Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
Josh Linn replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Eh, screw it. I'll have enough time to get on Intimidator and that's all I really care about. It's a shame they wouldn't take my stupid debit card though, I really would've liked to get a ticket for $27. If anyone's in the park today get at me on Twitter @jjlinnjj or Facebook message me. -

I can't imagine it being crowded on a Monday, but what do I know. Also, does anyone know where to get discount tickets or coupons? I found tickets for $27.50, but KD's site wouldn't take my card, so I can't buy it. I'd hate to show up tomorrow and be SOL. -

I usually always go when it's forecasted for rain, because the parks empty and the rides are only closed for an hour or so, if closed at all. But I have a season pass and I'm not too far away. For a 5 hour drive, I'd wait until, say Wednesday, when it's sunny and forecasted in the mid 80s. Yeah...the thing with me is that I went to SFGAdv 2 years ago and they predicted rain and T-Storms, and not only did it not do either, but it was perfect out. I also figure that there is at least Flight of Fear to ride if it does rain or storm. TWC has it down for a 30% chance of precipitation, but I wasn't sure if any of the local weather stations had anything different. -

To anyone in the area that has access to the local weather reports, is it worth it to make a 5 hour drive there tomorrow? I see on the Weather Channel site they predict PM thunderstorms, but I've gone by them before and they've been completely wrong. -
Had Bradley not acted like an imbecile and started Ricardo Clark, he wouldn't have had to use a sub 30 minutes into the game, which would've given us a chance to put Edson Buddle or Herculez Gomez in the later stages. I was starting to come around on Bradley, but he needs to be relieved of his duties.

It's too bad Jolly Roger still doesn't have the shuttle loop they used to have.
-
It was a good run while it lasted...shame it had to end. Bradley is a moron for starting Clark and Findley though. Clark is the reason we went down 1-0 and Findley does not belong on this kind of stage. If Altidore keeps developing and the defense gets patched up by young guys, we'll be much improved come Brazil 2014. And, since both the US and Ivory Coast are out, go Holland.

Knoebels Discussion Thread
Josh Linn replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Due in large part to the fact that Knoebel's will (likely) never open Flying Turns. They sure don't seem to care too much either way. -
Durant will probably be the only guy they have that deserves/will get a max deal...Westbrook will make big money and Jeff Green won't be too far behind, but factor in their current cap situation and they should be set for awhile barring any idiotic moves.

It's looking like it's gonna be the Evil Empire Heat vs Lovable Small Market Thunder. They don't even need Bosh. Presti will keep them well supplied with talent to supplement Durrant Westbrook & Ibaka, which will obviously be the core. And with Bosh wanting to be the guy to be 'built' around, at least in 'free agent jargon', I'm not even sure Presti would want him. (a surprising comment from Bosh, someone who I always thought to be very down to earth and not egoish) Heat Vs Thunder.. A cliche rivalry ONLY Stern could think of. Sam Presti is GOD. Very surprised KP got fired in Portland. Talk about a tale of two GMs.. I doubt we pursue Bosh anyway, especially after tonight. They either drafted or traded for Cole Aldrich, Magnum Rolle, and some German dude, all big men. Aldrich is either going to be really good or really bad, and I don't know anything about Rolle or the German dude other than Rolle was highly touted in high school and transferred from LSU.
-
I hope Bosh goes to OKC, but they only have $12 million in cap. A lineup of: Westbrook Harden Durant Bosh Ibaka/Aldrich/Collison Would be insane. Either way, the Thunder are going to run the West...it's only a matter of when.
-
OCMD is that ish...it may not have as good of a coaster collection as other beaches, but the boardwalk and overall atmosphere is unmatched. I still have yet to get any of their credits, though.
-
And, while it's been overlooked, not even giving Dempsey a yellow at the beginning when he elbowed the Slovenian player was a really bad call. He's lucky he didn't get sent off.
-
The Lakers win again, FML. Hopefully Durant and OKC can make a run next year, but it's too bad they won't be doing it where they should be, and that's in Seattle. Talk about another joke of an owner, Clay Bennett is it.

Nash was signed before Sarver became majority owner, and this year he was doing everything he could to pawn off Amare Stoudemire.

I find it really hard to believe that Greece didn't get their first World Cup win until today. I also find it hard to believe that this team won Euro 2004.
-
No, but they should. It's borderline un-American.
-
It's wrong for people to not like sports? Wrong and completely incomprehensible.
-
I hate how people who hate sports are so disrespectful when it's actually them that are in the wrong for not liking sports to begin with. Anyway, Sarver is precisely why I'm no longer a Suns fan. He ruined any chance they had of winning a championship (they should have at least 1) because he was treating the team as an investment and could care less about results (Donald Sterling comes to mind). It's disgraceful how he's traded so many players and 1st rounders for cash, especially the Deng and Rondo picks. Their 04-05 team was amazing as constructed, but he blew it apart before they could even do anything together. I really hated dumping Q Richardson at the time. I had enough of that and moved on from the NBA altogether. Not only was my favorite team in shambles, but the league itself is corrupt.

Thunderhawk at Dorney Park. Had a chance to get Leap The Dips but it was closed the day I was there. -

No, because I care about my image. -
Personally, I love the sound. To me, it's the personification (more like soundification) of the term "buzz of excitement." To the players saying it's distracting: you are professional athletes, you need to be used to the sounds of crowds. To the fans whining: you're lucky enough to be at the World Cup, why not show some excitement like everyone else there and make some noise? I'm running a World Cup pool at work going by points. We each had to pick the top two teams in the group round and get 1 point for each correct team. In rest of the rounds, it will be picking the winner of each match. Point value will rise by one each round. The vuvuzelas are really annoying IMO. I appreciate the fact that it's part of South African culture, but it's annoying for the hundreds of millions of people watching and for the players. At first I didn't mind it, but after watching 9 of the 11 matches played it's gotten really old.
