So cool. And yes, you are correct that Depeche Mode did the best version of the Route 66 song. Love those guys, and I got to see them in concert in Kansas City back in 2006. It was an...interesting concert. Turned into a Martin Gore solo concert when Dave Gahan got too high on heroin to come out and sing. They gave us a full refund plus a thing of my choice from their store. I chose the Speak and Spell DVD/CD combo. Still have it. Not a great concert, but at least it's a great story. I don't know that I would have ventured as close to the edge of that canyon as you did. Roller coasters are perfectly safe, and that's a lot of the appeal. Nature doesn't care if we die. Great report! I love the West, and I'm glad to relive it through your photos.

Elitch Gardens Discussion Thread

It's like an old VHS tape copy of a copy of a copy where the quality degrades each time. Using this scenario, the coaster would have been several copies down the VHS chain! That's a great description. Thanks! -
Elitch Gardens Discussion Thread

I'm enjoying this conversation, but I haven't been to Elitch Gardens. Am I remembering correctly that Twister II is a clone of a coaster that Knoebels also cloned to create their Twister? -

Awesome. Between the no beer before 11:30 and the baby...thing... Very entertaining. Every time I see this park, it just cements the idea that I am going to have to go to SeaWorld. Was just looking at some San Antonio hotels this morning.... Maybe can swing it next year. Crossing fingers. -
Now this is how I want to do Vegas. Fly in cheap, rent a car, get the hell out of Vegas and go to a National Park instead. Looking forward to more of this! Glad you got to experience some of Route 66. Would you be jealous if I told you I drive it on my commute to work? Springfield is the place where the road was first commissioned, and the Mother Road goes right through the square in the centre of town. We have a big festival every year with classic cars and BBQ. It's a fun time.

No shame for going to Legoland. Legos aren't toys. They're a highly sophisticated interlocking brick system. Every TR I've seen of Busch Gardens makes the place look incredible, and this one doesn't break the chain. Glad you had fun, but I get the vibe that it's impossible not to. Loving this report! Can't wait to see what park you visited next!

Not to derail the thread, but behold. This is the best part: Sounds like a complete shithole to me. -

As far as airports go, PHL isn't terrible. "Not terrible" is the highest praise I ever give an airport. The other end of the scale, "complete shithole," is reserved for the travesty that is O'Hare. But of course, they couldn't have a good Chickie's and Pete's. Airports are legally obligated to promise awesomeness and then crush your hopes. -
Dorney really is a fun park. It's on par with Valleyfair! and Worlds of Fun honestly. It just suffers from being near 3 other, way better parks. I probably won't ever go to the Haunt, and honestly if I'm ever in PA again, I think I'd take a third day at Knoebels and skip Dorney. It's not bad, it's just not good enough to justify spending time there over its competition. Good writeup on the day. Once a year is appropriate. Talon is awesome and I agree that Hydra's fun too. Too bad CF will not run a log flume in the fall, because that may just be their best ride.

I'm calling BS on anyone having ridden it 1200 times, because a guy lying about how many times he's ridden a coaster is actually far better than a guy visiting Kings Island every single day they've been open and riding one coaster 10 times each day. Though I don't want to know either guy. At all. Great photos. The park looks beautiful. The show looks cute for the kids, but yeah...hope those actors are paid well.

That brings up a good point. We're in the very early stages of planning WDW. Never been before, but have been to both parks in Anaheim. I was able to get on everything by just having fastpasses for the big rides (Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, etc.) and riding things with lower wait times in between (Pirates, Star Tours, etc.). Does that strategy still work at MK too? I mean, I don't really care if Haunted Mansion is a two hour wait if we ride six other things during those two hours.
