  1. Thanks, Robb! If they incorporate that into a fireworks show, it's going to be awesome.
  2. Not super familiar with the Disney Springs test. Was it sort of like the stuff from the Korean Olympics earlier this year? EDIT: Found a video. Looks very cool!
  3. Serious question: Have you encountered other humans?
  4. Couple of changes in bold: Apocalypse (SFMM) Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Anaheim) Comet (Hersheypark) Diamondback El Toro Fahrenheit Goliath (SFGAm) Hydrus Impulse Jack Rabbit (KW) Kingda Ka Lightning Run Millennium Force Nitro Outlaw Run Phoenix Ravine Flyer II Skyrush Thunderbird (HW) Underground Voyage Wild Eagle X-Flight Zach's Zoomer
  5. Nice! I hear nothing but good things about Alabama Splash Adventure, and I expect no less from the Koch family. Did you get to see the Civil Rights Museum while you were in Birmingham?
  6. Yeah, when I was there 10 years ago I didn't bother. Too many good museums and other cool stuff in the city to waste a day at Disneyland. Aaaand that's why they're fixing it up. Too many people doing exactly what I did.
  7. I'll bet. I would love to get back to Paris...that'll be a while. It's a bit harder to get to Europe now than it was in college.
  8. Oh nice, I've never actually done a Segway tour. I do like walking around a city though. Except North Philly. I do not care to walk around North Philly again.
  9. Oh nice, they weren't doing samples when I was there. Would have loved to have had that option. Sooo many great choices. I don't get where you're coming from on Steel Vengeance though. I thought the final section low to the ground was very much like Storm Chaser. Everybody's different.
  10. Man, that's a rough injury. Cool for the characters to come make your day. Hershey is really awesome about stuff like that. And yeah, for me it's been a year and I still have that song suck in my head too. "Taste the love all over the world!"
  11. I don't know about that, Dinn hasn't really made a good coaster in a while. (Seriously, people, how hard is it to spell the word "dining"?)
  12. Awesome! Lake Winnie really is a good park. Good move going to the boat chute first. I had the same experience with Cannon Ball; apparently it's fairly normal for it to open later than the other rides. When I was there last year, the Fly o Plane never opened at all, and had been closed for some time. Not surprised it was removed. Genie is a decent replacement, certainly less unique but fits the park well. And yeah. Conestoga. Holy sh*t. I think that ride has ruined all flying carpets for me. Knoebel's 1001 Nachts is really great, but Conestoga eats it for lunch.
  13. I hadn't heard of Camp Washington, thanks! I will be back to Cincinnati, since it's pretty close to me, will check it out next time, and Jungle Jim's too. Sheetz is so ridiculous. It's too bad there wasn't a Wawa out that far west, or I would have gone there instead, but Sheetz has some pretty good stuff too, at least for gas station food. Service is much better at Sheetz, imo. I know which Primanti's you're talking about, that's very close to the Burgatory I went to that night. They're all over and sooo good. As for the incline, I won't reveal anything, but you might just want to keep reading.
  14. Great report, Rachelis, and welcome! That train shed tour looks really great, and Hangtime at night...
  15. Nice! Most of the time I've heard Fuji Q has some amazing rides but can be...er...challenging to visit. Glad you had a good time!
  16. Dollywoods season pass is $120. Three day ticket at Dollywood cost more than a SDC season pass. Now one day tickets are only $5 more.. I'm sure they are seeing success with everyone pays children's pricing and that's why they are considering this While they don't have the same quality rides the island is free and you can pay for what you ride or an unlimited ride pass for $40.. it has plenty of rides for younger folks making it much a less expensive option for families with young kids. A lot of time price trumps quality. There's a reason why the island ranked number 6 best "amusement park" on trip advisor this year and Dollywood wasn't on that list. The other parks on that list were all Disney, Universal, and Sea World parks. I know a lot of people on here disagree with review sites but they do give the best representation of public view. At least from the vocal public. Another example of prices potentially hurting them and other activities in the area is in the announcement of Wildwood Grove. Pete mentioned several times "everything is included in one price" trying to build value.. And saying families could save money coming to Dollywood. While this is very true if you plan on doing multiple fun centers in pigeon forge, I don't think many folks actually do that. One fun center is enough. Dollywood being hidden, families with young kids can stay on the strip and the kids wouldn't even know Dollywood was around and save money at one of the strip parks. I actually heard someone mention to their kids that one of the fun centers was Dollywood lol when I was in the chocolate monkey a week or so ago. Personally, I feel the value is there but as prices have been creeping up, I have questioned renewing passes several times. Everything you've written is fair, but even at $120, a season pass is a very good value. I get why they're being price conscious--the Ozarks also has always been a depressed economic area that survives on tourism--but you don't want to go too low either and give the impression that what you offer isn't valuable. Dollywood is one of the best theme parks in the country, and the price should reflect that.
  17. ^ There's the voice of experience. Yeah, the crap I've had to bring to parks over the years. You don't want to run out of important stuff like diapers at a theme park. When the kids were really little we'd bring two umbrella strollers, a diaper bag with 1 diaper per hour the park is open, wipes, changes of clothes, bottles, formula, towels, sunscreen, swimsuits, sippy cups, crackers or other small snacks, etc. I'm sure I'm forgetting some because it's been a little bit (my youngest is 6 now and I'm so glad we don't have to bring most of that stuff anymore). You really do have to plan for every contingency whne you have kids, and that means lugging around a ton of sh*t.
  18. It is the best ballpark. Beer selection is great. You'll love it.
  19. I'm going to guess you've never had kids.
  20. I think Dollywood is very reasonably priced for what's there. It's a bit higher than some parks but the quality is absolutely there. It's not overpriced in the least. And for comparison, SDC is $65 one day/$87 season pass. Dollywood being $5 more than that is absolutely appropriate.
  21. Fallingwater really is a treasure, and they work very hard to maintain it. Anyone who's interested in art, architecture, engineering, or nature will really have a good time out there. It's easy to get to, just a few miles off the turnpike, and there's good signage giving directions, which is appreciated when you lose GPS signal. I imagine the no photography on the tour is partially to keep tours moving, and partially to protect the house and furniture from damage that may be caused by someone not paying attention while selfieing. If your phone has to stay put away, you'll be more aware of your surroundings. This house is 80 years old, and all the furniture was custom designed by a man who died half a century ago. It's literally priceless; it cannot be replaced.
  22. ^ It's on 1500 acres. The house is enormous (and there's a guest house too that's the size of a normal house). There are a ton of nature trails and you can go walk in the woods if you want. The tour price includes an all day grounds pass. No worries, I've done that too. You should go, I think you'll like it. It's basically Bizarro World Knoebels where they don't know how to properly run all the awesome things they have. Lolololol
