  1. At my last Flyers game, a 24oz beer was $14.50, so no, I'd say $12.99 is actually pretty reasonable.
  2. Lines are pretty crazy right now. Long lines for even some of the flat rides. At this point we're just kind of just walking around, gonna give Nitro a shot. EDIT: Brother and I spent a few hours in the park this afternoon. A few random thoughts: Guest services were very professional and helpful when it appeared I was having serious issues with my season pass, and were also very nice and understanding when it turned out I'm just a friggin' idiot and was using an outdated pass I forgot I never took out of my wallet at the end of last year. Glad they reconfigured the Joker's queue under the tent. The cut-through makes it so much easier to walk through it versus the forced-path method from last year. Don't know why they just didn't have that to begin with. Are those new lights on the center of the Teacups? It was lit up with blue and white lights. I can't remember ever seeing them before, but it looked really good. Some of the new games they had looked interesting, especially that giant "soccer darts" one. I also really liked seeing the new water bottle flip game - as stupid as I think that trend is, it's brilliant that they took advantage of its popularity and made a boardwalk game out of it. Bizarro's crew easily the best I've ever seen it. Between creating a sense of urgency on the mic ("Once the gates open, you have three seconds to board the train", "Train must dispatch in 45 seconds, please hurry hurry hurry to your seat", etc), train-checkers hustling through each row, and literally running to their dispatch stations once the train was checked, pretty much each train was getting sent from the station while the previous train was crossing the mid-course brakes, something I haven't seen in years. Seriously impressive. Food service is still pretty slow - took us twenty minutes to get a cheesesteak from the new location on Boardwalk with only two guests in front of us. However, it was actually pretty good. Could've used some more meat IMO, but the bread was soft yet sturdy, peppers and onions cooked well, and meat was properly seasoned. For a theme park meal, you could do a lot worse.
  3. Any chance you could request Hall and Oates to play "Private Eyes" on the next lap? Priiiiiivate eyes (*clap*) are waaaatching you! (*clap clap*)
  4. It's nothing but a continuous loop of "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley on a giant screen.
  5. I will admit, the coaster looks like a lot of fun! Maybe I'll make it back out there at some point. #F**kTheShed
  6. I can't wait until tomorrow to see the new hashtag #WhatShouldveBeenInTheShed from disappointed coaster nerds.
  7. ^ Ditto. My #100 was Flying Ace Aerial Chase @ KI, #150 was Great Chase @ SFNE, and #200 was Black Diamond @ Knoebels. It's already nerdy enough that I'm still friggin' counting, so I wouldn't go so far out of my way and purposefully skip coasters just so a particular one lines up with a "milestone" number. Just go with the flow and have fun!
  8. ^I don't see why it wouldn't be closed. Staying open on Sunday would go against one of the company's core values.
  9. This thing is growing more peculiar by the day...
  10. I'm not sure what the one at Kings Island was called, but SFGAdv used to have the same thing until the late 90s. I remember experiencing it as a kid - had a blast!
  11. ^ ^^ I also witnessed a park employee ask for mayo on his sausage, egg, and cheese muffin sandwich there. I could never call a park perfect that employs such a misguided person.
  12. ^ I didn't mean to imply that a lack of foot traffic is what would prevent it from being successful, but more in the sense that the park is essentially the ONLY thing in the area from which a potential hotel would benefit. The nearest hotels and motels in places like Hamilton and Freehold service much more densely-populated and commercially-developed areas and are also close to nearby traffic hubs (Hamilton is a mile off of the NJ Turnpike, Freehold has Route 9 running right through it and isn't far from the Garden State Parkway). When Six Flags is closed, there is NOTHING to do in that immediate area for miles in each direction (trust me, I know, I grew up there). A hotel would get little to no business when the park is closed, which it is for three full months out of the year as well as during the most of the "in-school" portion of its operating schedule. I'm sure during the heart of the season an independently-owned hotel on 537 would see some moderate success, but when factoring in the area's year-round potential, it wouldn't be economically feasible in the long run. Now if it were a seasonal, park-run resort similar to what Cedar Point offers, that's a completely different story.
  13. For the record, the reason people don't visit Tommy's is because it's f**king trash. If you want to eat the sh**tiest food you'll ever have in your life for the most exorbitant prices, give Tommy's Inn a whirl. That article is the same old song and dance the comes along every few years. It's never going to happen. The township will never pay for it, and even if they do, it'll never get past the environmental impact issue. Look at how up-in-arms people in the area got over a damn solar panel field. Even if all of the planets aligned and this project SOMEHOW actually got off the ground, it'll never have the commercial impact people will be looking for. There's just not enough of a population in the area to support it, and 537 doesn't have the same kind of traffic flow like other, already built-up areas, either. Having worked and managed that McDonald's outside of the park for ten years (2000-2010), I can tell you that the seasonality of the park, even with the recent inclusion of Holiday in the Park, will keep hotels and other businesses away. To illustrate this: an average McDonald's will do $5-7K in sales on a decent day, $8-10K if it's in a prime commercial location. During the park season, our store used to do $20K easily on a slow day, nearing $25K on busier days (these are the days before the Dining Pass, too; I don't work there anymore, but I know from from people I keep in touch with that it has seriously impacted sales). However, if the park was closed, it was a ghost town - we'd be lucky to do $4K on a busy day. As someone who lived and worked right in this specific area for nearly half of my life, I just don't see this ever happening.
  14. glad to hear that's the tough part. the ER Dr. told me if no improvement in 10-14 days, it likely will never improve. so , of course, nervous, and hope I start seeing something going on in the next few days! Yea, they told me the same thing, too, and that had me really nervous at first also. That's only in about roughly 5% of patients, though, so the odds are strong you'll make a full recovery. It can take a few weeks, though, so just stay patient and hopeful. Happy thoughts!
  15. ^^ I think that the "wrong / bad" major coaster is a thing of the past. Gone are the days of Viper (SFGAdv), Windjammer, Z-Force, etc. Modern technology and engineering have pretty much weaned out all necessary guesswork or trial-and-error found on many coasters from the past. Even examples like GL:FF are more of a product of sh**ty maintenance and excessive neutering by park management more than anything else.
  16. I've a feeling this thread is turning into "Most Overrated Coaster II".
  17. Man, I'm reading all these posts about Skyrush, but all I hear in my head as a result is: [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  18. Sorry to hear about the Bells, Bert! I had a case of it a couple years ago myself. Taping the eye closed is the hardest part, it's uphill from there. At least the timing worked out!
  19. Excellent report and photos! I look forward to seeing more! I really liked seeing your perspective on various aspects of American culture. As someone who worked in the food service industry for over ten years, I especially appreciate this: If I had a dollar for each time I received that response, I'd be retired by now.
  20. Ditto! *sings* F**K you lady, that's what stairs are for!
  21. I like that. It looks like a cake topper, but in a good way.
  22. You mean Vak? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/V%C4%81c?wprov=sfla1 Whoops, typed a bit too fast.
  23. That list is clearly a conspiracy made up by FAKE NEWS pushing their PIZZA AGENDA, and everyone knows it. Sad!
