Happy Valley Chongqing Goes Vertical

Is it just me, or does it look like that Ferris wheel is halfway on its way to toppling over? -
Knoebel's makes you feel like you've transported back in time to the way a local amusement park operated in the 1960s. The food is fantastic, the rides are impeccably maintained and each turned up to 11, all set in a neon paradise. It's hard to explain the feeling you get until you visit it for yourself. It's not the amusement park we need, but the one we deserve.

Favorite attraction never made?
michaellynn4 replied to Themonerd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Besides the maintenance costs, the reason so many of the rides in the past felt so wild and out-of-control is because they were basically engineered on site through a lot of trial and error. Builders at the time didn't have the sophisticated programs their contemporaries do. They didn't know how their coasters would ride until they actually tested them after construction. That's how you got some insane rides in the past, too, like the Travers coasters notorious for nurses in stations and people flying off the coaster. It's not really a matter of people being too soft nowadays, it's because it literally used to just throw s**t at the wall to see what stuck. -
M&D Scotland's Tsunami derails

I'm sure being in the vicinity of a terrible accident like that will have a traumatic effect on a person, too. This wasn't something simple like getting stopped on a lift hill or a smaller accident like a wheel coming off or a "Son of Beast" structure thing: Honestly, even if I wasn't directly involved, I don't know how I'd react seeing something like that firsthand, even being as big of a coaster nut as I am. Unless I know what it's like to see something like that, i don't feel I should judge whether their reaction is appropriate or not. -

Gröna Lund Discussion Thread

Gröna Lund really seems to want to drive the "limited space for expansion" argument into submission once and for all. -
Those lines are designed for ride ops to quickly pull people in to fill up the gaps as needed at that specific moment, whether it's one or two single riders at a time. Even if you are willing to let others go ahead of you, waiting in that manner defeats the purpose for the line. Plus, you're still adding an extra wrinkle to the ride ops' job, which ultimately does affect the rider throughput. Odds are they're not going to allow you to wait anyway. As long as you accept the risk that you guys can possibly get split up in the process, it shouldn't be an issue.

Harry over at GAH just pointed out something interesting on the park map on the Six Flags app. It depicts a pathway connecting Plaza del Carnival behind the bathroom with the bottom portion of the Golden Kingdom: Keep in mind this isn't the 2017 map as JL:BFM is not depicted on it. However, it's not on the official 2016 park map. I didn't use the app much this year so I don't know if this was always there or if it's in fact a new development. Anyone on here able to provide more insight?

No sweat. *thumbs up* Why don't we get back on track? Food FTW!!! I've only had Pink's at Lake Compounce, but I enjoyed it. I'm a sucker for a good chili dog. -
Unfortunately, I have to watch all the links to make sure they are not in bad taste, and my first thought was of America's Funniest Home Video. I had to watch it a few times, the abrupt end just made me chuckle over and over, even though I know its not that funny. Just glad no one was seriously hurt. Usually knowing the aftermath helps me decide whether or not I'll watch something. For example, I don't mind watching this video because I know that no serious injuries came of it, but I could only watch the videos of the Chinese Top Spin accident and Indian Disk-O accident once because I knew people died as a result. Once was by far enough, especially that Disk-O one.

Thank you for your contribution, storms... as usual. I cant tell if thats sarcasm or not... Yes, it is. I know you have social anxiety and all, so here it is nicely: this isn't really the place for nutjob conspiracy theories. It's not true.
