  1. Looks like a fun event, even if the weather was not cooperating. Thanks for sharing!
  2. How's the trip going so far? Right now I am super exhausted, but I have had an awesome time. Will have a full trip report starting when I get back, but I'll spoil one thing: Mystery Mine is a new top 5 coaster for me.
  3. Fair enough, people have different tastes. FWIW, I don't really dog on Gatekeeper. Cedar Point has only one bad coaster, and that's Corkscrew. I enjoyed Gatekeeper quite a lot, it's just that I like the others more. If I were in an alternate dimension with all four of them surrounding me, that's my order of preference.
  4. Finally got the 4th American wing coaster, and Thunderbird is still the best in my book. Near misses are what this coaster style is all about, and that's where Gatekeeper can't keep up. It's fun, certainly, but other than the station keyhole, it just doesn't do anything. Here's my ranking: 1. Thunderbird 2. Wild Eagle 3. X-Flight 4. Gatekeeper
  5. The concierge at DreamMore said this morning the park is waiting for a part that will arrive next week. Take that as you will.
  6. I understand what you're saying. Voyage is super intense, and I feel like the MCBR is basically the only chance to breathe during the whole run. It's almost too much coaster for me, and that's why I rate it so high, but it definitely could be uncomfortable for some people.
  7. There's a 100% chance it's announced either sometime between 8AM and 5PM, inclusive, on a day between Monday and Friday, inclusive, or else at some other time.
  8. Muskegon is a tourist town. It even has a ferry to Milwaukee and gets a decent number of tourists from there, Chicago, and UP Michigan.
  9. No, but I am visiting 3 states I've never been to. Are you barbecuing or grilling this weekend?
  10. Cool, one fewer person in front of me in line at Knott's!
  11. I'm going to assume they told the artist, "Here's some money. Make us a rendering of a 50s style BBQ place." And this was the result.
  12. Great report, thank you very much! This park looks beautiful and well done in every way that doesn't involve Tapu Tapu. It seems our fears were well founded, especially as you mentioned you left the park due to not being able to do anything for 4 hours while having Krakatoa reserved.... It's also a pretty terrible thing to still have to stand in line even after having virtually queued. That's not a good guest experience at all. Being frustrated in a beautiful space is not exactly what people are going for. Hoping by the time we get to Orlando they have all this fixed. If not, there's Aquatica and the two Disney waterparks, and we can spend our waterpark day at one of them instead.
  13. That's pretty much how I feel about it too. It's a really fun park, and the frustrations are minor, but there are just so many minor frustrations throughout the day that it adds up. The giant positive that is Fascination balances those negatives, but it does leave you with a less than glowing impression. If they can improve ride reliability and get every ride open on time, this park would be fantastic.
  14. I agree with your whole post (Glad you liked Voyage; it's one of my favourites), but I wanted to point out this section especially. Gobbler Getaway is an underrated ride. So much fun, and ridiculous as only Holiday World can be. I rode that a lot last time I was there, more than Legend IIRC. I'm going back next week, and the things I'm most excited about? Voyage, Gobbler Getaway, and Plymouth Rock Cafe.
  15. So we just arrived at Dollywood's DreamMore Resort, and I couldn't wait for the trip report to say this is the greatest hotel I've ever stayed at. Bar none. Good night, y'all, and may all your dreams come true.
  16. If that doesn't appeal to your sense of humour, then maybe Knott's isn't the theme park for you.
  17. Should be no problem. Have fun! Wildebeest and Mammoth are both incredible slides. Check out Zoombabwe if you get the chance. It's the most ridiculous raft slide I've ever been on.
  18. Not trying to be an A$$... But have you ever been on Millennium Force?? Those tunnels aren't really "short." Yeah, they're pretty long, but you also fly through them pretty fast, so I can see where one might get that impression.
  19. This looks like a seriously awesome cruise. Those are some of the prog legends right there.
  20. ^ Yep, pretty much exactly my thoughts. I liked Banshee but I loved Diamondback, especially back row. I'm not sure whether I like Ninja or Bat better, but that's a good problem to have. Beast in a thunderstorm must have been quite the experience. Glad you had fun!
  21. I know this is really hard for enthusiasts to understand, but there are people who want a view but not a thrill. Observation towers are great family rides. Drop towers are not.
  22. No, I'm going to Dollywood! Do you have any veterans in your family?
  23. I love both parks and honestly both put on some pretty kickass events. I went to Holiwood Nights 2 years ago (and going back next week!), and I went to Coastermania last year. I had a ton of fun at both events, and I'm pretty content to just keep bouncing between the two as long as I have the means to do so. Thunderbird is leagues better than Gatekeeper, and all 3 of HW's woodies are better than either woodie at CP (though next year I may have a different opinion). What HW has is very good. It's just that CP has about a dozen coasters that HW isn't competing against. Maybe it's just that I've only experienced these two parks through enthusiast events, but I found the service and operations at both to be very high quality, and both are an excellent value for what you'll pay.
  24. Cool, have fun! Overall I like the experience at Worlds of Fun better. Six Flags has a much better coaster collection, but Worlds of Fun has a ton of flats. The kids areas are both about even, but Oceans of Fun is clean, beautiful, huge, and newly renovated, while Hurricane Harbor is...well...still the same as it ever was. Overall, if you're strictly a coaster person, you may be a bit disappointed (unless you bought a Platinum Pass and go to Cedar Point this year too). If you have family members with varied interests, though, you'll probably have a better time at Worlds of Fun than Six Flags.
