Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread
Josh Linn replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Flyers load much slower than a B&M hyper, there is no comparison to be had there. My experience with floorless trains is fairly limited, but neither of the two that I've been on loaded anywhere near as fast as what I've seen done on a hyper. Again, my capacity theory could be wrong, I just don't see a flyer being the solution. Behemoth: 1,545 riders per hour Tatsu: 1,600 riders per hour Loading time may be longer, but capacity is as good or better. -
Behemoth & Leviathan

EDIT: Nevermind, they weren't built back to back. -

No. If capacity was the #1 concern they could've very easily went with a floorless or a flyer. I wasn't buying into the "this was meant for another park" line of thinking at first, but once the layout was released that almost seems like a given. Mega Python vs. Leviathanhawk? -

Seconded...I can only imagine how hard it was to resist the temptation of adding "hawk" to the end. Especially because Leviathanhawk sounds so incredible. -

Hmmm....while I'd like to believe this is one of the press materials, there just isn't anything about this image that screams OMFG to me like some of the I-305 concept images did. This looks more like something that someone threw together in No Limits, applied some photoshop filters to it, and then spread it around the internet saying it was "leaked." Perhaps if this is one of many images, but I can't imagine this would be "key art" for the ride. Thoughts? IMO it's a little premature to judge based off of that picture, as that likely shows just a fraction of the ride, but I also have doubts that it'll be anything earth shattering like I305...and I also agree that it'd be pointless to build something that even comes close to resembling Behemoth. I'm thinking something in the vein of Raging Bull/Fujiyama maybe? Not 100% different, but different enough. Regardless, it's nice to see B&M step outside of their comfort zone and try something they (alledgedly) claimed they would never do. -

Meh, this I don't like. I'm not a fan of the gimmicky type rides like that...I wish we'd just go back to the days of traditional coasters. Not saying gimmicky rides aren't fun, but it's just another sign that the best days of life are well behind me/us. -

DOUBLE RAINBOW OH MY GOD Nice TR though. Kinda surprising to me that the Denver area doesn't have a bigger/better amusement park. You'd think one of the few cities that has 4 pro sports franchises (5 if you count the Rapids) would. Not that the number of sports teams matters, but if an area can financially support that many sports teams there's surely a market that would support a major amusement park. It's a shame that Elitch's has next to no room for expansion, which probably explains why Six Flags never did much with it. -

My motion sickness has gotten near unbearable over time. I remember when I was 13 or 14 I was at Knoebel's on opening day and rode Twister 47 times and Phoenix 13 times on the same day and felt the same after lap 60 as I did before lap 1. Now I can maybe ride two or three coasters before feeling dizzy. Dramamine helps, but it knocks me out within an hour of taking it. -

Kinda sad that I live 15 minutes away and haven't been there in 2 years. Might have to change that after looking at this. -

I drove past it in May on the way to Florida and was surprised at how dead and barren it was. The last time I drove by (2003), it looked like there were signs of life at least. -

Disney's America is the only one not mentioned that I can think of. I also remember hearing back around '02 about an Intamin hyper that was rumored for CGA (Rebel Rocket or something), but I don't know if that was legit or not. -

I got to ride both Nitro and Apollo's Chariot within a week of each other in 2002 and preferred Apollo, but barely. Had the chance to ride Nitro again in 2008 and thought it was "meh". It wouldn't hurt to ride Apollo again to get a refresher, but it blows Nitro out of the water IMO.

Or it could be, you know, a real person. What other 200ft hypercoaster does Hersheypark have? I'm basing it off the whole "propulsion" stuff. -

I still don't see the point in building something nearly identical to one or two coasters already at the park, but whatever, I'm sure it'll be fun I guess. -

Hulk, although I haven't ridden either Dragon, HRRR, Spiderman, or Ripsaw Falls so my opinion doesn't count for nearly as much. -

Looks like they borrowed leftover Hydra paint from Dorney. Looks good, though.
