible or not!
  24. In one day was probably Power Tower at Valleyfair. There were extremely short lines at the end of the day and my sister and I got probably 10 rides throughout the day. We also re-rode American Eagle 9 times in a row once on a rainy, empty day at the park and we never once had to get out
  25. SFGAM American Eagle! I can never get enough of it! I haven't ridden X Flight though so we'll see how that stacks up.
