The Mega Dead Celebrity Thread
mightypotato replied to frozenflames's topic in Random, Random, Random
The Dave Brubeck news is extraordinarily sad. He was quite possibly my all time favourite musician. I'm very glad I had the opportunity to see him perform back in 2009. -
Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread
mightypotato replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I really don't see the park getting a coaster in 2014. Leviathan was a massive capital investment and probably the only major attraction we'll get for a while. I can see the park doing what they did after Behemoth was built. Focus on park improvements, family stuff and potentially a flat/water park addition. But hey...I would love to be wrong. -

The Most EXTREME rides in the world!
mightypotato replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The only two things I can think of around here are the CN TowerEdge Walk where you walk around the outside edge of the CN Tower and the Whirpool Jet Boats that take you barreling up the rapids of the Niagara River. Oddly, I've yet to do either... -
TPR 2013 Tours Announced!

I am unbelievably excited for the Texas trip. You guys look to have outdone yourselves yet again. -
Most Complicated Restraints
mightypotato replied to tribar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Vekoma Flying Dutchman restraints have always seemed overly elaborate to me. The weird two piece vest restraint, then the lapbar/legbar thing just confuse me. Fun rides though. -
Favorite Theme Park Game
mightypotato replied to wplover's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I generally don't play games when I visit parks. I will venture through the arcade and if they have any retro cabinets or something cool like X-Men, The Simpsons or any variation of the needlessly addicting Taiko Drum game I'll stop and play. -
Most people in Toronto last night were either at Grey Cup parties or at Metric at the ACC. However, I decided that is lame. Instead, I ventured with a few hundred other hardy souls to see GWAR. A GWAR show is one of those things that words cannot do justice. There are a lot of celebrities being killed in effigy and a lot of fake blood and other miscellaneous fluids being sprayed into the crowd. Seeing GWAR is always a fun, albeit messy and rowdy time. Oh yeah. The openers were Cancer Bats and Devildriver. They put on a great show. Next up is Eluveitie in December. This will be the sixth time I've seen them now. GWAR!

Why do you love TPR?
mightypotato replied to ambe_bambe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There's not really much to say that hasn't already been said. The people here are amazing, laid back and amusing. No one really takes this admittedly ridiculous hobby too seriously and knows how to have fun. -
Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss. I'm not quite sure how to feel about this, to be honest. I mean...he was only .500 in his first go around as manager. But...that was with a team assembled by JP Ricciardi. I'm a better GM that he was.

What was your first B&M Coaster?
mightypotato replied to thrillseeker4552's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My first B&M was Alpengeist way back in 1997. I was absolutely terrified going up the lift. But, once we hit the brake run, I wanted to ride it again. Thus, a coaster enthusiast is born. -

The "Pleasant/Unpleasant Surprise" Thread
mightypotato replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I should also add that Wooden Warrior at Quassy was a pleasant surprise. For being such a small ride, it packs one heck of a punch and has great moments of airtime. -
The "Pleasant/Unpleasant Surprise" Thread
mightypotato replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The entirety of Michigan's Adventure was a pleasant surprise for me this year. Everything was way better than I was expecting. The SLC was decent, the wild mouse was fun, Michigan Wolverine wasn't too rough and Shivering Timbers ruled. I was definitely going in with very low expectations, but ended up loving the place. -

To be fair, Roar is worse than Rolling Thunder. But, that's like Ebola being worse than the Plague. -
