  1. This. I really cannot stand roller coaster nerds anymore that feel the need to bitch and complain about the most minor petty things. 99.9% of the world will look at that video and be all "Awesome! Cool! Can't wait to ride." But the horrible coaster geeks who sit in their mothers basements getting so worked up over any little incorrect factoid that no one outside of their own little screwed up community will care about are going to complain and be horrible. Do I sit here and critique every single photo that someone posts in a trip report? Insult them for their work? No. I appreciate the effort being put into something. This video sold the ride just fine as to what it is. Anyone who is complaining about it, IMO, is just being a complete a$$hole and needs to go back home to mom. I was going to make a similar comment Robb but as usual you are on top of it and I could not have said it better. Some people need to grow up. Thanks for being honest, blunt and to the point.
  2. Thanks for the pics. Will have something to look forward to on my trip next year
  3. Great pics. I went to the amusement park many years ago after a trip to Cedar Point but when we got there it was pouring and lightning and thunder so we didn't even go in. After that the next time I went that way it was already closed. Sorry I missed it.
  4. Last time I checked I have a right to my opinion as do you and I voiced it. I never said I did not enjoy the technology, I did enjoy the ride on DDD but I prefer it without, which is my choice and to each his own. As I said, I will reserve my opinion on SHockwave and the rest of the VR rides when I ride them which will be later this year. I'm really looking forward to Superman in SFFT. I don't see anything in my post that mentions workers not moving in the hanger, in fact I never brought up the hanger. As far as the planes landing the wrong way, it would have been very simple to do it right. I am not the only one who has mentioned that in this forum. The whole reason for VR is to add realism to the ride experience so why not make it right when it would have been so easy to do so when the software was written. You need to concentrate on you having a good time on the rides and I will take care of myself.
  5. Although I haven't ridden this one I did do the Season Pass Holders preview on Dare Devil Dive at SFOG on the 12th and was in the first 20 to ride and still had just over an hour wait. The ride was fun but next time we go both my wife and I agree we will not do the VR again. I wish SF would be a little more careful about the content as first and foremost from what I have seen here is that Shockwave and Dare Devil Dive don't differ much as far as the video and both land on the carrier the wrong way. Also in this one they had Air Force personnel there because as it was stated that this was a fighter pilot video. Well the Air Force does not fly off carriers. Just a little nit picky and most riders who know nothing of the military will never know about those mistakes. I will reserve my opinion on this ride until I ride it later this year as I will all the VR coasters in the US. But after DDD at SFOG I would rather be able to enjoy the ride without the VR. I get more of a thrill without. VR is not a bad idea and was enjoyable but I like DDD better without. Just sayin.
  6. From what I understand, these will be secured and instructions given before u r able to get in line. Went to SFOG on Saturday and was the first one in the park. Wife and I went straight for DDD since we had season passes and this was the only reason we went on opening day. They advertised season pass holders only for DDD and they checked you twice before you actually got to the headset staging area which was actually the normal gate area. We were in the first 20 to ride and it was about an hour from the time we actually entered the que. You have a choice to use the VR or not and children under 13 cannot and if they are with parents who are they will ride on a different train. You do not get your headsets to put on and adjust nor any instruction until you get in the final que for the next train to be loaded. The process is very slow and from what I saw from the obvious non enthusiasts vs the experienced coaster riders is that they just don't have a clue. They don't listen nor do they really want to follow the direction of the employees. Of course I have seen many true enthusiasts do the same thing. This does nothing but add to the already slow operation. As for the ride, let's say it was fun and different. I enjoyed the ride but next time we go back I will opt out of the VR. My wife didn't lie it at all. I spoke with several enthusiasts who agreed that all though it was fun they would rather ride without. We personally love DDD and feel the VR detracts from what makes this ride great. I will end up riding most if not all the Six Flags VR Coasters sometime this year at least once. I will reserve my judgement for the VR as a whole until then.
  7. This is for anyone. We had some friends who just came back from WDW and they said they were told that this year would be the last year for the Christmas lights at WDW, They were being discontinued. Anybody know anything about that?
  8. Thanks for the great pics. We are in Gatlinburg right now but plan on spending Christmas in Orlando and never miss the SeaWorld Christmas shows. Looks like they have added some things since at year.
  9. Have to agree with all the good things said about Holiday World. Went there in May for "HoliWood Nights". My first trip there and was really impressed with the park and its employees. Free parking and your drinks included with admission was a plus. Thunderbird was a great winged coaster. Still like Gatekeeper the best but Thunderbird a close 2nd, Rode every seat at least once and some twice. The wooden coasters are good coasters but rough is being really nice. You might want to have a Chiropractor on standby. Next trip is WCB.
  10. Just wish they could wait till after West Coast Coaster Bash to close it down
  11. Mine started 05/14/2015. Started off from home in Pensacola Florida. Drove to Charlotte NC. May 15th I was at Carowinds when the park opened. Spent the day riding all the coasters then drove to Richmond VA. May 16th, opened Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Then back to the hotel in Richmond. May 17th, opened Kings Dominion. Rode all the coasters then headed north to Six Flags America. Rode all their coasters then off to Philly. May 18 thru 21 spent time with my Marine son and family. May 22 took my 10 yr old grandson to Dorney Park for his birthday. We rode all the coasters. May 23 took the grandson, granddaughter and daughter in law to Six Flags Great Adventure. We had a great time. Now back to my rode trip. May 24 opened Hershey Park, first ride was Skylift, what a way to start a great day. May 25 opened Kennywood, my first time at this park. May 26 opened Kings Island. Long day with lots of rides. May 28th opened Kentucky Kingdom. No crowds no waiting in line so a short day with lots of rides. May 29 arrived at Holiday World for the start of Holiwood Nights. Had some great rides, good food, unsurpassed hospitality by the park staff. Then some fantastic rides on every seat on Thunderbird. Event ended at midnight and then back on the rode to Pensacola. Put just under 4000 miles on my brand new ride. 16 days, 11 parks.
  12. it's amazing that Carowinds is a Cedar Fair Park. They certainly do not do things the same as the other Cedar Fair Parks relative to Media Day events like Banshee at Kings Island and Gatekeeper at Cedar Point. They sure dropped the ball on this one by snubbing the majority of the members of all the coaster clubs
  13. Looks like a fun time. Vicky and I may have to try it next trip to Seaworld
  14. 1. Do you have your videos set to auto-play on your: a. desktop computer 2. Do you regularly "share" content from Facebook "page" (like the TPR page) to your own personal Facebook page? And have you shared something from the TPR page? YES 3. What kind of content are you most likely to share? Videos 4. How long on average do you watch a video posted to Facebook for? the entire video 5. How important are "video thumbnails" to you? (the image you see with the > Play icon before you click to watch a video) VERY IMPORTANT 6. What do you like/dislike about Facebook? THE JURY IS STILL OUT What features do you use the most(SHARING CONTENT) and which ones annoy you? ADS 7. Is there anything that TPR does or doesn't do on Facebook that you think we should be doing more/less of? CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING
  15. I never would buy the pass because I did not want to pay the price and we usually went to the parks at a time when attendance was low so we really didn't need one. But after media day for Banshee last year I stayed for opening day and saw the need to get one if I planned on riding everything. Now if its a crowded day I will buy them
  16. Smokey Mountain Coasterfest Dollywood then Seaworld Orlando all in the same week
