  1. Gwazi is only 19 years old. Colossus was 36 years old when it got RMC'd and it sit in basically the same kind of heat. Everything that was stripped from Gwazi is not needed if RMC comes in and does their magic.
  2. There are wait times posted in front of all the major rides. They have a quick queue add if you want. Quick queue unlimited if you want a lot of re-rides. You should be able to ride every ride without quick queue though. Just keep in mind this park is huge, and if you plan to do more than ride rides, like see animals and stuff, which you should do, then get a game plan...This park is hard to walk twice around in a day and do everything. Always ride Cheetah Hunt first...It always carries the longest wait. Cobra's Curse is definitely worth the ride...It's a fun coaster! Ride it next. Montu after that, never much of a wait there. I would also suggest Falcon's Fury, Scorpion, Kumba and Sheikra.
  3. Hi, author of the article here. I'm sorry you interpreted the article that way, it's not at all meant to shit on the park. Those who know me are aware of just how passionate I am about BGT, spending the last five years covering everything at the park big and small. I don't discount that Vanish Point at Adventure Island is a great addition there, but it's not at BGT proper, that's all. Glad to hear that you're passionate about BGT. I am too. It's one of my favorite parks and I am an avid SeaWorld supporter. It just gets me down because there is so much negative media attention on the parks that it just cements the idea into people's heads. I will say the article was well written, but I just felt towards the end, it kind of put a little negative spin on the park. A lot of parks around the world take breaks from adding to their main park to give attention to their water park. BGT did just that. Hell, SeaWorld Orlando did both parks this year. I am glad for the news that a new addition is coming in 2019...it gets me excited. Thanks for sharing the word!
  4. I hate how that article just shits on BGT. The water park did add a water slide this year. That counts as an addition, right? Adding a major coaster and a water slide in the last three years seems pretty good to me along with adding another attraction next year...Hell, can't SeaWorld parks get any credit in the media? It just pisses me off. Sorry for the rant. Anyways, please be a RMC Gwazi addition...Please! I would be fine with the skyrocket II, but I think that would fit the San Antonio SeaWorld better if there has to be three of those in SeaWorld parks. A RMC Gwazi would definitely give BGT some positive media news...Hopefully. And if it turns out to be a RMC Gwazi addition...Then the answer is yes to this comment. (Referencing a comment from another post in another thread regarding Gwazi) "You need to let the ride age for 3 seasons and not touch it before you can begin work on it. It's like fine wine, apparently."
  5. I've rode my share of SLC's, but nothing is worse than Kong at SFDK. T3 is bad, but not that bad. And truth be told, Kong wasn't that great either when it was new at Opryland as Hangman. There's no such thing as a good SLC.
  6. I am a fellow cheap ass. I like to stay in nice hotels, but I shop like crazy online to get the best deals I can find. I use Hotels.com the most and now am a gold member so I get huge discounts and free nights through them. I also hate to fly cause it costs too much. I have a rule, if I can get there in less than 15 hours driving...I'll drive. But if I do fly, I also shop like crazy to find the best deals I can find online. I flew my wife and I to Cancun and back home for $600 total last month...I thought that was pretty reasonable. Traveling is the way I find to save money the most. I always drive over night and party during the day. Less traffic, means less gas...Also people in the car are usually asleep and not asking for food...So less money spent there too. So it's nothing for me to drive 12 hours and then spend another 12 hours at a park...Just get some good sleep before you start the journey and buy a six pack of 5 hour energy too. Back in February, I went nearly 48 hours without sleep driving to Daytona Beach and then to SeaWorld. I just got my sleep on the beach. Squeeze as much as you can into a 3 day weekend and you'll have a hell of a trip. Of course you'll be dead when you get home, but that's my system. Another thing is always buy annual passes...A small dollar amount each month is so much better than forking over tons of cash when you get ready to visit the park. I think I pay $3.50 a month for my Six Flags pass...And the only way to get one that cheap is cancel after your 12 month agreement is up. They'll ask you twice to keep it and offering a discount each time...But the third time is their last offer. Take that one! I wish other parks did this, but currently Six Flags is the only chain that begs you to stay. Lastly, one of my biggest secrets is Ticketsatwork.com ... I love my job for this...It gives me discounts on tickets to just about anything world wide...Parks, Shows, Events, Car Rentals, Hotels, Flights, etc...Just about anything. It helps! I used the hell out of ticketsatwork.com when I last visited New York City. Ask if your employer offers this benefit...And if they don't...Ask them why the hell not?!
  7. The only rides that carry lines at SeaWorld is Journey to Atlantis and Empire of the Penguin. The coasters are mostly walk ons. I visited this past weekend and Quick Queue was not needed. I've never needed it when visiting SeaWorld. The shows will be full, so always get there early for a decent seat. VR was not on Kraken and it doesn't look like it's going to return anytime soon.
