  1. Those are incredible! They're pretty much all worthy of being computer wallpapers.
  2. What do you mean, that the slide is damaged now? It should be covered in snow, so my guess would be that nothing too bad happened. Never said it was damaged, for all we know it could have been a cheap plastic sled. But some people still prefer the old-styled sleds with metal runners, so the thought crossed my mind. But I'm sure if something was damaged, Mt. Olympus would fix it before next season, right? Right..? Lol I understand now. Suuuurrrreeee they will
  3. It's really unfortunate to hear, and our thoughts are with the family. I do imagine that people sneaking into the outdoor park is way more common than we realize. What do you mean, that the slide is damaged now? It should be covered in snow, so my guess would be that nothing too bad happened.
  4. Lol good question, this is an entertaining thread to read. I used to wear cargo shorts, but the last few years I've almost always worn jeans or long pants when going to parks, usually because it's cooler at night when I go. I pretty much always bring a zip-up fleece, with zipper pockets, and I've found that that's perfect for keeping my phone and other stuff in (even if it gets a little warm during the day).
  5. I flew through DFW today and was lucky enough to catch this view on the approach. It's a little tough to see, but you can see Titan, Judge Roy, and the Texas SkyScreamer pretty well. Kind of tough to see, but it was a good welcome to the city! Side note: it's been a while since I last posted, but I'm excited to get back at it now.
  6. Turns out some friends and I are in town for a conference, so we made a late decision to visit Disneyland on Friday! We're not doing DCA, and won't be able to get to the park until 1ish. Any suggestions for how to best tackle the day? I don't care what we do because I've been there a few times, but the others have never been to the park. Seeing Disneyland Forever is my biggest priority.
  7. Good for them! I'm really glad to see the success and growth of Fun Spot.
  8. This is the first summer that I have nothing planned for sure... DLR is 90% sure in May however! And then maybe a few trips to SFGAm.
  9. Instagram-For sure my most visited site, used for looking and posting frequently. Facebook-I go on it a lot, but almost never post or respond outside of groups. There's no need to be involved in political drama with people that I barely even know.
  10. The anticipation of a potential DLR trip in May gives me something to look forward to. I'll also be trying to get to SFOT at least once this winter, so hopefully it's not looking to be a really rough off season like it usually is in the north...
  11. I read them! There's usually at least one or two forums or reports that I visit because of it.
  12. I couldn't agree more as far as SFStl and MIA go. Those were the two that popped right into my mind when I saw the name of the thread.
  13. I agree, this park has enormous potential with its go-karts, coaster line up, and large Waterparks. This resort could be something really big for the Dells (and I think it is to a certain extent) but isn't quite where it could be. I don't think it will get there either if the same decisions keep beig made
  14. http://www.wkow.com/story/29514468/2015/07/09/snapped-cable-on-mount-olympus-amusement-ride-creates-close-call-for-two-riders-in-wisconsin-dells Wow, these guys are so fortunate to be safe. It could've been much worse than what it was. Snapped cable on Mt Olympus amusement ride creates close call for two riders in Wisconsin Dells Jul 09, 2015 8:30 PM EST By Gordon Severson Wisconsin Dells (WKOW)-- Two Wisconsin Dells visitors are feeling lucky to be alive after a cable on an amusement ride snapped just inches away from them. The incident happened Wednesday on "The Catapult" ride at Mt. Olympus in Wisconsin Dells. Owners shut down the ride after a cable came crashing down just seconds before two passengers were shot into the air. "I couldn't believe that just happened. I had to collect myself," Dru Larson says after capturing the incident on video. "What if it had been 30 inches closer to Trevor or what if they were shot up in the air? Things start going through your mind and most of them aren't good." Larson and his son Trevor were visiting from Tracy Minnesota before heading to a basketball tournament in Milwaukee. Trevor was riding with family friend Carrie Sueker when the accident happened. "There's a lot of what if, it could have hit us, could have hit our friends and family nearby," Sueker says. The ride was back open Thursday after Mt. Olympus owners say they replaced the cables on the ride. "When I found out about the situation I told them I don't want that ride operating again until all new cables are put on the ride," owner Nick Laskaris says. According to Laskaris the ride is actually owned by an independent contractor that also owns and operates one other ride at Mt. Olympus. Laskaris says the ride is owned by Dick Clark's Ultimate Rush and has been in the Wisconsin Dells for nearly two decades. "Been here in the Dells 20 years and from what I understand it's never happened before," Laskaris says. The owner of the company wasn't available for comment, but Mt. Olympus managers say they're working with him to insure the safety of guests. They originally opened the ride to patrons on Thursday, but later decided to shutdown the ride again until they can conduct a thorough investigation. The Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services tells 27 News an amusement company isn't required to report an incident unless someone is injured. However, officials say they will conduct an investigation if a patron submits a valid complaint. A little more than a year ago Mt. Olympus removed a different ride from their park after a man fell more than 15-feet. 63-year-old Anthony Theisen fell off the "Opa" Roller Coaster in March of 2014 and suffered serious injuries. State safety officials ruled a lap bar failed and that the park did not follow all maintenance recommended by the ride's maker.
  15. I've always loved Shivering Timbers, I can't get enough of the cathedral supports. Any huge wooden coaster is photogenic to me. Photo from TPR
  16. The majority of the Aqua Loops that I've been on have been intense, they can sometimes be rough on the back and pull a lot of G's through the loop.
  17. We were at a waterpark resort the last few days, and saw a good number of these sticks. The worst it got was when a group was using one in the super crowded wave pool, I was scared and wondering if someone was going to get hit by it in the chaos of the waves. I could imagine that hurting...I was actually expecting the lifeguards to say something, but they never did.
  18. Many people will rush to Goliath, but I would ask if there's a single rider line first. If that and Superman both have single rider lines then do them later in the day (whenever you want) and head right away to Raging Bull because that can get bad. In the park, Goliath, Superman, and Raging Bull will always have the longest lines and people always rush to one of those three. Bottom line: If it has a single rider line then skip it early and do it later. Hope that helps!
