  1. Surprisingly, no. I've been to several countries, but always found people who knew enough English to help. I've always followed the pattern of attempt to learn the language before going, speak it badly when I get there, and they'll pity me and switch to English. The absolute best non-Anglophone country for finding English speakers is Germany. It seemed like nearly everyone spoke it. Have you ever been on a three hour boat tour that lasted for three entire seasons?
  2. That's a great name for a workout video! AbNoxious: Annoy your core into submission!
  3. Great photos, both of you -- thanks for sharing! Only one question--why a photo on T3? Who would want photo evidence that they rode that piece of sh*t?
  4. I like it. Big improvement over the previous one, looks a lot more professional.
  5. Yes, although good seafood is very hard to find in the Midwest. Do you have any pets?
  6. I wonder if it was spring break for area schools, which would have increased lines Yes, it was. Thursdays should be fine once the Festival of Wonder begins.
  7. John Kander's nephew Jason, who ran for Senate last year, just wrote an awesome tweet about his uncle. I won't post it here, because I think it's too political for this forum, but Google "Jason Kander tweet" and you'll find it.
  8. Yeah, I'm still leaving open the possibility that this might not be open yet when I'm in the area in August. If it is, I'll stop by and ride it. If not, more time at Morey's.
  9. No, but I haven't been on Mystery Mine yet. Ask me again in 2 months and I might have a different answer. At the moment, my favourite Gerstlauer is Monster at Adventureland. Would you agree that Yadier Molina is the best catcher ever to play the game?
  10. Me, I'd rather happily go to those places. Defiance just isn't the right emotion for theme parks.
  11. Top Thrill Dragster has the best flat section of track in existence, between the station and the part where it jerks you 420 feet straight up into the sky.
  12. Granted, but other RMCs are better. Outlaw Run and Storm Chaser both have little bumps like that which produce outrageous airtime at high speeds.
  13. ^ Not sure about length. I've never encountered a situation where a seatbelt was too short, so I honestly didn't think to look. ^^ Hit Powder Keg first, then Outlaw Run. Powder Keg's line builds quickly due to low capacity and a 42" minimum.
  14. I've ridden one half of Lightnin' Loops, and I don't think Great Adventure is missing much. It was one of those that I wanted to ride because it was so different from anything I'd ridden before, but it was awful. Replacing it with a boomerang would be an upgrade.
  15. I don't think it's been mentioned yet, but one of Outlaw Run's trains has new seatbelts. They're a bit wider than the old ones and in my experience easier and faster to buckle, since they're less likely to get twisted and tangled than the old ones are. If you ride twice in a row, once in each train, you'll notice the difference.
  16. Nope, I have my machine slave do that for me. It'll be fine. Not like machines are capable of rising up against their human overlords or anything. Have you smiled today?
  17. With what we paid for Dream More, if you factor the skip the line for each of the 5 of us, plus parking costs for 3 days, it makes the hotel itself about $70 a night. Best deal in Pigeon Forge.
  18. I agree with every album Bert has listed, and I would add these: "Band on the Run" -- Paul McCartney & Wings "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme" -- Simon & Garfunkel "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" -- Bob Dylan "Violator" -- Depeche Mode "Kid A" -- Radiohead "Automatic for the People" -- R.E.M. "Stone Roses" -- Stone Roses "Daydream Nation" -- Sonic Youth "Disraeli Gears" -- Cream All these, and all the ones Bert listed, are pretty much required curriculum for the School of Rock.
  19. Congratulations! You are today's winner of the Alanis Morissette Not Actually Irony Award!