  8. All the wait times are posted outside all the major rides. Always hit Cheetah Hunt first because it always carries the longest line. I always make it my last ride of the night too because of the wait (If you want 2 rides). This weekend it'll have over an hour wait or longer all day long...So get there first if you don't want to wait (And ride the front row). Cobra's Curse should be your next ride as it's right around the corner from Cheetah Hunt and if you get there at rope drop, then you'll beat the crowds to this coaster and won't wait long. Then ride Montu...You may wait 5 min for this ride or it may be a complete walk on. From there, walk back to the front gate and keep walking over where Gwazi is and see the Kangaroos on your way to Sheikra. If you're into kiddie credits, hop on Air Grover along the way. By the time you get to Sheikra, you may have a little wait, but not too long. Ride it and then take a break and eat at Zambia Smokehouse and get some cool pics of Sheikra while you're there. Let your food settle, ride the train there at Stanleyville around the park or ride Stanley Falls. If you ride the train, get off at the Congo Station and ride Kumba there in the Congo. See the Orangutans and Tigers there also. See the Opening Night Critters show at Pantopia, and ride Falcon's Fury. Get a pretzel and either wait for Sand Serpent and Scorpion or bypass them and ride them later after visiting Edge of Africa and the Myombe Reserve. Might as well watch Turn it Up too, it's a great show. By that time it'll be time to get another ride on Montu before getting that last ride on Cheetah Hunt in. This was my path this past weekend when I visited BGT. I had a great time. I would recommend this path to anyone. Just know, the park is massive. It's very hard to walk this park twice.
  9. I was at the park this past weekend and the Serengeti Overlook upstairs buffet was closed all weekend long. The Pub downstairs was open but upstairs was roped off. Not sure if this is another cutback or not. It was open when I visited last month in Feb. For the deal, it's the best option when eating at BGT. I like the Zambia Smokehouse...But be prepared to spend about $25 a person. If you do that, you might as well go ahead and get the all day dining meal for $35 and be able to eat all day long.
  10. How can you feel let down when you haven't even rode the ride yet or even seen it in person?
  11. That station is beyond epic! Can't wait to visit this park for the first time this year and ride this, plus Outlaw Run.
  12. WOW!That was an incredible experience seeing this. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. Being a huge Pixar fan, I'm so glad Disney is doing more with Pixar in the parks. It's going to be amazing!
  13. I've stayed in that Super 8 2 times and no more. Now we just stay at the Microtel or Baymont over by The Beach Waterpark. Kings Island has so much land, seems like they would be a good candidate next to get an onsite hotel like Carowinds and Canada's Wonderland are getting.
  14. If Dollywood has 100 more acres to develop, they should open another gated park. They keep mentioning how they want to compete with Disney...It would only make sense to create another park behind Dollywood. I do think Dollywood needs to expand Thunderhead Gap...And if this new 5 acre expansion could create a new alternative pathway to the front of the park, that would be a good thing.
  15. Opryland. I'm only an hour from Nashville...I would love for them to open the park again and tear down that stupid mall. It was a horrible mistake!
  16. So far in 2018 1) Mako - SeaWorld Orlando 2) Mine Blower/Rockstar - Fun Spot Kissimmee 3) Cobra's Curse - Busch Gardens Tampa 4) Rollin' Thunder/Crazy Mouse/Southern Express - OWA 5) Boardwalk Bullet - Kemah Boardwalk 6) Switchback - ZDT's 7) Wavebreaker/Great White - SeaWorld San Antonio
  17. Kind of figured this would happen now that China's Zhonghong Zhuoye Group Co. acquired a 21 percent stake in SeaWorld Entertainment Inc and is now the largest shareholder. Reilly will probably be there long enough until the Chinese firm puts one of their own in charge. Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. But seriously, I don't care who's in charge, I just want the company to rebound...Hopefully all this is a good thing.
  18. I don't eat chicken so chick fil a doesn't concern me. But what does concern me is what they plan to do with that empty space by Wicked Twister. Just a guess...But I'm gonna say a new coaster in 2020. Wicked Twister will probably head to CGA and Cedar Point will install a RMC TRex there. They'll have four entrances with a coaster at every one. This is just a fun guess...I have absolutely no idea...But it's fun to think about.
  19. Wasn't really arguing. Just discussing really. A lot of good points. And flat earth people are dumb for the record.
  20. Any bets on how long the longest wait will be for Steel Vengeance on opening day? I'm thinking 5 - 6 hours max. I plan on going Memorial Day weekend...And FL+ will be my friend.
  21. "So, I'm not a believer of people who say attractions are being shut down for cost cutting measures."
  22. You have a good point. But what about the new additions? - Mako - Cobra's Curse - Electric Eel - Wavebreaker - InvadR Hell, they're even giving Sesame Place a new coaster. I think we should give SeaWorld more credit. I think getting old attractions shut down is sad...But they're still adding new stuff. I think people focus so much on the negative about SeaWorld and forget about all the positive. And I like Blue Horizons replacement!
