I went on something similar to that a few years back at the Ontario Science Centre when they were doing an exhibit on thrill rides and roller coasters. They had this bike that was on a track that was a giant loop and you pedalled to go upside down. It was supposed to illustrate G-forces or soemthing like that. It was cool though. I also remember they had videos of roller coasters and all of my friends thought it was so cool. I on the other hand, had actually been on the rides they had shown (Loch Ness Monster, BGW).

What's your closest coaster?
mightypotato replied to FishyFish's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Its a toss up between Dragon Mountain at Marineland in Niagara Falls, ON or Top Gun at PCW. So, I get my choice of an Arrow multi-looper or a Vekoma SLC. Woot. -
Best American B&M Inverted coaster
mightypotato replied to pkdcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've been on Alpengeist, Montu, Raptor and Dueling Dragons. My favourite, by far is Alpengeist. It was my first coaster that went upside down when it opened in 1997 and I still love riding it whenever I go down to BGW. Simply awesome. -
Best B&M Standup
mightypotato replied to pkdcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My stand up coaster experience is limited to Mantis and a Togo Death Machine. I suppose Mantis would be my favourite, but anything is better than the Togo standups. I'm intrigued to see if Batman gets installed at SFDL in the coming years, so I can get another look at a standup. -
Strongest/Most forcefull Launch
mightypotato replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The only LIM launched coasters I've been on are Wicked Twister, Rock n' Roller Coaster (MGM) and The Italian Job (PCW). Out of the three, I'd have to say the most intense was Wicked Twister. That and I enjoyed it more than the others. As for launched in general, that award goes to Top Thrill Dragster. I've never experienced acceleration like that before. It was awesome. -
Rocket Coasters
mightypotato replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I guess that's the ideal situation. You'd get a huge rush from the launch and top hat like TTD or KK, then an awesome hyper coaster ride like Superman. I can't imagine that being anything but fun. That and Intamin can really do no wrong. Matt "Intamin Fanboy" Bryane -
On Ride Photos

Me on Top Thrill Dragster in the summer of 2005. I'm the one wearing the white rugby jersey. I've never heard my sister swear as much as she did when we were at the top of the top hat. Hilarious. Me on Top Thrill Dragster. I screamed like a little girl. -
I've been interested in roller coasters ever since my parents dragged me on Big Bad Wolf at BGW back in 1991. I used to go on them, but be extremely petrified of them at the same time. I got over that when I went on Alpengeist in 1997. When RCT came out, I was well on my way to being an enthusiast, it just sped up the process and let my twisted imagination run wild.

Maelstromâ„¢ Ride @ EPCOTâ„¢
mightypotato replied to Envy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Its like a story ride through Norwegian folklore than involves several water drops. Its definitely not a coaster though. Its a lot like Pirates of the Carribean in that sense. You're in a big boat and ride around on water. -
Maelstromâ„¢ Ride @ EPCOTâ„¢
mightypotato replied to Envy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I definitely remember that ride at EPCOT. Its not that exciting, but its always held a special place in my heart from the first time I went to Disney World. The only relatively interesting part of the ride is going backwards and thinking you're going to fall over the edge. -
Which coaster fits your personality?

I would probably be Mean Streak at Cedar Point. Abundant amounts of wood, rough and trimmed -
Alien Encounter @ WDW

They work alright. If it weren't for those, my sister would have been running around, trying to find an exit...lol -
Alien Encounter @ WDW
mightypotato replied to Envy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I remember going on Alien Encounter during its first season. I was so young and was absolutely terrified by that ride. However, I absolutely loved it. My sister on the other hand, completely freaked out. She almost managed to crawl under the restraints in an attempt to escape the ride. She won't even talk about going on the ride to this day. I'm saddened to hear that its gone. It was one awesome ride. -
They definitely need a new roller coaster. The last one they got was in 1999 when they put in Apollo's Chariot. In that time, they've eliminated 2 coasters, Drachen Fire and the Wilde Maus. I still love going down there, and would love to go this summer simply for Curse of DarKastle, but a coaster would make it that much better.

So, I just got the Soaked! expansion to Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. When I go to play it, everything works normally until I try and build anything involving water. As soon as I try to build something, the entire game freezes and I have to restart my computer. The regular RCT3 scenarios and rides work just fine as do most of the Soaked! rides. Its mainly a problem when I try to build swimming pools or water parks. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

The Super Bowl is one of those days where I curse being Canadian. As a Canadian, I don't get the American feed for the game, even though I was watching on ABC. Therefore, I do not get to watch the commercials. I only get to dream about them. It crushes me. It really does.

Walibi Belgium Discussion Thread
mightypotato replied to Dark Vampire's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That is just messed up. It looks like it would be a fun ride to go on, yet needlessly messed up. -
I don't really mind riding an SLC. Sure, when I walk into a park and see one, I give a bit of a disappointed sigh, but that's due to its "cookie-cutter" style. I've been on SLCs that aren't that rough and were quite enjoyable. I guess it all comes down to two things. 1. They're all the same (for the most part) 2. They've been stigmatized by carrying the Vekoma name

Intamin Accelerators
mightypotato replied to HCOSurfer90's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've only been on Top Thrill Dragster, so I can't really make a good comparison. However, from the POV that I've seen, I would have to say Stormrunner looks like it would be the best one out of the bunch.
