it gets hot and humid, that's why you'll see a lot of giant interconnecting malls / indoor theme parks, not just in China, but across Asia. -

Don't think this has been posted on here, but the park is looking to build a resort that will include up to 1000 rooms in themed areas. One idea is to build a pirate village. Djurs Sommerland will also add a new family ride next year, which will be announced at some point in November. -

Tivoli Gardens have announced their new ride for 2016: Tivoli Gardens The press mentions make the thrill ride sound like a frisbee-style ride, but they haven't released a rendering yet. It just says riders will sit in a circle with their backs against the centre and experience 2.5G while swinging over the edge of the tower. The ride has a combined budget of 50 million DKK and will open April 5th, 2016. -

Djurs have announced that they will be building a new viking themed area of the park! Thor's Hammer will be integrated into the new area and they will also be opening a new viking ship ride on the lake. (From the quote in the article, this seems to be a pretty standard swinging ship style ride on a platform) "The Vikings Are Coming! There is already Pirateland, Mexicoland, Africaland, Waterland, Westernland, Summerland and Liliputland - and now a new area will be added to Djurs Sommerland. Today, Djurs Sommerland can announce the new attraction for 2014. The park will expand with a new Vikingland area taking up 20,000 square meters. The largest attraction in Vikingland will be Drageskibet (The Dragonship) which will be a 13 meter long vikingship in the middle of a 9000 square meter lake, decorate with carved dragon heads, viking sails and colourful shields. - "An attraction like Drageskibet is a really fun experience that will give you a great amount of thrills. It's a really popular classic attraction in all the large theme parks abroad, and I'm sure it will also provide our guests with lots of joy and laughter. When Drageskibet simultaneously is placed on a lake in a large viking themed area, the experience is complete. I am sure that we will attract lots of new families with children to the park in 2014" says Henrik B. Nielsen, CEO of Djurs Sommerland. The existing rollercoaster Thors Hammer will be integrated into the new Vikingland. The new area will be ready for visitors when the park opens on the 10th of May 2014." http://www.tv2oj.dk/artikel/190404:Syddjurs--Nu-kommer-vikingerne UPDATE: Djurs have now announced on their Facebook page that they will also be adding another new ride called The Viking Tower. From the description it sounds like a kiddie Heege tower ride. -
Allure of the Seas is to undergo a week of repairs due to problems with one of the three engines onboard: Royal Caribbean announces Allure of the Seas will undergo repairs in February 2014 MIAMI - Royal Caribbean International announced that a mechanical issue has made it necessary to perform unscheduled repairs to Allure of the Seas. The repairs will take place at Grand Bahama Shipyard, in Freeport, Bahamas, the week of February 24, 2014. As a result, it will be necessary to cancel the February 23, 2014, sailing of Allure of the Seas. "We sincerely regret that we will be unable to deliver the Royal Caribbean cruise vacation that our guests were looking forward to," said Adam Goldstein, president and chief executive officer, Royal Caribbean International. "We understand that our guests' vacation time is very precious and can assure you that we did not take this decision lightly. But it was very important to us that we bring Allure back up to speed so that she could continue to deliver the amazing cruise vacations our guests expect." Allure of the Seas has been experiencing unanticipated bearing wear in one of its three propulsion motors. All three motors are fully operational, and there is no impact on the maneuverability of the ship or on the safety of guests and crew. However, since the rate of bearing wear is directly related to ship speed, the ship's top speed has been limited. This has reduced the rate of bearing wear, and will ensure that all three propulsion motors are fully available for maneuvering and emergencies until repairs can be completed. "While Allure could have continued to sail at a reduced rate of speed, we felt it was important to fix the problem as soon as possible," said William D. Baumgartner, senior vice president of Marine Operations, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. "We explored numerous repair options. Unfortunately, there was no satisfactory solution that did not involve taking the ship temporarily out of service." The company said guests currently booked on the February 23, 2014, sailing of Allure of the Seas will receive a full, 100 percent refund, or the option to sail on select itineraries at the same rate. Additionally, until the repairs can be made, it will be necessary to make minor adjustments to Allure of the Seas' eastern Caribbean itineraries. Allure of the Seas will now call on Nassau, Bahamas, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and on Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There is no need to modify Allure of the Seas' western Caribbean itineraries. - See more at: http://www.traveldailynews.com/news/article/57710/royal-caribbean-announces-allure-of#sthash.7wLZZQXV.dpuf

Another update on the new hotel expansion, including an image of the proposed design: The business-themed hotel has been designed by Kim Utzon, the son of legendary Jørn Utzon, the architect who designed the Sydney Opera House (Photo: Tivoli) The news comes just a couple of months after the City Council rejected the amusement park's proposal for a 8,500 sqm glass-fronted hotel, restaurant and shopping complex, and on the heels of Tivoli's announcement that its 100-year-old rollercoaster would be restored to its original appearance. http://cphpost.dk/local/tivoli-add-final-piece-hotel-complex -

In other news, Tivoli are also building a new 12 story hotel to open in 2016. http://ekstrabladet.dk/nyheder/samfund/article2149314.ece My best attempt at a translation: Copenhagen will get a new 12 story hotel in 2016. Tivoli and the Arp-Hansen Hotel Group have joined forces to build a new hotel next to the existing Tivoli Hotel on Kalvebod Brygge in Copenhagen. The hotel, which will have 288 rooms and 25 meeting- and conference rooms, will cost a 10 digit amount (DKK), according to the construction firm. The building will be designed by Kim Utzon. Tivoli's CEO, Lars Liebst, says that Tivoli have been working towards expanding the business travel market and the new hotel will help boost this effort. "A Tivoli Hotel which is family friendly, while still appealing to the business market is in line with our strategy to make Tivoli a year-round operation" says Lars Liebst about the new hotel. At Wonderful Copenhagen, they say that it is important for Copenhagen to constantly innovate in order to compete internationally: "Despite the global financial crisis, we've seen a strong growth in the number of hotel stays in Copenhagen in recent years" says Lars Bernhard Jørgensen, director of Wonderful Copenhagen. "Tivoli and Arp-Hansen's partnership and their hotel project strengthens the tourism and conference offering in city centre, and the investment is in line with Wonderful Copenhagen's growth strategy for the coming years" he says. Dorte Krak, director of Arp-Hansen Hotel Group advises that they are now in the process of finalising details of the development. The total hotel capacity for Tivoli Hotel & Congress Center including the new hotel will be 700 rooms and meeting facilities that can house 6000 guests. Tivoli opened their first hotel in 2010. Tivoli oand Arp-Hansen Hotel Group forged a strategic partnership in 2008 to develop Arp-Hansen Hotel Group's Tivoli Hotel. -
