Companies often will invoke flex policies during natural disasters. I work in the travel industry, so this is an area I know pretty well. If your stay/ticket/event falls within a certain date range when a natural disaster occurred, you get your money back, no questions asked. It's really common and is not at all indicative of the type of service you would get if you had booked different dates. Literally the only thing that the two experiences you've cited have in common is that they both happened to you.

Whether it's their policy or not, if they sold you a ticket for a day that they weren't open, you would have the ability to dispute the credit card charge. And whether they win or lose, chargebacks hurt any company, so they'll definitely try to avoid it. No, but if you go and it's closed more than an hour and a half of your day, you can get a free ticket to return any time that season (or during the Christmas festival, the ticket is good for that season or the next). Dollywood has possibly the best customer service not just in this industry but in any industry.

That is very good. It's also a very high capacity ride. Being SDC's first major roller coaster, it was designed to carry the park's roller coaster demand single handedly, and did so for 6 years. If it's dispatched quickly enough, it could do well over a million--and they've had an all-star crew on it this year.

Decently realistic. I think the waterpark is their biggest need, but that'll depend on if and when the Army Corps of Engineers approves their plan. I think they'll start on that right away once they have approval. 2020 may be a bit far in the future, but maybe not. A Hyper GTX would be awesome for this park. I know a lot of its locals are itching for a modern looper, but I still say you've got a great one in Sponge Bob already. I just think there's a few priorities before Valleyfair gets to that, which is what is refreshing about this plan. Good job!

It normally opens for weekends only at the beginning of April. It's possible that Sat 4/1 could be the opening date, but if I were betting, I'd say Sat 4/8 would be more likely.

^ Absolutely! I'm eyeing late August, right at the tail end of daily operations for everything. Time is a major factor on this; just too many things to do and all sort of but not exactly close. I think once everyone has their 2017 calendars on their websites, I'm going to have to start a "Help Me Plan a Trip to Knoebels" thread just to figure out the logistics.

No, Bill, you're wrong, and you're a terrible person for saying this! Better? Really, I agree. I rode it, and enjoyed it, but I went in with really low expectations. I wanted to ride it just because of the unique ride system. I had never seen a suspended dark ride before, and I don't know of any others. Without the suspended ride system, I would have skipped it entirely, like I did Winnie the Pooh. It was cool for the experience, but I have no reason to ever want to do that again unless there's a big overhaul. I can see that. I grew up visiting Rehoboth Beach and they have a Haunted Mansion with a suspended ride system that they built mostly in house so that ride system isn't much of a novelty for me since I've ridden that thing countless times. Somehow, despite the fact that it was built on a small, seaside park budget I think that ride is infinitely more enjoyable than Peter Pan's Flight. See, now you're making me want to go to Rehoboth Beach. I've been agonizing over how to fit it into my Knoebels plans. It's so close (Moreys Piers is already on the itinerary), and yet it's on the opposite side of the bay from everything else.
