  1. I see where those who don't like the idea of Disney franchises being put into the pavilions are coming from, but I disagree. If you don't like that they are putting a Disney franchise-themed ride in World Showcase than I have a solution for you: DON'T RIDE IT! Disney knows what they are doing. I'm sure the ride will still blend into the Norway area perfectly. And it'll draw a much higher crowd than Maelstrom ever did.
  2. I would but the ridiculous price of an ACE membership and the fact that the event seems to have a far lamer schedule than years past keeps me from doing so. I mean, Club TPR is half the price and parks seem to be opening up more and more events that used to be ACE-only to Club TPR and other smaller clubs.
  3. By far the most ridiculous comment I've ever read in this thread. If that was their "plan", they might as well just tear the thing down and build it from the ground up. I seriously hope that they are just scrapping Mantis. The layout sucks anyways, and sit down trains won't change that. Sure, the clues are pointing to a sitdown conversion, but Tony could just be trying to throw us off.
  4. I highly prefer Outlaw Run. Goliath is a good ride, but Outlaw Run blows it out of the water in terms of airtime, intensity, and setting.
  5. I'm really hoping HoliWood Nights doesn't get too crowded this year as a result of Thunderbird, but I'm expecting it will. I'm sure it'll still be fun regardless.
  6. At HoliWood Nights, I rode the Voyage 24 times in a row. Then about a week later at Coasting for Kids at Kings Island, I rode The Racer 25 times throughout the day.
  7. Mine has changed since my initial post: 1960's- Blue Streak at Cedar Point (#64 overall) 1970's- Gemini at Cedar Point (#30 overall) 1980's- Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point (#27 overall) 1990's- Incredible Hulk at Universal's Islands of Adventure (#9 overall) 2000's- Millennium Force at Cedar Point (#2 overall) 2010's- Outlaw Run at Silver Dollar City (#1 overall)
  8. Luminosity was a really entertaining show. The best show I've seen at an AMUSEMENT park by far. I mean, Wildcat looked like an okay ride, but Luminosity is a great fit for the park. My only real complaint about the show is that the stage looks HORRIBLE during the daytime.
  9. This is a stupid conversation. WMG has a lift followed by a five foot-ish drop. That's the only "coaster" part of the ride. And no need to be so condescending. I know that ToT isn't a coaster either. I was simply trying to point out that drop tracks really aren't as revolutionary as you keep trying to say they are.
  10. Well, vertical drop tracks were first used in 2010 so...... Tower of Terror opened in 1994 and essentially uses a system not too far off from the drop track that WMG uses.
  11. LMAO!!! Sorry my opinion doesn't match yours. I'm glad you had to be overly obnoxious about it as well. I love coasters, but I'm more of a theme park kind of guy. I do enjoy amusement parks, and I certainly enjoyed myself at Cedar Point, but the atmosphere at the parks I mentioned is so much nicer than the atmosphere at Cedar Point in my opinion. That being said, I did really enjoy Cedar Point and CoasterMania was AMAZING, so I hope to go back. [/end of rant and (hopefully) this stupid argument)
  12. I do have to say CP's operations were awesome, that's not the reason it lost. I mean, the entire front half of the park is pretty much a concrete slab with coasters and a few other rides slapped on it. The back half is fairly nice though. Even though I love MF, Maverick, and GateKeeper, I would still rank SDC, HW, KI, WDW, IoA, and SWO above CP.
  13. Deleted my post in the KI thread and moved it here: I got one ride on the Beast and it was early in the morning on a rainy, cloudy, and chilly day. The train moved excruciatingly slow and yet the trims were on all the way. We hardly made it to the second lift hill. I'm hoping to get a night ride in next season, so hopefully The Beast can move up on my list. However, even my worst ride on Outlaw Run would be better than 99% of all rides I've taken on other coasters. I can't say the same about the Beast. Then again, this is the GTA we are talking about. The results are always stupid. I liked Diamondback, but #4 in the world? That is hilarious.
  14. I don't think they really give a sh!t. A stupid awards ceremony isn't going to affect what they add to the park in the future.
  15. I am shocked that Outlaw Run did not move up in the polls this year. Its ridiculous that the Beast beat it. Was Harry Potter Escape from Gringotts not considered in the best dark ride category? That steel list is even more ridiculous than the wooden one.
  16. It opened after last year's awards were announced, so it makes since that it was included. However, I agree, the only reason it won was because it was at Knoebels.
  17. I didn't mean I was shocked as in Europa didn't deserve to win, I meant that I was shocked that the voters (who seem to be in absolute love with CP and MF) actually voted for a different park. Are the full results out yet?
  18. From what I've heard, Europa Parks is definitely deserving of the award. It is shocking that Cedar Point didn't win, but it is about time that a different park won. I'm not trying to bash Cedar Point though because it is a great park.
  19. SFFT did not overhype this ride at all. While enthusiasts know that it really isn't that different from other 4D coasters, this is getting national attention from the GP, who have never heard of or seen a 4D coaster before.
  20. Zeus was more bumpy to me than rough. It definitely was a bumpy ride, but it didn't shake you around too bad. Hades 360 was really smooth. There is one part during the pre-lift segment where it punches you in the gut but that is just the design of the ride, not a reflection of the track. Cyclops was amazing. Not really rough at all. HellCat was horrible. Horrible. Horrible. That whole Timber Falls place was run down and had by far the worst employees of any park (if you can even call it that) I've been to. I wish they could take better care of an Alan Schilke creation, because the layout has potential.
  21. Lightning Run- Kentucky Kingdom
  22. Not trying to sound negative, but Bombora is a kiddie coaster. Totally different than a hyper coaster with a beyond vertical drop, three inversions, and an elevator lift hill. I do wish there was better concept art, though. Will the lift hill and drop be totally enclosed inside the tower, or will it be outside the tower?
  23. Hey don't complain! I don't get to see it until February 2015
  24. This project has the potential to be one of the best new rides of next year. But then again, the fact that they aren't working with any well-known manufacturer makes me a little scary. I just think it is somewhat strange that Lagoon chose to do the project all on their own instead of going to a manufacturer such as Intamin, Mack, Gerstlauer, or even Vekoma. I'm really intrigued and wish them the best with this, though. Like I said, it does have the potential to be spectacular.
