Great report! I am glad things seem to be going well so far. I hope it is similar at my home Six Flags (Magic Mountain). I find it interesting that they dispense the drink into a paper cup and allow you to transfer that to your membership cup. Do I even need my membership cup anymore? Can't I just... get the paper cup drink (like at Cedar Fair parks)? What's the point if you have to transfer it anyway - you may as well just drink from that paper cup you're given. Am I missing something?

Looks delicious. I visit Knott's several times every year, and I haven't eaten at the Chicken Dinner Restaurant since 2013. Once they reopen and things calm down, I really think I need to go back. Getting "free" food with the dining plan in the park makes it very easy to always ignore the restaurant.

Lagoon Discussion Thread
thrillseeker4552 replied to Twister II's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Lagoon has updated their mask requirements for guests. In addition to requiring a mask to enter the park, guests now must wear masks in all queue lines. After seeing some photos of the queue lines on social media, I think this is a necessary change. Props to the park for tightening restrictions as necessary, despite the criticism from the anti-mask Karens. http://www.lagoonpark.com/guest-policies/ -

I never thought about how wing coasters like GateKeeper, X2, etc. are perfect for social distancing. I can't see a reason why they wouldn't want to fill every row, except for grouping singles together. Yeah, GateKeeper's ridership numbers this season will blow every other ride at the park out of the water... but it usually kind of does anyway, right?! -
Back to discussing Knott's Berry Farm... As of today, additional locations at the Knott's California Marketplace have reopened with safety measures in place. A few more additional shops will open on June 12th and June 20th. This is great news! https://www.knotts.com/explore/california-marketplace/marketplace-reopening

I am in Southern California until July 24th. If SFMM, Knott's, or SeaWorld opens before then, I definitely plan on going. I will gladly wear a mask, wash my hands regularly, practice physical distancing, and adhere to all park rules. It's worth it to me for my local parks. If none of them open by then, it looks like the only park I will visit until the holiday season is Lagoon, since I will be in Utah for the remainder of this year. Either way, I don't have an issue visiting parks once they reopen. I can take care of myself, and my introverted self will gladly stay away from strangers and avoid social situations! If the parks are comfortable opening, I am comfortable visiting.

I won't post pictures because I am unsure of the source, but it looks like there is a low-to-the-ground heartline roll ala Maverick. Plus some other wacky elements. Why aren't more people talking about this ride?! God I love Intamin so much. I am so happy to see Universal add some big awesome coasters again and not just simulators and screens.

It's probably not what everyone wanted, but it is definitely eye catching and marketable, and affordable. Makes perfect sense to me. It will really add to the skyline along the lake too. -

^Same. I have given up on theme parks this year. If I get to visit my local ones once they open, great! But I am fully expecting to ride a very minimal amount of rides this year. In fact, around the time we usually travel for theme parks (mid-late July), my family is planning a trip to Yellowstone, staying in a cabin and exploring the Tetons and the national park. We've been wanting to do it for a while, and with theme parks being a wash this year, it's the perfect time. Yay for expanding horizons! -

^I don't know if this qualifies as a "major park in the world," but Holiday World still doesn't have one. -

Were there seat belts under the buzz bars? If not, are there seat belts now? -

^I think anything from "new Vekoma" would work wonders at Adventureland - whether that be the new inverted coaster or a standard sit-down like Lech Coaster. -
Diamondback at Kings Island! Last rode in July 2017.

^To be fair, it has happened a few times. Notably Six Flags Magic Mountain in 2011 (their 40th) when they opened backwards Superman, Green Lantern, and Road Runner Express. But then again, if any park in the world were to celebrate anniversaries with a new coaster, it would be SFMM. And barring any delays, I can totally see them celebrating their 50th next year with that new Jersey Devil clone. But in general, yeah, anniversaries definitely do not correlate to new coasters that year. -

This video is the best thing to come out of 2020 so far. -
^That is what Lagoon appears to be doing with Cannibal and Wicked. They seem to primarily be filling rows 1 and 3 on Cannibal by party. Since Wicked only has two rows, they are basically doing just one party per car, even if it's just 2 people or a single rider. Given that Mako has seven rows, I imagine they would fill rows 1, 3, 5, and 7 - splitting up parties of 4 or more into smaller groups. Similar with Kraken even though it has 8 rows. I wonder if Manta will be any different. Each row seems sufficiently far apart given it's a flying coaster, but maybe it's easier for them to implement the rule across the board. I am interested to see what happens.

It definitely looks like a drawing of a coaster train, based on what we can see. A new train for Millennium would be great... but they better keep those T bars! -

Looks like GateKeeper is currently testing pretty consistent dispatches. All three trains running, dispatching at optimal intervals. I'll have to keep an eye on their other coasters. -
This is my thought as well, and is why I'm skeptical. Pony Express is popular, seemingly reliable, and takes up almost no valuable land. It isn't a necessary ride in the park, but what would they really gain from removing it? Dare I say it, but I see them removing Xcelerator or even Montezooma before Pony Express. But I don't think any coaster at Knott's is "vulnerable" at the moment.
-
Knott's posted something interesting on their story yesterday. A quick little story regarding Pony Express. This is probably just related to the park being closed, but I see some people on social media interpreting it as a possible hint at Pony Express' removal. I am skeptical, but I wouldn't rule it out either. Thoughts?

Lagoon Discussion Thread
thrillseeker4552 replied to Twister II's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't have much of a problem with Lagoon's pricing. It can seem a little steep, but their season passes are reasonably priced if you go more than twice throughout the season. I just wish they had a dining plan / drink plan add-on to the pass. I have become so used to having it at Cedar Fair and Six Flags parks, it would be nice to have at Lagoon!
