  1. ^Are you sure it was CGA? I heard it was VF, Carowinds, and CW. I could be wrong though.
  2. ^SFDK isn't all that far if you wanna ride a Premier Rides launch coaster. I extremely highly doubt that CGA would get a SUF clone with Superman at SFDK not all that far North.
  3. When did you ride it? Because it had a refurb in 2012 and it's actually quite enjoyable now. I rode it once in 2012 and once just a few months ago. It actually seemed worse this time around. It's not really the roughness (GhostRider is at my home park) but more of the fact that it has an uninteresting layout. GhostRider, while arguably more rough than Mean Streak, at least has an awesome layout with plenty of airtime.
  4. Pretty much any B&M. Even if they're not the best rides, they are so photogenic and pleasing to look at.
  5. Vortex at Kings Island. It was just awful from beginning to end. I'm fairly tolerant when it comes to coasters, but I got SO excited when Vortex hit the brakes. The I realized I had a double corkscrew, a batwing, and a helix left to endure...
  6. I do those things already. But I still have to hold on to the restraints right by my shoulders and apply a lot of pressure. I want to put my hands up! I believe a lot of it has to do with heartline too. On the immediate left turn after the launch on Maverick, I found the left side to be more comfortable than the right. Also, when going through the twisted horseshoe roll, one of the corkscrews will be smoother than the other due to the heartline. Same goes for the back-to-back "twisties" as well. After riding Maverick several times in all different kinds of seats, this is what I noticed. Because of this, the front left seat of Maverick is my favorite roller coaster experience of all time!
  7. Leviathan. Always remember Leviathan. In all seriousness, I completely totally 100% forgot about Dominator.
  8. Wow, I am still totally stumped. Would it be asking too much to point out the lift/launch/station/etc.? This is a good one.
  9. ^Another possibility could be block sections. Maybe another train hasn't cleared the brake run/MCBR yet, so it had to slow down or stop on the lift. However, unless the Wild Thing ops were insanely fast, I doubt that's the case. Could be possible on Renegade though.
  10. ^Both are great coasters, but I agree with your roommate. I like Diamondback better.
  11. Okay, I actually took the time to go to RCDB and look up all coasters in Europe with a vertical loop (your drawing appears to have one) and none of them match up! Either I skipped over it, or that drawing isn't very accurate. So much for being easy EDIT: Post #700!
  12. ^Yeah, I think I am going to start alternating every year. I went to SFMM last year, Knott's this year, and probably SFMM next year for TC (assuming there will be a WCB 2015). I also just realized we are the same age. This is getting creepy.....
  13. Cedar Fair seems to like to add one big B&M every year. Behemoth, Diamondback, Intimidator, Leviathan, GateKeeper, Banshee, and Fury 325. I bet that Valleyfair will get the next B&M in 2016, so I probably wouldn't expect a new coaster for KD until 2017. That is, assuming they go with B&M. Wait, of course they will! My guess would be a Wing coaster of Floorless. Doubt they would add a Hyper, since it would get overshadowed by I305.
  14. Hey, you stole my avatar! In all fairness, it's from the TPR Park Index. Speaking of Knott's this Saturday, I can't wait for WCB! I look forward to all the Q+A presentations, backstage tours, etc.
  15. For the trains to be in those positions, the second train would have to be dispatched immediately after the first train disconnects from the lift hill. Even then, I don't think the second train would travel that far up the hill by the time the other one reaches the MCBR. Either way, that will never happen at SFMM!
  16. That looks totally nuts. Absolutely, totally nuts.
  17. ^I think some of that has to do with the fact that he is zoomed out, so not all of the supports appear to be there, even if they are. That's my guess for the ones that obviously aren't touching the track. But I do agree, it generally looks under-supported. I like the unique elements you included though--very original!
  18. ^I agree. In a way, I always feel a little guilty when I take someone's spot who has been waiting in a line for over an hour.
  19. Gimme a link to that story. Umm... the point of my post was that I didn't have a link to the story and I was wondering if someone else could back it up since I can't seem to find it. Like I said, I don't know for sure if he said that.
  20. You know you're a coaster nerd when you have a roller coaster's layout memorized just from the announcement video...and it hasn't even been built yet (guilty w/ Twisted Colossus, Wicked Cyclone, and Fury 325).
  21. Interesting pictures. Thanks for sharing! I do have a small concern about the ride though. The capacity seems to be even lower than the Intamin versions because this version lacks a MCBR. With the Intamin version, a train can disconnect from the lift hill after the other car is passed the MCBR and about to hit the brakes. On this version, only one car can be on the entire track at a time. Regardless, it looks like a great ride and it's even better to see that S&S is finally selling some of their new concepts. I wonder what park will build the first free-fly coaster...
  22. Several might but definitely not all. CA Screamin has none, neither does Xcelerator, Kingda Ka, El Toro, Intimidator 305, Volcano (even though Wicked Twister is 6'6" and they are the same ride vehicles), Goliath at Wabili World, Expedition GeForce... the list goes on. And for whatever reason, Bizarro at SFNE and Ride of Steel at Darien Lake have a 6'4" limit instead of 6'6". As far as I know, when they opened as Superman, neither had a max limit. I believe that Kingda Ka has a height limit of 6'5''. Xcelerator also has a height limit of 6'6". They don't measure it exactly to the inch, but if your neck exceeds the headrest, you can't ride. The launch would give quite a whip lash!
  23. ^Agreed. Zero-G rolls and barrel rolls are better. I could understand them wanting to keep it safe by staying away from the vertical loop.
  24. I've said this earlier, but I could easily see Six Flags turning Poltergeist and Joker's Jinx backwards. That would be one wild ride!
  25. I recall reading somewhere the Matt Ouimet isn't a fan of flying coasters and that he won't be adding any new ones to any of his parks, but you never know. Could anyone else back this up, or am I just making stuff up?
