  1. Good trip report! I think this sums up Cedar Point perfectly. Glad you had fun!
  2. I still say it'd fit better at Oceans of Fun. But that wasn't the question that was asked.
  3. A ProSlide Tornado could easily fit in the open space they've created.
  4. In response to a post in the "Weirdest Things the GP have Said" thread about correcting someone on the number of inversions a coaster has:
  5. I think it's a very good idea to question why someone is doing something, especially if the only answer is the vague "Security." Question, understand, decide if you agree, and then if you choose to participate, follow the rules. But never should we blindly just get used to it.
  6. Unfortunately, no it is not. Ok, thanks. I suppose not enough people were taking advantage of it for it to be worth it. You can get early entry to Soak City, found that out a few weeks ago. Oh, that's cool. What slides are open early? Or is it just for general entry/changing/etc.?
  7. S&S makes Air Powered launched coasters, right (Powder Keg, Dodonpa). I'm not sure about the reliability of those, as I haven't gotten to a park that has one. Powder Keg is iffy. It starts late about as often as it starts on time. Once it gets going, it tends to perform reliably the rest of the day. It does have issues with not being able to run in the rain, but that's due to the sensors on the moving track piece, and not the launch.
  8. If it's the same as the one at Kings Island, it's a great show. Some different takes on the standard acts. Hard to say anything without spoiling something. Just anyone within range of one of these shows, go see it.
  9. This should be every coaster fan's favourite beer. Best served while constructing treehouses, catching fireflies, rocking the midway, or celebrating survival of the dunk tank!
  10. ^ I get that. We were considering a Dollywood trip, but I think we're going to put it off until next year. This will be the first time we've visited the park, and I know it would be great either way, but I want to ride Lightning Rod.
  11. If the second train for Mind Eraser is still operable, why is Darien Lake only have one train on it?
  12. Kentucky Kingdom is the second best waterpark I've ever been to, only behind Splashin' Safari. It totally deserves all the praise it gets, and all the praise it doesn't get. I had a great time there.
  13. Yes. No dessert is too far to travel for. Penguins heard about chocolate mousse in Turkey and were like, "Damn, bro, we GOT to go."
  14. Everybody's gotta start somewhere. We were going to go to the new Bell's in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which honestly was pretty much like this place. The only thing that changed our minds was that the owner, Robbie Bell, stopped working on his park. If he was still actively involved in it, we would have gone. I will always support a guy trying to put his family business back together again, even if it's first tenuous steps. Say what you want about them, but a Galaxi is a solid choice for a new, small park just trying to make it. They're cheap, and they're a lot of fun. You really can't go wrong with one.
  15. ^ Yeah, that sort of thing always happens. People are pretty predictable that way.
  16. Totally agree, and not only is it a Schwarzkopf, it's the very best coaster in Oklahoma.
  17. Valleyfair used that photo last year too, I'm assuming its very similar to the ride pane for the apps of all Cedar Fair parks. This is always the answer. Always. And yet people still try to divine some secret knowledge out of Web design.... OMG! There's a PICTURE!!! It's gotta be TRUE!!!!1!
  18. It's one slow turn, and it never stops. Takes about 7 minutes. That's exactly how it ran in Chicago.
  19. The Branson Ferris Wheel officially opened Thursday 6/23, and we went out this past weekend to check it out. We had previously ridden this Ferris wheel at the Navy Pier, but we wanted to see it in its new environment, so we trekked out to Track 4 on 76 in Branson. The Track parks have been around in Branson forever (fun fact: my dad’s first job was working at the bumper boats back in the 1970s). They specialize in all the rides that Silver Dollar City doesn’t have and won’t build: go karts, laser tag, skycoaster, mini golf, video game arcade, etc. It’s a fun time. We took advantage of the season pass offer they have going on right now. One pass is good for the whole family. It costs $130, and you get $170 in credits, plus a free pizza buffet and free frozen custard. It’s a great deal, plus the credits never expire, so you can ride as much or as little as you like; no rush. We spent some time on the go karts and in the video game arcade to start out the day. It has been a while since I’ve been here, so the Heavy Metal Highrise, built in 2011, was new to me. It’s a four-story upward helix, followed by a steep downward hill. The karts get going very fast, and it’s a whole lot of fun. The Ferris wheel itself is just as I remember. The crew were very good, and it was hard to believe the attraction had only been open for 3 days. They knew exactly what they were doing, and it was very professional. The view from the top was amazing. Branson really is pretty much just built along 76, so up high like that you could see a long way. Our ride was just before a storm came in, so the car was rocking a bit more than we would have liked. Still it was a very fun experience, and highly recommended for Branson visitors. The Track is a great place to unwind in the evenings, very casual. The pizza buffet is excellent, and the arcade, though a bit dated, does have some fun games. I’m glad to see a new top-tier attraction in Branson, and most especially since this is the first of 3 big new attractions scheduled to open this year.
