  1. Great Adventure used to also have a McDonald's inside the park (which I worked at for two years), but we closed that location after the 2003 season.
  2. This is an AWESOME deal. It's a shame my Midwest trip was that time last year instead of this year, otherwise I'd be all over this. Anyone with the means to do this and is on the fence needs to take the plunge and sign up!
  3. Valentine's Day could work. Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't the longstanding rumor been that St Patrick's Day may be the next themed section? The beer gardens alone... *drool*.
  4. Screw that noise, I want my Arbor Day section!
  5. ^ Shhhh, don't give them any ideas! As much as I also may think the new banner ad on El Toro is gaudy, the placement makes perfect sense. They're getting ready to open up Zumanjaro soon, and what's the main thing everyone's going to be looking at from that queue? El Toro. The amusement park fan says no, but the businessman / capitalist in me says "Oooh, what a great idea!".
  6. I experienced the notorious "C-Train Rattle" on Nitro for the first time yesterday. I've always shrugged off notions that the train could be that bad because I've never experienced a rattling in all of my trips to the park. But yesterday, in the back row, it was noticeable enough for me to think WTF. It mentally clicked in midway through the course and sure enough, when I looked down while sitting on the break run, the big "C" was there. It was bad, too, man! The back-jarring between two of the hills was strong enough to illicit memories of Rolling Thunder. It felt better after the mid-course breaks, though.
  7. I've always envisioned something like Firechase Express for Holiday World (with different themeing, of course). It's got the perfect balance of thrills and innovation while still remaining family-friendly and accessible to as many as possible. I think this is certainly more realistic than any B&M / RMC talk.
  8. ^ Nope, I noticed it, too. I've ridden it several times this year so far, mostly later in the day after it's "warmed up". The litmus test for me is the hill that used to cross over Rolling Thunder. It no longer gives me OMFG AIRTIME moments like it did in the past. Don't get me wrong, El Toro is still an airtime machine and the best coaster in the park, but it's definitely been slowed down a little bit.
  9. I'm sorry I didn't take any pictures of it yesterday while I was in the park, but it's clear why they need to delay things - there is still a LOT of lanscaping / queue work left to be done for Zumanjaro. There's been some progress since a couple weeks ago, including the construction of some shade structures / buildings down by the ride itself, but they still seem to be in the early stages.
  10. Not counting the ones at SFGAdv, not that many - only ones stemming from my first big trip last year: - Boomerang, SFStL (*sigh*) - Hyena Falls, HW - Gatekeeper, CP
  11. I actually maintain my own, as well. The only additional item I track is wood / steel.
  12. How much do the re-designed restraints on Banshee factor into everyone's ranking decisions?
  13. ^ To be fair, Laser was gone years before Stinger came to Dorney (2008 / 2012). Comparing Possessed's maintenance record with Laser would be a lot fairer since that's the coaster that directly replaced it at the park.
  14. I love to ride the Monster, but I won't do it unless there is absolutely no wait or there are two crew members working it. Otherwise, it can be excruciating.
  15. ^^ I first visited WDW in the late 80's when I was a little kid (5-6 yrs). I have a distinct memory of my mom and dad taking me and my younger sister on the old Snow White ride, saying it be fun. I don't remember much of the ride, but I DO remember how long it took for my parents to calm us down afterwards, lol. Good riddance to that ride, this looks like a much better addition to the park. Can't wait to get back down there again soon!
  16. I'm sure I'll be at SFGAdv a bunch of times over the next two months, but my next new parks will be Lake Compounce and SFNE in late June. Excited for Boulder Dash and Bizarro!
  17. I visited KI for the first time last summer on a hot overcast day. Lines were a bit long, especially for Beast, so I didn't go ride it until after night had fallen. By the time it was my turn to ride, fog started to settle and it had started misting. As a result of this perfect set of circumstances, I ended up having that "religious experience" people talk about for my first ride. That particular ride on Beast was a highlight of the trip, and that includes visits to Hersheypark, Kennywood, Cedar Point, Holiday World, SFStL, and SFGAm. We went back the next day for a few hours before we left for Indiana and got one more ride on it during the day. THIS ride was one more like what Guy was talking about. For some reason I really noticed the trim brakes a lot more the second time, and it definitely brought the coaster back down to Earth for me. I still enjoyed it, but I wish I had left it at just the one ride at night.
  18. Coasters After Dark will be from 6:00PM to 9:00PM this Friday.
  19. Yea, I agree. There are certainly still areas that need significant improvement, but overall, SFGAdv has been trending upwards. Any word yet on the upcoming Coasters After Dark? It's been advertised for 4/25, but I can't find any announced hours yet.
  20. I agree, JJ > FoF. This summer, I was disappointed to find out KI's FoF does the same thing with its MCBR. Seems to be a Cedar Fair thing. Anyone know if Poltergeist at SFFT operates similarly to JJ?
  21. I was a bit surprised myself, I had a feeling it was going to look a lot emptier than it does. I have a strong feeling they're going to be using this queue for something in the near future. Maybe not as soon as next year, but we'll see.
  22. The people over at GreatAdventureHistory.com just did a walkthrough of the park this past weekend. Highlights include several shots of a Rolling Thunder-less Plaza del Carnival. http://www.greatadventurehistory.com/GATrips_Winter_2014_02_19.htm
  23. I recently got the 30 donuts Mystery Box, too! Gave me more faith in the prizes and tolerance for the abundance of benches and parking spots that litter my inventory.
